Author has written 12 stories for Evangelion, Slayers, Love Hina, Ranma, and Sailor Moon. 6-26-09 I broke my computer down to pieces. I got it to start a few more times and I caught at the bottom of the blue screen of death, "error at physical memory location 00x4389324". It would just drop power after the screen showed a blue screen of death for a split second. So after breaking it all the way appart and put it back together, making sure all connections were properly together (which in turn fixed my two glitched usb ports). Eventually I pulled out my RAM chip to see what would happen, and it started, and now has yet to glitch. Turns out my RAM chip is probably bad...and apparently I have onboard RAM. My RAM chip is actually only 256 MB. (My computer is 5 years old.) So there is the other half of my normal memory that is onboard the motherboard. So my computer is running fine now, although I cannot multitask with 256MB RAM on an XP computer... So updates will be coming soon. 6-15-09 Well. I would like to say sorry to all of you. My laptop decided to sht itself finally. I was aware it was already on it's final legs with the glitchy screen that I had to put a file clip on to work, and only one mostly working USB port out of three. It had wires running out of it because the power plug pin broke, so I had wires running out to power it. It was a trooper and I'll miss it deeply. When you have a computer for around 4-5 years it is perfectly customized to yourself. I came home today and found it on with the screen off. Well, my laptop is not set to go into standby. I thought a restart might fix it. The screen still didn't show a thing, and it appears to not to only be the screen since the harddrive light does not blink like it is loading. It seems it stops in the middle of the system check. The CD-Rom spins and that's it. So, unless the built in screen is part of the motherboard's BIOS system check, it should have still loaded if that was the only thing wrong. I had the next chapter of Dragon's Ring on there, along with the next 2-4 chapters (depending how I parse it) of Birth of a Matriarch, and probably ...30,000+ more words of Eezoon. I was currently writing the slayers arc, and since I removed the after slayers world arc...it was only stashed on that harddrive. If the harddrive is not wrecked, it shouldn't be too hard to get a internal-to-USB converter for a laptop drive...but it is so old that the newer ones might not match up to the pins on the old one. So I might end up ghetto-rigging that, making it take even longer. But... I'm currently low on money, and going to move at the end of this week to start a well paying job at a power plant. So until I get stable there and find free time...it may take a while to rip off the data... even to the point I'll probably have a new computer for a while before I get around to it..(especially because I can't live long without fanfiction and manga online...). I usually relax by reading manga or fanfiction before going to sleep... it is a daily ritual so I feel like I'm gonna lose my mind. I'm currently at a friends place on their computer to post this message. I should be able to pull checking my email occasionally until I get situated... but this is probably going to end up a three to six month haitus on stories I already have stuff for. I AM NOT RE-WRITING those 60,000+ words on that harddrive. So... if I continue to write, I'll probably end up starting a new story or two to vent my creativity to when the urge to write comes...which to be honest isn't that often. I just write for long periods of time when I do, which is the only reason I have as much as I do. Also when I have a computer, but lack of internet...since I can't read fanfiction, I end up writing tons. From which Birth of a Matriarch, Eezoon, and Clear Blue Sky, and To Become a God were born. Only Dragon's Ring was created while having internet access. Well., here's to fixing it quick. I do have some stuff I have yet to back up on my half terrabyte external harddrive that is still on there, so it's not like I'll put it off more than neccessary. If I can manage it, I'll put the old harddrive in a newer computer if I can manage it and it fits the laptop. Maybe even it doesn',t I'll ghetto rig it. Everything on that drive is how I want it... and I really don't like vista. 5-15-09 "Dragon's Husband" is the story I'm currently working on, if it is not already posted, and I'm thinking about continuing my most popular story, "A Different Fate". I have to re-read the manga after 9 to have an idea where to go from where I left off. Then I'm going to attempt to complete the Slayers-verse arch of "Eezoon". Now that I've been away from it for such a long time... I keep wanting to change the way the Universe works to make it more open to other crossovers, but I'm trying to beat myself up to stop that train of thought. To be honest, I really have no idea where to go in "Eezoon" (which means balance in greek or latin... i forget.) much past where I left off. I suppose if I wanted to, I can come up with a new big-bad guy or something, but I don't want to do that unless I can make a decent plot from it. I refuse to beat a fic into the ground. I rather leave it uncompleted. One day, if I every completely give up on fanfiction, I may pick a successor. But seeing how most writers don't seem to avoid the failures below by Ozzallos... I really don't trust anyone but people like Ozzallos, WFROSE, and a few others I can't think of at the moment- to ever continue my fiction... but I'm sure they are too busy with their own. My original goal when i began writing was to attempt the creation of a few popular epics that writers would aspire to emulate so I'd once again find better fanfiction to read. Lately and it's been harder and harder to find fics i want to read. I love fanfiction, but few people write like the Ranma fanfiction writers of old. Evangelion and Ranma have a few good writers, but no one writes epics anymore. That's my first level of pickiness. My whole goal when writing most of my stories is to eventually create a classic epic, bringing back the memory of people who really wrote stories. Most fanfic writers don't write, as much as script things like it was episodes of a cheap tv series. ("Next week in chapter 10..."). To go on, I've found someone that describes my pickiness perfectly, in Ozzallos. Bless his fanfiction writing heart. Since most writers seem to have not figured this out on their own in their (hopefully) years of fanfiction reading and writing, I'm glad someone found the words to describe some fanfiction guidelines/rules. I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY! Check Ozzallos' Profile for the rules of Fanfiction Failure. | |||||||||||
