Author has written 11 stories for Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, Bible, and Leviathan series.

Hi, everyone! I am not new to the world of writing, but I am to the world of fanfiction. I've read fanfiction on and off, and I decided that it would be good to post some of my stories, to see if I had any talent. I don't have a specific genre or series that I'm totally into. I'm inspired by everything, although I mostly write about books. If anything, almost all of my fanfiction is based on books. I also don't write specifically romances or angst or any type of story. I write what I want to. Yea for diversity! I also really don't have a preference for how long my pieces of writing are, although I do really enjoy one-shots and long-shots. I'm mostly a writer and not a reviewer, but if I really like something or I like the author's writing in general, I'll say something. I have had two short stories published in anthologies, but I am too lazy or I can't find contests good enough for me to publish things.

ABOUT ME

I suppose you'll want to know about my life and all the David Copperfield crap, so I'll give a list of the important parts of my life. I'll be mercifully brief.

1.) I live in the wonderful, sock shaped state of Indiana. Some may say it's boring and filled with corn, but I wouldn't live anywhere else.

2.) As of last year, on August 19th, I left my childhood behind forever and became eighteen. However, I still refuse to act my age.

3.) The one interesting fact about my birthday is that it was the exact same day that the Soviet Union collapsed. I just think it's interesting, as I'm a very boring, unfortunate person.

4.) I like reading classics, but most of those classics are written for children, like Anne of Green Gables and the Chronicles of Narnia. Yes, even my book taste is a little childish...

5.) I do, however, have a more mature taste for movies. I love watching movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood. I can't tell you why, but I hate most movies made today, and I love all of those movies with stars most kids my age have never heard of.

6.) Lastly, my pen name is taken from the Pogues song 'Bottle of Smoke.' Congrats if you got that reference! I'm just starting to get into them. I like listening to a lot of U.K. acts, and most of them were most active during the 80's (Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel, The Pogues, to name a few).

ABOUT MY STORIES

I have a few stories posted and even more on the backburner of my brain. So far, these are the ones that are published:

Complete:

Internal Monologue: The night before Bill's Wedding, Hermione reflects on the past seven years of her life with Ron. My first piece posted, and probably my first piece of written fic. I love this story, and think it's one of the better pieces that I've written. I wrote it a few days after the release of the 7th Harry Potter book. I really just wanted to write something from Hermione's point of view, and to write something really reflective and angsty. It's also probably the oldest piece of writing I've posted on here.

The Prince and the Scullery Maid: In the land of Narnia, sensitive Caspian IX is forced to chose a bride at a ball. His faithful friend Ornella, a scullery maid, however, sees this as a chance to win his heart. A Retelling of 'Cinderella'. A piece of fluff, pure and simple. I wrote this early on in my time in the Narnia fandom. Frankly, I'm a little embarrassed by it, but it was the first story to get me hooked on writing fic, and my first multi-chaptered fic as well.

Black Friday, Narnia Style: What would happen if the world of Narnia descended upon a small town Target on Black Friday? One employee finds out...the hard way. This piece was written for Narnia Fan Fiction Revolution's summer challenge. It certainly reigns as the weirdest thing that I have posted, but also one of the funniest. The idea came from NFFR's forum, and from there my imagination went wild.

Disbelief: A Roman soldier is given an easy task - guard a man for one night. But that one night turns into the most agonizing night of his life, as he begins to question all he believes. A Bible fic that I'm pleased with, it also is a piece of older writing that I just posted. I wrote it around the same time as Internal Monologue, and it probably shares some of the same qualities - repression, angst, and a final admittance.

Singing Songs in a Foreign Land: In 1933 Germany, a young Jewish painter must make a choice - family or life. The story of how the painting of the Dawn Treader came to be. A prequel of sorts to my story 'And Where I am Going, Everything Goes,' though can be read as a stand alone piece. This story was mostly brought around by a suggestion of rthstewart's. On an episode of AsCast, the podcast of Narnia Fan Fiction Revolution, the hosts were talking about the painting of the Dawn Treader in the Scrubbs' house. They all wondered how a painting of a Narnian ship came to be in England. Rth brought up my story, And Where I am going, Everything Goes, as it has a painterInspired, I wrote this companion piece to give a bit of background on how the painting came to be, and to give some backstory to one of my characters in AWIAGEG, Mr. Maler. This is a really lovely piece, and I'm very proud of it. You don't need to have read AWIAGEG to appreciate it.

Walking Away: She has been there through all of the important moments of his childhood and knows, with a heavy heart, how each will end. This is a heavily revamped version of my one-shot 'All the Things I Should've Given.' I prefer this one much more, as I think it hits the emotions perfectly. It's four one-shots examining the relationship between Ramandu's Daughter and Rilian, and is written from RD's point of view.

No Scrubbs: Or, How Eustace Handles a Mary Sue. Written on a whim, and certainly not meant to be taken seriously. With the new VoDT movie coming out, I was wondering how the fandom was going to be like after the movie. I am very afraid that it will be full of Eustace/Mary Sue-Self Insert fic, which led me to write this, because, really, Eustace doesn't have time to deal with Sues.

And Where I am Going, Everything Goes: Six years after the train crash, Lucy is sent back to Earth to help an unbelieving man. But is there more in store for her than she believes? My baby at the moment, and my longest piece of posted writing. This is the rare piece of Pevensie fic you'll see from me, as I don't have much of a desire to write about them. I wanted to, originally, write a paranormal romance in the same vein as Portrait of Jennie and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. That evolved into the fic I have now. I've put a lot of myself into this, and I'm very proud of it.

I have a lot of things on the backburner right now, mostly in the Narnia fandom, as there's SO much to play with there.

MISCELLANY:

Review Replies: Admittedly, I am very bad at replying to reviews. I like to wait for all of the initial reviews to come in before I start replying to them. I usually wait about three or four days after I post or update a story to reply, so don't worry if I take forever to respond. I will try, however, to not take longer than a week. That's a self-imposed limit of mine.

Singing Songs in a Foreign Land Coda: After I finished writing Singing Songs in a Foreign Land, a couple of people thought that it extended past the two chapters to include how it eventually ended up at the Scrubb's house. Sorry to mislead you, but it doesn't. I wanted to focus on Mr. Maler's emotional journey and how the painting got created, not the entire journey of the painting from inception to Scrubbs. However, I did make up a small coda that you can chose to read or not about how it did make it to the Scrubbs. I posted it up at my Live Journal. You can find it here: http://bottleofsmoke19.livejournal.com/3728.html#cutid1

And Where I am Going, Everything Goes Appendix: A bunch of little extras for my story, including character sketches, rough drafts of scenes, and much more. It can be found here, at my Live Journal: http://bottleofsmoke19.livejournal.com/8614.html

PLACES TO FIND ME:

Narnia Fan Fiction Revolution: Though I don't frequent its forums as much as I used to, I still love to visit it from time to time, and it is the website that really got me into the Narnia fandom. It's a place to find great screened fics, and people willing to talk about fanfiction, writing, Narnia, and life in general.

The Unforsaken Road: My Live Journal that I'm attempting to start up. Here, I talk about writing, my life, and things in general. Friend me - I welcome comments and questions.

I also have a FictionPress account, where I also go by Bottle of Smoke. And, as always, thank you for taking the time to read my writing!
