Author has written 6 stories for Star Trek: 2009. Sail Forth- Steer for the deep waters only. About me. I'm Jade. I'm 28. I'd much rather read fan -fic than write it, but sometimes you have to write your own fiction so that you can read about what you want to read about. Hmmm. I think that sounded better in my head. I write slowly, so I rarely update anything more than once a week. Although, lately, its been nearly once a day. I get very nervous to post, because I don't actually think my writing's any good. So maybe I'll be able to write faster, once I can post more and get more used to it. So we'll see. I have a lot of obsessions and love all things Harry Potter, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Twilight Zone and Horatio Hornblower. I've currently only posted for Star Trek. I have other fics, I just haven't posted them. I love quotes and tend to use them excessively. I'm dyslexic. Even my beta'd stories will have errors. I invert letters, especially vowels, all the time. I am obsessive about rewriting. I've rewritten all my stories at least four times (not an exaggeration), so if you haven't read them in a while, go check and see if something new happened. I always break the chapters in the same place though. I write slash and het and general fic. I have no problem with love in any form so long as its written well. Nothing really squicks me. My Soapbox. EVERY YEAR -more than half a million college students are targets of bias-driven slurs or physical assaults. EVERY DAY-at least one hate crime occurs on a college campus. EVERY MINUTE-a college student somewhere sees or hears racist, sexist, homophobic or otherwise biased words or images. These words, incidents, and assaults are repeated with such frequency that they have become… in the words of one expert, “the background noise” of students’ lives. After examining hundreds of cases involving thousands of students, we found this: Although administrators, faculty and staff are vital players in any response, it is the student activist who makes the most difference. Know this: Your voice, your actions, your input matter. Because things improve only when you take action. Because each student has the power to make a difference. And because apathy, in some ways, is as dangerous as hate. (Southern Poverty Law Center, 2003). My Quotes. "In each of us, two natures are at war – the good and the evil. All our lives the fight goes on between them, and one of them must conquer. But in our own hands lies the power to choose – what we want most to be we are." - Robert L.Stevenson "Either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both ideas are overwhelming." -Arthur C. Clarke "The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices. To be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill, and suspicion can destroy, and the frightened, thoughtless search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own: for the children, and the children yet unborn. And the pity of it is that these things can not be confined to the Twilight Zone." -Rod Serling, The Monsters are due on Maple Street, The Twilight Zone "And at that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the City, a Cock crowed. Shrill and clear he crowed, reckoning nothing of wizardry or war, welcoming only the morning, that in the sky far above the shadows of death was coming with the dawn." -JRR Tolkien, The Return of the King " The world isn't split into good people and death eaters." JK Rowling. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are." -Teddy Roosevelt "Life is about change. Sometimes it's painful. Sometimes it's beautiful. But most of the time, it's both." -Kristen Kruek as Lana Lang, Smallville "Don't put your trust in revolutions. They always come around again. That's why they're called revolutions. People die, and nothing changes." -Terry Pratchett, Night Watch "It is the unknown that defines our existence. We are constantly searching, not just for answers to our questions, but for new questions. We are explorers." -Commander Benjamin Sisko, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. "In Germany, first they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me." -Rev. Martin Niemöller “The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. | |||||||
