Author has written 13 stories for Harry Potter, DC Superheroes, Batman, Green Lantern, Hellblazer, Darkness, Superman, and Wonder Woman. "When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am 50, I read them openly. When I became a man, I put away childish things--including the fear of childishness and the desire to be grown-up." -C.S. Lewis To all of you waiting for the novel-length version of In Brightest Day, thank you for your interest. I am over 25,000 words into the story. However, a combination of moving, a new job, and a thrashed PC have left me unable to work on it since November of '08. But now that everything is beginning to calm down and I'm taking an extended break from work, I've been working on it with renewed fervor. In the meantime, I'll be posting a few one-shots and short stories. About Me: My name is Emily and I write crossovers. Every now and then you might find a single-fandom story amongst my fics, but it won't happen often. My two favorite fandoms to cross are DC Comics and Harry Potter, though I don't mind dabbling in others. I am a 28 year old female from South Texas. I have a wonderful husband--Bryan--whom I adore with all my heart. I love spending time with him because we have quite a bit in common, so we have a lot of fun in the process. As for my college degrees, I have a double Bachelor's with majors in both English and history. I have a dual specialization in both subjects: Postmodern and Young Adult Literature, and Ancient Chinese and Medieval history, respectively. I'm also a huge fan of anything and everything related to DC Comics--especially Batman. As a matter of fact, my dissertation was a study of how Postmodernism blends with modern folklore and fairy tales in the Batman mythos. Fandoms: 1.) DC Comics – especially Batman, Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl (Cass Cain), Superman, Wonder Woman, J'onn J'onnz, Jason Blood, and John Constantine. (The comic version, not the movie. Keanu Reeves will never be Constantine to me.) 2.) Supernatural - I'm still fairly new to this fandom, but I think I'm in love. 3.) Harry Potter - Harry himself is my favorite character, though I don't like how weak he seemed in the last book. 4.) Terry Pratchett - The man is a genius. Hobbies: In my spare time I love to read, write, and play video games. I enjoy cooking and, when I have time to spare, like to spend it in the kitchen experimenting and trying new things. I also dabble in armor-smithing, leather-working, and sewing. Favorites: Favorite Books: Anything by Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman, but especially Good Omens and Pratchett's Reaper Man. Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, Kindred by Octavia Butler, and Lucky Jim by Kingsley Amis Favorite Video Games: Gears of War 1&2, Borderlands, Rock Band, Fallout 3, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Kingdom Hearts I & II, Final Fantasy XII, Bioshock, City of Heroes Favorite Movies: Snatch, Moulin Rouge, Pretty Woman Favorite TV Shows: Supernatural, House M.D., Scrubs, and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Favorite Songs: Over the Hills and Far Away and Ramble On by Led Zeppelin and Highway to Hell by AC/DC are my absolute favorite songs. Others include Breathing by Lifehouse, Such Great Heights and The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by The Postal Service, Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield, Always on My Mind and Suspicious Minds, both of which are by Elvis. Favorite Work of Art: 'Amor Vincit Omnia' by Caravaggio Weirdest Moment: Accusing James Bond (a.k.a. Timothy Dalton) of wearing a corset, thereby sparking a 10 minute discussion between us on the subject. "What can you say about a society that says God is dead and Elvis is alive?" -Irv Kupcinet "The person who knows how to laugh at himself will never cease to be amused." -Shirley Maclaine "Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn't try it on." -Billy Connolly | |||||||||
