Author has written 6 stories for Twilight, and Jane Eyre.

Hello!

My name is Shavera Seneviratne and I am a 19+ girl from Sri Lanka. I guess it is obvious that I like to write or I wouldn't be a memeber on this site. It is almost a therapeutic activity for me. Whatever I feel makes more sense when I've written it down. My other hobbies include reading and listening to music. I like being alone and thinking. I am an only child so I guess I got used to spending a lot of time by myself.

Books are my best friends in the world. I admit I'm something of an escapist and pretty much revel in fantasy and the unreal. I'm a hopeless romantic and the perfect romances with the fairy-tale endings make me so happpy. On the other hand I'm also morbidly obsessed with tragedy and sadness. For some reason this makes whatever situation more poignant. I don't know if that sounds a bit disturbing but hey, that's just me =D

My favourite books are Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Twilight Saga, God of Small Things, The Kite Runner, Roots, Pride and Prejudice, Wicked, Gone With The Wind, The Godfather, The Aeneid (I'm not sure if this qualifies as a book but anyway...) and books by a Sri Lankan author called Nihal De Silva (RIP) especially the Giniralla Conspiracy. At least that's all I can think of at the moment. The authors of these books are also my favourites. I love poetry and my favourite poets of all time are William Blake, John Keats and Maya Angelou and an amazing Sri Lankan poet Viviemarie Vanderpoorten

My current obsession is the Twilight series. I have never been more captivated by any other book in my life. I don't see it as a vampire story or mythical or fantastical or whatever it is they are calling it. To me it is, first and foremost an intense love story where one person simply happens to be a vampire. People say love stories are hacked and cheesy and soppy etc but I think this is because no one has really wriiten about it, recently at least, in such a passionate way, exploring love for the powerful emotion it is... I mean who really understands love? Can we give it a definition? I don't know about everyone else but I certainly can't and I'm not attmepting to ever but this book portrays it as the sacred feeling it should be so well. It should be a selfless feeling and when it comes to each other Bella and Edward are a personification of selflessness.

And face it, what girl would not want to be treated the way Edward treats Bella? I was just gobsmacked when I read it first because it was so strange to see my 'ideal guy' come to life on those pages. I love everything about Edward: his protectiveness, his gentleness when it comes to her, his denial of natural instincts for her, his gentlemanliness even his old fashioned ways and musical abilities. Any guy like that out there- you have all permission to find me and court me =)

(For anyone who is interested, I just stumbled onto this amazing write up of Edward online. It's a very succint and rather accurate character breakdown for anyone who just needs the basic facts in front of them to remember them. I know how hard it can be to keep all his character traits in mind. Here's the link: www.elitestv.com/pub/2009/05/edward-cullen-of-twilight-is-robert-pattinson. And really, there is more about Edward than there is about Robert. You can completely ignore the stuff about the movie and actor if you wish.)

My taste in movies, I admit is not that great =) I love corny ones that make me cry and they're often the cheesier ones. Anything with romance is good. Like Twilight obviously or Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember. The three Lord of the Rings movies are without a doubt among the best ever. A Streetcar Named Desire is a play I love and the movie is fabulous as well. As is Gone With the Wind.

A lot of people have been criticizing the Twilight movie. It's interesting because I was completely unaware about the Twi phenomenon till I watched the movie. To be honest I loved it. Later when I read the book I did see how some parts had been left out and yes, i do wish the meadow scene was there but on the other hand I also loved the effect the movie had with Bella reavealing what she knew about Edward in the forest. It bowled me over-that's probably my favourite scene. I don't think anyone can expect the entire book to be replicated in the movie but I thought it was amazing how they had played around with the order of events and yet managed to keep the tone. The intensity, the conflict, the angst-it's all there.

People are still have a lot to say about the cast as well. I for one, loved every single person in that cast and cannot think of better people to play the respective roles. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson make the most amazing Bella and Edward. I was recently watching the numerous interviews they have given regarding their character portrayals and I don't see how anyone can say they don't do a good job. Especially Robert. Acting Edward is hard. Writing about him is hard-imagine having to be him. I just have to say there are like three places in the movie where I was completely blown over by how 'in character' he was. One is at the restaurant after he says he doesn't have the strength to stay away from her anymore and she says, 'then don't' he gives this look where you can liiterally see the conflicted feelings battle each other on his face. The second was in the meadow when he says "I've never wanted a human's blood so much in my life," that look is just tortured. And the last is when he knocks James away from Bella in the ballet studio and then looks over at her. His face goes from aboslute fury to absolute agony in a milisecond. It was mind blowing.

If any of the cast happens to be reading this (I know, I wish!) awesome, awesome job and I cannot wait for New Moon. It's my favourite book (like I said -obsessed with tragedy) and I was so in tears while reading it. Judging by the Twilight movie I know this one is going to be incredible!

Since I've gone on so much about this I'm going to balance it out a bit. My other favourite actors are Marlon Brando, Clark Gable, Jonny Depp, Kevin Costner, Viggo Mortensen and Richard Gere. Actresses include Vivien Leigh, Kate Winslet, Liv Tyler, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep. I hope I can be like 1/100th of what these women are!

The music I love to listen to tells a lot about me too as well I guess. I like pretty much anything except rap and R&B save a select few which I like because they make good dance music. Lyrics matter to me and the deeper and more thought provoking they are, the more I like them. Like the books and movies I like romantic ballads =) and my especial favourite is rock, alternative and heavy metal. I love the 60s and 70s rock as well like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Iron Butterfly. Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton and ABBA are also among my favourites. From today's music I love Linkin Park, Muse, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Hinder, Breaking Benjamin, Within Temptation, 3 Doors Down, Switchfoot, Slipknot, Live, Disturbed, Nickleback, Evanescence, Westlife, Secondhand Serenade, Josh Groban, Rascal Flatts, Goo Goo Dolls, Whitney Houston, Paramore, Shyne Ward, Lifehouse, Robert Pattinson, Savage Garden and Shania Twain. That's all I can think of for now. =)

I am just getting ready to head off to college in September to the US. I'm very excited about it and can't wait. I guess that explains the endless amount of time I have to surf the web and greedily look up any Twilight related info I can lay my eyes on. To fill in these months of joblessness I'm finishing my Teacher's Diploma in Speech and Drama. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what that is, Speech and Drama is basically teaching you performance skills to keep your audience riveted. We learn to effectively perform poetry, prose and drama. I've been doing this seriously since I was 8 and I absolutely love it. We sit local exams and are also affiliated to the Trinity College of London.

I have no idea what I will be majoring in college. I only know it will be arts-oriented. I am NOT a science person. We don't get on very well. For my Advanced Level exams (it's like the university Entrance exam here in Sri Lanka) i did English, Greek and Roman Civilization and Political Science. I love all three although my longest love is English. I love acting, and my ideal future would be one where I can act, teach and write.

I am absolutely addicted to the reviews everyone leaves me and ask you once again please, please, please leave me your feedback. I want to improve my writing and the suggestions and comments make it so much easier. I love to know where I go wrong and what I can do to make it better so please feel free to comment!

Top 5 fictional couples:

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan

Saliya and Asokamala (this isn't really fictional- it's a couple from Sri Lankan history; Saliya was the crown prince who gave up royalty because he fell in love with Asokamala, whose name means the Asoka flower, a girl of the lowest caste in society at the time.)

Harry Potter and Giinny Weasly

Aragorn and Arwen

Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet

Favourite Poems:

When I have Fears - John Keats

When I have fears that I may cease to be,
Before my pen has glean'd my teeming brain,
Before high-piled books, in charactery
Hold like rich garners, the full ripened grain.
When I behold upon the night's starre'd face,
Huge, cloudy symbols of a high romance,
And think, that I may nevr live to trace
Their shadows, with the magic hand of chance.
And when I feel, fair creature, of an hour
That I shall never look upon thee more,
Never have relish in the faery power
Of unreflecting love. Then on the shore
Of the wide world, I stand alone and think.
Till Love and Fame, to nothingness do sink.

Still I Rise - Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt,
But still like dust, I’ll rise.

Does my haughtiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
‘Cause I walk like I’ve got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I rise.

Do you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling like teardrops
Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my sassiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard.
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Digging in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still like air, I’ll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I’ve got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history’s shame,
I rise.
Up from a past that is rooted in pain,
I rise.
I am a black ocean leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling, I bear in the tide.

Leaving behind nights of terror and fear,
I rise.
Into a daybreak that is wondrously clear,
I rise.
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.

I rise
I rise
I rise.

I guess I will update more facts about myself when I remember! Hope you enjoy my stories!
