If you scroll down a little bit, you will see the ongoing list I'm compiling of fics that are, in my opinion, amazing (though most of them, admittedly, involve primarily L and the other people shown in the first arc [episodes 1-25]. Other than occasionally Beyond Birthday, there won't be many about the Wammy Kids. Sorry. =w=) . You should check it out, if you want. The actual list is so much longer than what I have posted, but the links and such take time to put together. Many of the authors by whom I have more than one story listed are authors whom I, personally, regard to be some of the higher caliber writers in the fandom. If an author has only one fic on the list, but has a hyperlink on their penname, it means that most of their other fanfic are recommendable, but I was unable to deem which ones would be appropriate to be on the list. The same goes for authors with multiple listings—most or all of their other fics are well-done, but since I have not the time to list every single fic that every single great author has written, I have only listed the ones I, personally, feel are among their best works. I am pretty easy to get along with, though I am not afraid to speak my mind (and do so often). I currently reside somewhere in the Sonoran Desert, where I sit up all night at my computer reading and writing fanfiction, researching anything and everything, looking in to murder investigations, blogging, and reading poetry (all the while scheming my eventual takeover of the world). I may or may not be older than you, but tend to disregard age as unimportant. I don't know why people on FF are so reluctant to give out their age (I mean, at any given time there are millions of people who are the same age as you), but, just in case they all know some horrible secret that I don't know regarding age in relation to FF, I'll just say I'm probably somewhere between the ages of 17ish and 26ish. I don't look my age at all; whenever people look at me and try to guess how old I am, they usually guess a number that is typically 5-7 years younger than I actually am. I am female. As for sexual orientation, I am pansexual, which basically means I'd be fine with going for anyone. I am an atheist, and tend to be rather eccentric, with a bit of a flare for drama and a tendency to act rather theatrical. I have been described as flamboyant at times. (I also have a tendency to curse a hell of a lot, so I apologize if that offends anyone.) I am not proud to admit it, but, for the past few years, I've been struggling a lot with drug addiction. While I recently started getting help and now consider myself to be a recovering addict, some of my stories written in that time period might come across as a bit deranged or darkly bizarre because of what I was taking while writing them. I just thought it would be best to explain some of that. I tend to be a bit of a harsh reviewer, and usually leave many critiques. I mean no offense by this, and hope only that my constructive criticism is found to be at least somewhat useful to fellow writers. I also admit to being more than just a bit of a Grammar Nazi. I am a very disorganized person. This profile is a very good example of that. I find that I can't focus unless my living space is enveloped in clutter-induced chaos. I live by the belief that people can live, act, and say what they wish, and therefore don't really get offended or angry at anything people do. I work at an animal shelter, where I do work primarily with snakes (handling them, giving presentations to children, etc). However, in the future, I hope to become either a writer (once I have significantly improved my writing skills) and/or a cop. I also do research in the field of Graphology, which is the study of handwriting. Basically, I am able to determine a great number of personality traits associated with a person just by looking at the way they write on paper. My favourite anime/manga is probably either Code Geass or Wolf's Rain, but my favourite anime/manga to write fanfiction for is most definitely Death Note. Death Note fics are so much fun to write, because you have a mostly unlimited amount of possibilities for different situations, while still all the while having ample opportunity to keep everything and everyone in character. I'm probably best known for my Death Note fanfics in the humor genre (on the occasion that I'm actually known in the first place), but when it comes to the real world, the only time I ever actually make people to laugh is when I tell them that I even write comedy to begin with. I, personally, find that I am best at angst and dark fics due to my morbid love for the macabre. I am not myself a very emotional person (it takes a ridiculous lot to upset me), so I enjoy very much writing about and depicting the negative emotions of other people so as to compensate for not having many of my own. As I believe I stated earlier, writing pretty much dominates my life, and is thus what I spend most of my time doing. One of my primary goals as a writer is to write things that most people have never thought of before. I always strive to make my work at least a little bit stray from the norm. Any social life I might think I have outside of the people I talk to on the internet is purely fictional, if not completely nonexistent. What types of things am I willing to write, exactly? Well, to be honest, I'm fine with writing just about anything (including lemons, limes [smut in general, humour, angst, gore, etc). However, I don't do mpreg (unless I'm writing utter crack). Because it's just not possible. Enough said. About most of my older works: They rather suck. A lot. I was a really crappy writer when I first started out writing fanfiction, and it very much shows. I am actually unbelievably embarrassed by my younger, noobish self, and I would really appreciate it if you did not read my older stuff (I don't have the heart to delete them). My author's notes are especially cringe-worthy. If you dig through my archives (particularly the ones written between 2009-2010, and one or two from early 2011), you'll find an abundance of crackfic that essentially consist of nothing but my own stupidity. Please, just ignore them. They are the bane of my existence, to put it in dramatic terms. I'm nowhere near as stupidly random and obsessively fangirlish as I seemed to be back then, so please don't pay any mind to any of the stupid things I have said or done in the past. I used to be absolutely ridiculous, and I'm rather ashamed of myself. Also along those lines, I have somewhere around 1,000 stories saved to my favourites list. Don't assume by any stretch that everything in there is actually written well, or can be considered anything along the lines of decent. I favourited most of them when I was younger, back when I thought that everything was good. Good luck sorting through them, because I'm sure as hell not. I generally read every decently-written Death Note fic I come across, even if the theme isn't something I would normally favour. I am fairly open minded when it comes to different concepts in different fics regardless of whether or not I like the concepts. However, it tends to drive me slightly crazy when people write a fic that either strictly or loosely follows along the timeline of the first arc (episodes 1-25), but then suddenly decide to include any or all of L's successors to the storyline (while L is still alive). For some reason, this usually just drives me up the wall. But other than that, I'm literally willing to read anything, so long as it is not in a script-like format (hah, I'm such a hypocrite, as the very first DN fic I ever wrote was in a script format). As long as it is written well, I am always willing to make exceptions. Other than that, send me a message or something! I really do love to hear from people (I have this unusual, strong affinity for strangers), and I like to think I generally reply fairly quickly. I really just have one big question: Why are they always girls?I guess because it’s mostly female authors who want to imagine themselves paired with their favourite character or something but just once I’d like to see some OCxMisa action, yanno? I’m a girl myself so don’t think it’s some macho anti-romance crap, it’s just that I don’t know whether these girls actually know what they’re getting themselves into when they say they’d jump at the chance to date L or Light. While I do love reading them to bits, I have a bit of a problem with most of the OC-centric Death Note fanfictions and that thing is how unbelievably accepting all these girls are. Now, I’m all for a little bit of fluff and I honestly don’t care whether you want to pair your character up with Mello or Jesus but I am getting a little annoyed about how most of these fanfics seem to focus on the characters romantic relationship with either L or Light (or, in some cases, both)and how they struggle through the events of Death Notewithoutdealing with the individual characters quirks and how the girl deal with those. I’ll be honest with you here when I say that I don’t think either L or Light are really ‘relationship’ material. For one, they’re both unbelievably intelligent and I doubt they’d be able to be in the presence of us ‘normal’ folk for more than a few minutes without becoming really, really, bored. And, while I don’t think they’d do it on purpose, being around someone that smart is bound to give you an inferiority complex, imagine constantly hanging around a person who can make you feel stupid without even trying? It’d put a strain on any relationship, especiallyif you start to get jealous of their abilities or begin to rely on them too much. I’m going to take Las an example first. He’s got the whole ‘eccentric genius’ thing down pat and, while we all coo about how cute his little quirks are, in reality he’d probably drive us mad. I am a proud L-Fangirl but I’m not ashamed to admit that, even though I find him squeeishly adorable, he’s not exactly someone I can envision bringing home to meet mom and dad. Would you like to explain to your parents why your boyfriend is standing on the furniture? Or why he’s munching on the sugar cubes? Or why he isn’t wearing any socks? Or why he talks in percentages and has all the tact of a tree? I’ll give you that Lightwould probably be okay with your folks. He’d be his usually polite, charming self and your parents would love him and everything would be fine and dandy untilyou get too close to the truth and he kills you off. Or, more specifically, he’ll make youkill you off much like he did with Misora. They’re both really hot and smart and awesome and all that jazz but there’s no way that they’re going to make good loving boyfriends who’ll be able to tend to your every need. Also, on the opposite end of the spectrum, there’s probably no way you‘d be able to tend to theirneeds. What do we mere mortals have that L or Light could possibly want?
