From Wicked Writing for Dummies "The Fiyero Irregularity"

Awesome! I got 1st place in the 2010 Greg Awards for Best Angst Author! (I will take this rather immodest notice down sometime but I'm rather proud of it at the moment)

OK, I have finally decided to update this because I wrote it about a year ago and to be honest it was just a mass of quotes and rubbish. I’ll try to keep it short this time because I’m not sure anyone actually reads these to be honest and what people are interested about is my writing.

Anyway I’m DeeplyShallow or Dee to make it less of a mouthful. I have been ‘writing’ (even if most never made it to paper) stories since as long as I can remember – although being able to finish them is something quite new – I used to write stories on thesims2.com (which were truly awful and looked like they were written by a 12 year old girl – ok I might have been 12 when I wrote them but still – they were shameful) but they were always a nightmare to write as you had to take pictures to go with the text, there was no spell check and people would only read them if they had pretty covers.

Anyway, I discovered this site just over a year ago and have rarely gone off it! I write mostly for Wicked but occasionally I’ll get a Harry Potter idea and maybe one day I’ll write something Artemis Fowl or Percy Jacksony. Oh and there was also that twilight one… shivers.

I also have a (mostly dead) joint account with my friend Inkhandedlady.

Avatar: Made by me, I'm actually very proud of this one - especially since the only photo editing software I know how to use is paint - if anyone cares Elphaba is Nicole Parker and Fiyero is Kyle Dean Massey, the quote is from 'as long as you're mine' in the San Francisco tryouts which was later replaced by 'maybe I'm brainless, maybe I'm wise, but you've got me seeing through different eyes.' which is a pity if you ask me because the other line's adorable.

Truth or Dare:Written almost exactly a year ago now, my attempt at writing fluffy Fiyeraba, the first thing I wrote for this site, nothing really more to say about it.

That’s Why You Love Me: Uploaded a day after Truth or Dare, in that spur of fast first uploads that nearly everybody seems to have when they start uploading stories for the first time. More fluff, to be honest the entire story was written around the last line.

Bitter: Ahhhh! It’s a twific! No, I don’t think it’s too bad; I was getting a bit sick of twilight even when I wrote this, and I’ve never been fond of Edward. So this is about Leah (one of the few characters with personality) set a few years after Breaking Dawn.

Happy Endings: Aww, my little ignored fic! Actually, you can’t really see it now but it took this fic over 6 months to get its first review, I never really got to the bottom of that – maybe it was just rubbish, I’ve never really managed to look, I hate rereading my stories at the best of times. My first and last attempt to write bookverse.

Darkness: I was flicking through Wizard of Oz and found this quote: ‘The Witch was too much afraid of the dark to dare go in Dorothy’s room at night to take the shoes,’ and I had to write something based around that.

Only a Dream: Written for the summer fic exchange challenge, I had to write a non-cannon paring so I chose Fiyeressa. I really disliked it when I wrote it, so I spent ages hating it but I finally got the confidence to read it again recently and I found I actually quite like it :)

Birthday Surprises: Galinda celebrates her birthday and it doesn’t go quite how she planned, I had a fun afternoon ‘researching’ blonde jokes for this.

Forgotten Hope: I really like the idea for this one, it’s definitely Fiyeraba, despite the fact neither of them meet. It’s set in the interval which is a part of Wicked that I find really interesting.

No Regret: I've never quite got the response to this fic - it has double the number of favourites than reviews - and none of my other fics even have more favourites than reviews. Inspired by reading someone’s comment on how their Fiyero knew exactly what was going to happen when he swung into the cornfield, it’s basically Fiyero’s train of thought when he’s trying desperately to save Elphaba and nothing else, especially his own life, is really taking priority. This is one of my few fics that I really enjoy reading.

Broken Lives: A Harry Potter fic. Lupin in his office just before he enters the whomping willow in PoA. Fairly angsty with a rather cheesy Potter Puppet Pals reference.

Only a True Gryffindor: Another Harry Potter. A look at how Neville comes into his own during his years at Hogwarts.

Living in a Memory: Back to Wicked, yet another interval fic, I tried to write fluffy Fiyeraba and angsty Flinda came out. Having said that I actually quite like this one too.

Totally Unfairifyed!: Wicked Act 1 through the eyes of Pfannee, completely shallow, with an excess of exclamation marks and Galindafied words. This was great fun to write!

Unmasked: A look at why Fiyero is like he is in Act 1. Something that had been going around my head for a while and I hadn’t worked out a way to put down. Fiyeraba of course.

The Endless Cycle: To be quite honest my favourite bit of my writing. I got the idea one evening, wrote down a few notes on it before dinner and then wrote it all in one go. I kind of regret putting the quote I put on its summary because I believe it put people off it. A look at Fiyero’s life during the interval. Implied Fiyeraba.

Captain: Elphaba's views on Fiyero becoming the Captain of the Guard - another interval fic written at midnight - the pairing's Fiyeraba, although Elphaba's not happy about it.

Wicked and the Attack of the Badfic Author: A complete parody. Elphaba, Glinda and Fiyero protest against being in a bad fic - however, the author does not want to let them go...

Nothingness: Completely angsty post musical angst that my only excuse for is 'CrazyBeagle told me to write it'.

Rules for the Tiggular Household: A collection of, well, rules. Meant to be amusing, I can quite honestly imagine the 2nd gen Wicked kids doing most of these things and Elphaba steadily adding to the list...

A Moment: An as long as you're mine scene, which I finally managed to gain the confidence to write. I basically listened to the song over and over again trying to catch the emotions in the scene and then put them in the fic.

Lost: Flinda angst, intermission fic, Glinda reflects on her time with Fiyero - once again written around the last line. The idea would not stop bugging me for months before I gave in and wrote it.

Alone: ...Don't even ask, I was sleep deprived and it was midnight... I know it's weird, it just came out.

Dear Wicked Writers: Based on the website Dear Blank, Please Blank which I got very addicted to. Basically the Wicked Characters having a bit of a moan about how we treat them.

Hauntingly Beautiful: Melena's story. I'm actually pretty proud of this. This is what I spent a 44 hour plane flight writing (between watching the on flight entertainment (and the way back had musical soundtracks including Wicked! I was most excited)). Most definitely musicalverse but with bookverse elements.

Marysuewocky: A Harry Potter fic but only because the odd name mentioned fit HP better. This weirdness is why I shouldn't be left alone too long to think. If you can't tell already it's based on Jabberwocky.

Nostalgia: A Tangled fic, an angsty Tangled fic, because apparently I can't look at even happy films without thinking about angst. I was even listening to 'I see the light' when I wrote this but still angst came out.

Fiyero Would: Just something I wrote back in April and sent to a couple of my friends that I thought others would appreciate. Basically a 'Edward is so great compared to normal guys' profile list that I decided would be much more informative for us Wicked girls (or... um... boys if there are any of you) if we had Fiyero's actions as a reference too.

Say There’s No Future: A Fiyeraba version of Romeo and Juliet. I soon found out that, while Fiyero was happy to become a Romeo, Elphaba frankly refused to become Juliet, it turned out OK eventually but not until after Elphaba threw a good few fits. I love it though because it’s the first proper long story I’ve finished.

Dear Auntie Ozma: Basically what it says on the tin, Wicked retold in a series of letters to an agony aunt. Despite the multichapterness of this it's actually rather short and really only is multichap for formatting purposes.

Horrible: The Life and Times of Madame Morrible: Terrifyingly complete after 10 months of writing and nearly 50,000 words. But to be honest I’m surprised no one has done something like this before, surely writing the story of the antagonist of the story of an antagonist of a classic novel (am I even making sense?) isn’t really that creative? Oh yeah, and I have a soft spot for underplayed characters and baddies…

Aaaaand, I think that’s all I have to say, and all in… over 1000 words!? I really went on for that long? sigh I guess there’s no space for my ten tonnes of (totally awesome may I add) quotes then.
