Author has written 9 stories for Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, and Emergency. Hi, I'm Neemps (my nickname) and I live in the Los Angeles area. One of the neat things about living in LA is that so much television is shot here. I live about 15 minutes away from Buffy's house, "Sunnydale High" and the mayor's office (all located in Torrance, CA), and about 25 minutes away from "Rampart Hospital" (Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, aka Harbor General) and the firehouse used in Emergency! Almost all the structure fires & explosions on Emergency! were filmed on the Universal lot, and when they did go into actual neighborhoods to shoot on location, they rarely went more than a few miles away from Universal, mostly in the Toluca Lake, Burbank or North Hollywood areas. Also when the dispatcher rattled off those addresses and cross streets, they were real street names, yet randomly located. Usually the streets did not actually intersect, but were parallel to each other, or were on opposite ends of town from each other. I guess that was to keep it sounding legit but to protect privacy at the same time. I'm a huge Star Trek fan and I started a Trek club here in Los Angeles about 16 years ago. www.ussangeles.org I've met most of the Star Trek actors over the years. A few guest actors from the original series later had guest spots on Emergency! I've never written a Star Trek fanfic though. Too much technobabble! One of the things that the people in my Star Trek club like to do is go around and visit the various filming locations in Los Angeles, of which there are many! I also briefly worked at Paramount Pictures as a secretary during the time of the fourth season of Star Trek The Next Generation. I'm also a huge soap opera fan, especially for Days of Our Lives and General Hospital. In the 80s and early 90s, I used to help several of the actors with their fan clubs and fan mail, and assisted with charity events that they attended. I have a degree in Television Production, and one of my internships was at The Bold and The Beautiful at CBS Television City. Some of my Trek friends and I have made some internet "webisodes" based on Star Trek, and we also created an original science fiction show called Frontier Guard. I didn't write for these shows, but I was a producer, director, crew and actor for many of them. Check out www.hiddenfrontier.com We made a movie last year which is about to be released (March 2011), and I was one of the two co-directors. I also had three small parts in it as a actor. A Romulan, a blue Archien and a human. I enjoy writing stories, but they've been few and far between. However, I'll try to write more often. I enjoy reading other people's stories here as well. They inspire me. :-) Update 7/10/11: I attended the "51 In Quarters" event for Emergency this weekend. I have several photos posted on Facebook. If you would like to see them, please contact me at neempers at yahoo.com Update 8/15/11: I am signed up for EMT class which starts at the end of this month. I've already taken CERT training (Community Emergency Response Team), and CPR/First Aid refresher. Now I have to take it again for Heathcare Providers as a prerequisite to the EMT class. Wish me luck! Update 4/16/12: I just passed the NREMT exam and am now a certified EMT! Just a few more hoops to jump through, and I should be zipping around in an ambulance soon. Neemps | |||||||
