Author has written 5 stories for Voltron. A little bit about me: I loved Voltron as a kid. My brother and I watched it every single day when we got home from school. We were absolutely transfixed in front of the television for half an hour each day. Then, of course, we grew up, and for a while, life and all its baggage took priority, as well it should, I suppose. I didn't entirely forget, however; I remember having arguments about the show in college with others who remembered loving it, too, but we were all a little hazy on the details. I had a Lotor fetish, for a while, and no one believed me when I argued that there was, indeed a blue-skinned villain who had a harem of scantily clad young women. No way, they argued- too over the top for a kid's show. It took having children of my own to realize that they simply don't make cartoons like that anymore. Yes, it was violent, but it was also exciting and romantic and full of adventure. It's such a huge universe, and as an aspiring writer, it has so many possibilities for themes, characters, conflicts, magic, madness, and love. I am so glad to have re-discovered Voltron as an adult. I've grown more into a Keith fan now, but there's still a place in my heart for Lotor, and even for Lance. It's such a huge place, the Voltron universe, and there's room to play with all kinds of pairings. I'm trying to write stories that that add depth to the characters and their conflicts. My biggest fascination right now is the way the stories have so many parallels to the King Arthur legends. I love the combination of a medieval type world combined with futuristic technology. I am currently writing my first Voltron fanfic and my first fanfic in general. It's been helping me grow so much as a writer. I' currently working on, at the end of April, 2009, My Life in Your Service, and I have a feeling it may turn out to be one of those longer ones- upwards of 20 chapters. At any rate, time will tell, and I am certainly enjoying not only writing the story, but also the feedback. Please feel free to keep it coming, and I hope you all enjoy your forays into the Voltron universe as much as I do. May 2009: Still working on My Life in Your Service. I'm loving it, too. What else can I say? I love writing in general, and I look forward to getting to do more of it this month. I'm a teacher, and school's nearly out, so hopefully that will give me even more time to pursue what I'm sure my family thinks is some kind of obsession. Oh well. I'm having too much fun to stop now. I do have a request, though. Can anyone recommend any good, easy to understand, easy to find anime for me? I'm ready to expand my horizons soon, I think, and I have absolutely no idea what's out there, even though there seems to have been an anime/ manga revolution of some kind while I've had my head stuck in books in college and grad school. I guess I missed the Anime 101 seminar. Maybe you guys can help. Thanks, DE May 17, 2009: Have finished Ch. 21 of My Life, but have been hanging on to it because it's longer than usual and that usually means it's two chapters instead of one. So I'll be able to post at least Ch. 21 soon- early this morning/ late tonight, and maybe Ch. 22. Maybe. I've been keeping vampire hours lately, so we'll see. I have a relative coming in to visit and she's very high-maintenance, so I'm concerned I may not be able to post for a few days. June 9, 2009: Is it June already? What happened to May? I finished MLiYS and immediately fell into a kind of stupor. I've never written anything that long before or of such intensity and I miss those dang people. I miss Keith and Allura and even Lance. Especially Lance. Sigh. I haven't posted in a long, long time, partly because of Voltron withdrawal, partly out of mourning The End (of MLiYS), but also because I've been working on another project, a young-adult novel called The Princes of Limestone County that's wholly my own creation. But I miss the fanfic. I've been having Voltron ideas while working on Princes, which kinda feels like I've been cheating on one project while daydreaming about another. So, I'm finally starting work on a shorter (maybe) piece that follows Keith and Allura as they visit the Water Tribes. Alone. He he. But mayhap I'll stop in on Lance to make sure he's being well consoled... Thanks as always to all of you who've pm'd, reviewed, read, queried, and kicked my butt when it needed kicking. June 15, 2009: Just posted Ch. 2 of my new one, Season of Mists. So far it's less action-oriented and more about the romance and the charcaters. Also hope to use this as a learning opportunity to work on being able to write setting. Setting has been a stumbling block, I think, in my other project, and besides just being a lot of fun, fanfics are great teaching tools. But of course, how can there not be fighting with Lotor running around out there? I'm having to go out of town for a few days, which might affect my ability to write and/or post. I'm thinking I'll make the time to write, but it's actually one of the last places that I know of without Internet access, so uploading might be difficult, but I will try my best. Thanks, everybody, for bearing with me. -DE August 5, 2009: Just got back from a week at the beach! Wrote and posted Ch. 14 of SoM first thing. I'm already outlining a new story that deals exclusively with Sven and Romelle in the Pit of Skulls. I'm not planning to finish that story arc in SoM. School's starting back, as well. Not sure if that means less time, or more, yet... | |||||||
