I am part of Unicorns Unlimited, which is how I discovered the world of Twific, and Wide Awake was my gateway drug. Rock.

I am a writer and editor IRL, and I write about the driest subjects imaginable, so I'm hoping Twific will be an outlet for creativity.

At first, I was reluctant. Now I am thinking of trying to write a Master's thesis on the well-written lemon.

Here is a little something I've learned about fanfiction:

One day I became very verklempt when an original idea I'd had for Twific was used by someone else (see: butthurt). I messaged my bosom friend, Adoraklutz--who is lovely--for counsel on how to approach the matter.

She then informed me, "While I understand your attachment, it is, after all, fanfiction, and you've kind of already stolen it to begin with... ;)" It was then I realized... I was having a Mugatu moment.

OBEY MY DOG!!

I realized, I was committing the Twific equivalent of screaming, "I INVENTED THE PIANO-KEY NECKTIE! I INVENTED IT!!"

You see, while Mugatu's statement was true, he invented neither the piano-key nor the necktie. So, someone should have stepped in and told him to put on his big girl panties and STFU.

Anyway, I hope each of you has a friend who would do the same for you. And remember, at the end of the day (or wee hours of the night, when I am writing this), it's still only fanfiction. _

Things I like include: tea, my husband, knitting, shoes, cheese, YA lit, handkerchiefs, soft grass, old suitcases, that sound guitars make when fingers slide between chords, green things, rocky beaches, roundabouts, and people with accents.

I entered an ExB one-shot, Phoenix, in the With A Burning Heart winter olympics story contest, and was floored when it was voted first place in the open poll and selected as the judges' choice. It also received a special mention for featuring the 2010 Paralympics. Thanks so much to all who read and reviewed and voted. I will be posting the story here after I rework it a little bit, and I have a few ideas floating around in my brain for a follow-up chapter.
