My Ramblings about 'Phantom of the Opera':

I first saw the 2004 movie in my high school chorus class my junior year. Prior to this, I had only a vague idea of what 'Phantom' was about, as I had read a version of the book edited for a children audience a long time ago. We were singing a medley of the songs for one of our concerts, and though I instantly loved the songs, I was completely lost as to where they fit in the story. So yeah I was really thankful that we watched the movie over the course of quite a few classes(my hs classes were 90 minutes long, but for chorus and band ppl the classes are 45 min with a study hall the other half).

Having seen the movie first, Gerard Butler will always be my favorite 'Phantom'. I've seen clips of the stage version, but they just don't compare to the deep emotion expressed in Gerry Butler's voice. Period.

The first few times I saw the movie, I did kind of wish Christine would have chosen Erik instead, but I simply could not ignore the short scenes of Meg's curiosity toward Erik. Especially the very last color scene. And so, "After the Curtain Closes" was born, and I immediately became a fan of Meg/Erik pairings.

Which makes 'All I Ask Of You' THE most difficult song to sing for me. Every time I see the movie, I can't help singing along. Christine and Raoul belong together, and it's such a pretty song. But then they show the pain on Erik's face...so incredibly SAD!!!

But yeah, Christine needs someone like Raoul, as she is far too fragile to handle all of Erik's layers upon layers of emotion and back story. Likewise, Erik needs someone like Meg, who is stubborn and caring enough to stick by him no matter what. After all, she IS Mme. Giry's daughter!

So yeah, thank you so much for reading my stories! Your feedback means so much to me...it keeps me writing! I'm always coming up with new ideas, so stay tuned! :)

NOTE: I have uploaded three videos of myself singing "Phantom of the Opera" songs. They can be found at my YouTube account, my user name is Eveningstarz41 and the videos are: A Capella POTO: Think of Me, A Capella POTO: Phantom of the Opera, and A Capella POTO: Wishing You Were Here Again. Thanks for watching them!
