Author has written 7 stories for StarTrek: Voyager, Lord of the Rings, and Chronicles of Narnia. Ok. I'm leaving my usual profile below, but there is something I have to say. I'm quite angry. Why? Let me tell you. The incredibly funny satire "Protectors of the Plot Continuum" written by the illustrious HarpWire, has been taken down, and HarpWire has been banned from ff.net. This is an outrage. They have done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment, and it is downright evil that they have been treated so harshly, without even getting a *warning* first. Although what there was to warn them against, I have no idea. They did nothing wrong, as far as I (and everyone else I've asked) can tell. So what the hell is going on? The PPC was a great fic. It was a welcome relief, yea, a necessary respite from the sea of crap which is allowed to circulate on ff.net freely these days. It poked a bit of well-deserved fun at those horrid little creatures we all know and despise so much, the grammatically-unintelligible, plot-free, mindlessly lustful LotR Mary-Sue. Now, what really burns me is that ff.net allows these wretched crimes-against-literature to be posted, without a word of warning or censure. But Eru forbid that a well-written, intelligent, hilarious and witty satire should be written about them, oh no! How unthinkable! So these pea-brained Mary Sues get to write and post whatever they want, but HarpWire's freedom of expression is arbitrarily taken away? I have one word to describe that: Fascism. That is all. I know this may offend some of you. So be it. And if I get flamed, and if my account gets dumped, I won't be surprised. But I have my opinion, and last time I checked, I was entitled to it. Maybe ff.net wants to change that entitlement. From the way they've treated HarpWire, it seems to be going that way. If that's the way things are, then there might not be anything I can do about it. But I sure as hell am going to go down swinging. Judge for yourself. Read the PPC here: http://members.bellatlantic.net/~vze3b4pq/ Does HarpWire deserve eviction? For *this*? Give me a break. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Hello, all you glorious fic addicts! I'm a 23-year old chick, student/ substitute teacher/ singer/ aspiring writer with Monty Python, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Star Trek (especially Voyager!!!) obsessions. Actually I have lots and LOTS of obsessions... way too many to tell you about here... :) ****NEW**** My "boyfriend-not boyfriend" social experiment is... uh... never mind. It hurts, is all. Sometimes things are simply not meant to be. I think I ought to put something else in here. Yes. Indeed. I will now proceed to tell you all about my unhealthy John Cleese fixation. It all started when I was six years old, and me mother had the telly on with the sound turned down, as she often did, and she was making a bit of cabbage and potatoes for my sister and myself, you know the kind, with the little red eyes all over... GET ON WITH IT!! Right. As I was saying, John Cleese. I adore him, as everyone should, but most don't, because they just don't get the whole Cult of Python thing. Pfft. Their loss. Anyway - right now I'm searching rather desperately for a poster (or actually anything at all) of the Cleese still-shot that's right at the beginning of the cheese shop sketch. If anyone knows what I'm babbling about, and can tell me where to find such a prized item, then PLEASE, for the love of Biggles, TELL ME! My email is right here in my profile, so use it and tell me where to find that which I seek! (no not the grail, you silly ponce) By the way, I have just realized that I really don't talk much about my music bent in this bio. Here you go. I love - *LOVE* - music, in all forms but country and rap. Don't try to convert me; trust me, I've listened to far more than enough of both to make an educated decision. Then what, ask you, do I like? Well, generally: rock, jazz, folk, and... uh... anything else that's not rap or country. And to amend, I actually like a few things that some people consider 'country': Appalachian folk music, for example. Want some specifics? Okay. The Beatles, Queen, Pink Floyd, Dave Brubeck, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, U2, Chet Baker, Genesis, Thelonious Monk, David Bowie, James Taylor, the Grateful Dead, Roy Orbison, Chris Isaak, Rush, I could go on for hours. And you may notice, those are all groups composed entirely of the male gender. Yeah, I know. I like female music too: Sarah McLachlan, Joni Mitchell, Diana Krall, Tori Amos, Portishead, Karan Casey (great Irish folk singer), Billie Holiday, Etta James, Enya, Jane Monheit, Beth Orton, Sinead O'Connor, and again... I could go on for hours. You get the picture: I like music, right? Yeah. ********Hey, I just looked at all the reviews I got without noticing, since stupid ff.net took away the 'number of reviews' feature. *grr* Anyway, THANK YOU ALL!! *hugs everyone* I am now motivated to continue writing and get over my horrible case of uberbusyness/writer's block!!********* Now it's time to tell you who I love! Camilla Sandman! Go! Read her stuff, it's great. Especially OFUM. *bows to the Mighty Miss Cam* kitsune! One of *the absolute best* LotR A/L slash writers out there, IMHO. 'Double Edged' is one of my favorites. Go! Read! But be warned... only go read if you like slash. If you don't know what slash is... well... I'm not gonna be the one to strip you of your innocence. Lady Rheena! Writer of the best Icheb fic ever! DEFINITELY: Go! Read! It's funny, romantic, cute, and full of bad guys getting their butts kicked! :) YAH! GreyLadyBast! Hilarity... check out "Taken Far Too Literally". Muhahahahaaa!! Go! Read! Thalia Weaver: "Entling" is so gorgeous... man I wish I'd written that. Go! Read! Here's a plug for my favorite LotR site: http://www.barrowdowns.com ... fab-u-lous! Here's another kick-ass site: http://www.marvel.com ... yep, it's Marvel Comics! And now for something completely different: http://pythonline.com ... Watch out for the blancmange impersonators. Monty Python, Paul McCartney, Spiderman, Middle-Earth, yada yada, you already know all about my silly obsessions that extend far back into the misty recesses of my arcane lifespan. Well! There you go (I just *know* no one ever reads this... *sigh*) My new&improved profile! The mostest newest and mostest improvedest yet! | |||||||
