Author has written 64 stories for Star Ocean, Naruto, Sonic the Hedgehog, Fullmetal Alchemist, Final Fantasy: Tactics, Yu-Gi-Oh, Princess Debut, Harvest Moon, and Mega Man. I am Jennifer Darknight, and I'm 26 years old. I'm a college student with too little sleep and too much free time, and far too many ideas floating around her brain. I enjoy a nice bowl of curry rice and a warm cup of tea, and I tend to ramble more about my various story ideas than I probably should. Due to various reasons, I will not be posting some fics of mine to this site (usually because of R-18 or extreme AU reasons). Or, conversely, I'll be posting censored versions of said fics. If you want to read those, just come on here: springfragranceficblog.tumblr.com Out of everything you should know about me as a writer, there is one thing you should know in particular: Almost everything I write is AU. Not so much High School AUs (though I have written a grand total of...one), but more alternate reality. This goes for every fandom I'll ever write for: If I've written in it or I have an interest in it, chances are that I have some weird and wacky (and yet completely thought out in a way that probably shouldn't be healthy) Alternate Universe in which one small detail (if not a few) in series canon is altered, changing the course of the entire story as a whole. It's sort of a Jen Staple, and I don't mind being criticized for it; writing the canon timeline tends to be boring for me--though I have made exceptions to this rule before. As a warning, though...Genderswap fics are the norm with me. Please make sure to read the summaries of my stories in case this squicks you. Also, I do sometimes write slash (same gender pairings). If this bugs you, please check the descriptions before you click! I'm also an enthusiast of strange / 'crack' pairings. And please note that I write in not just English, but since I'm trying to perfect my Japanese, I write in Japanese as well...and maybe French when I get the courage to. So those of you who understand Japanese and see my Japanese stories on my list, please don't hesitate to read them! --00-- I write for several fandoms, including: --00-- MegaMan X / MegaMan Zero Preferred Pairings: Zero / X (any permutation), Harpuia / MMX!X, Omega / MMX!X, Harpuia / Zero, Cyber-Elf X / MMX!X... Pairings I can't stand: X / Alia, Zero / Layer, Zero / Ciel. Other pairings I like: Omega / Copy X, Copy X / X (any version), Ciel / Copy X (NO REALLY), Alia / Axl, Iris / X, Iris / Zero, Iris / X / Zero OT3. Pet Peeves: -Zero / X fanfic that gets really goopy and mushy. Even if I do consider those two pretty gay for each other, I can never see their relationship as particularly gushy. And when it is, it's probably coming out of X's mouth rather than Zero's. I've always imagined Zero as a 'show my feelings' kind of guy. Little Note: I write a lot of fic with time travel shenanegans, mostly because I'm fascinated with the idea of seeing how X from his early canon would react with the crapsack world of MMZ. Also...weird pairings ahoy. Lots of them. Just as a warning. --00-- Harvest Moon (MFoMT, GB, and ToTT) Preferred Pairings: Claire x Cliff (MFoMT), Ivan (GB) x Ina (ToTT), Kana x Hiro (ToTT), Hiro (ToTT) x Claire (MFoMT), Dirk x Reina (ToTT), Gray x Mary (MFoMT). Pairings I can't stand: Howard x Cam (ToTT), Ash x Cheryl (ToTT), Cliff x Ann (HM:BTN / MFoMT). Other pairings I like: Amir (GB) x Ina (ToTT), and so many others I can't even list them here. Pet Peeves: -Fanfic in which the farmer has a 'dark past' or is a poorly-veiled Mary Sue/Gary Stu stand-in of the writer themselves. There are many ways to make the farmer interesting; these ways don't have to be it. -HM64 or MFoMT/FoMT fic which aren't clearly defined as such. --00-- Yu-Gi-Oh! Preferred pairings: Yuugi x Anzu, The Pharaoh x Miho (!!), Ryou Bakura x Shizuka, Ryou Bakura x Rebecca Hawkins Pairings I can't stand: Seto Kaiba x Jonouchi Katsuya, Seto Kaiba x Yuugi / The Pharaoh, Ryou Bakura x Dark Bakura Other pairings I like: Yuugi x Anzu x The Pharaoh, Honda x Miho, Yuugi x Shizuka, Atem x Yuugi (though I'm really, really picky over which ones I read) Pet peeves: -Fanfic in which Yuugi is made out to be an ultra-sweet, innocent little boy with no faults. Sorry, Yuugi has blatant faults, and he is very, very MALE. -Anzu bashing. I don't really understand why everyone hates her so much--her Japanese persona, anyway (and even her American one wasn't THAT bad). Is it that she's a love interest, or what? Little Note: My characterizations are (mostly) based on Season 0 and the YGO manga, not so much Duel Monsters. --00-- Final Fantasy Tactics Preferred pairings: Ramza x Teta (Let's just add that with bold, uderline, and italics. I mean, shit, my *ICON* is Ramza x Teta, for goodness' sake!), Mustadio x Agrias, Ramza x Ovelia. Pairings I can't stand: Algus x anyone. Other pairings I like: Ramza x Delita, Izlude x Alma, Delita x Alma. Pet Peeves: -People portraying Delita as a through-and-through douche, even during the time when Teta was still alive. -Teta's WoTL name change--but that's only because her Japanese name was, in fact, "Teta", while the English version added an extra syllable for God-knows-why. Little Note: I write using the PS version's names, NOT the War of the Lions translation! --00-- FullMetal Alchemist Preferred pairings: Edward Elric x Alfons Heiderich, Alphonse Elric x Winry Rockbell, Roy Mustang x Scieszka. Pairings I can't stand: Edward Elric x Roy Mustang, Edward Elric x Winry Rockbell (there are exceptions to this rule, though), Edward Elric x Envy Other pairings I like: Any Elric Brother x Scieszka, Alphonse Elric x Alfons Heiderich, and anything with Alfons genderswitched (or with him NOT genderswapped) Pet Peeves: -HRS (Heiderich Replacement Syndrome): This is usually used in Elricest fics, in which Ed uses Alfons in order to feel like he has his baby brother back again, and usually comes off pretty creepy-like. This is especially prominent in doujinshi (fan-comics). -People writing Al like he's some weird 10 year old girl (and you're not genderswapping him--and even then, it's still annoying, because even as a girl, he wouldn't ACT like a girly-girl). Al is not a girl. He may have long hair in the movie, but he is not a super innocent little girl who is just waiting to get loved-up by the mcguffin love interest of the day. Little Note: I write in the first TV series continuity; not so much according to the manga or Brotherhood. --00-- Sonic the Hedgehog Preferred pairings: Sonic the Hedgehog x Princess Sally Acorn, Shadow the Hedgehog x Amy Rose. Pairings I can't stand: Sonic x Tails(!!!!!!!), Miles "Tails" Prower x Cosmo (Correction: I can't stand stories where Cosmo is revived and somehow she and Tails live 'happily ever after'. I've always felt that it cheapens Cosmo's sacrifice. Considering my love for Ed x Hei in FMA fandom, this does feel a little hypocritical, and it is. Unlike Hei's death in FMA, which felt sort of tacked on and useless, Cosmo's death had a deeper meaning, and was pulled off in a tasteful, realistic way), Miles "Tails" Prower x Cream the Rabbit, Sonic the Hedgehog x Amy Rose. Other Pairings I like: Miles "Tails" Prower x Amy Rose, Shadow the Hedgehog x Cream the Rabbit. Pet Peeves: Heavy romantic fic involving the younger cast when they're still children. Amy Rose is 8-12 (depending on the continuity), Tails is 8-10 (depending on the continuity), Cream is 6...they're a little young to truly experience anything more than a crush at that age. -Shadow being portrayed as a cliched emo jerk, rather than just a reticent guy with a really big chip on his shoulder. -Character bashing. Yes, even Chris (hate him though I do. GOD, do I hate him). Little Note: I do not write in the Sonic X Universe. Rather, my continuity and characterizations tend to follow Game (all the way to Sonic Adventure 2) and Sonic SatAM canon. I may dabble in Archie and Fleetway (especially in Amy's case) characterizations, though. --00-- Naruto Preferred pairings: Naruto x Hinata, Neji x Sasuke, Sasuke x Sakura, Lee x Sakura. Pairings I can't stand: Naruto x Sasuke. Other pairings I like: Just about everything else. I'll read anything! Pet peeves: -Bashing of the female characters. Little Note: If/when I write for this fandom again, I will be considering everything past the Sasuke Retreival Arc as Non-Canon (yes, that means Shippuden), and doing major AU from then on. It's not that I have anything against the later arcs...I just don't really like writing it, that's all. I guess it's a silly reason, but still. --00-- As of right now I am primarily working on 4 stories (see: longfics): Mine (Megaman X / Megaman Zero; Omega / X pairing. After being defeated at the end of the Elf Wars, Omega is catapulted beyond time and space, stuck without memories in a past inhabited by the past form of the man who sealed him, X. There will be gory / disturbing content in later chapters, because Omega is...well. Omega. You've been warned! Oneshots and such will be written for this verse. Chapter Three UP!) Polaris (Megaman X / Megaman Zero; Zero / X pairing, among other unconfirmed pairings. This is probably going to be the longest fic of the set, and probably the slowest coming, mostly because of research. X from his early years ends up catapulted into an alternate, destroyed future in which he must decide between helping the people he's grown to love, or finding a way home. Oneshots and such will be written for this verse.) To Find Shamballa (Fullmetal Alchemist Fandom; Ed x Alfons pairing. I am rewriting this story entirely, due to the fact that I'm not at all happy with the way it turned out. The plot will essentially be the same as before, but with fixed plots, characterizations, and much better prose. Yes, Kid!Noa will still have a part. It will be rewritten under the title: "Fullmetal Alchemist: To Find Shamballa". The old story will be up long enough for old readers to see the author's note. After The rewrite gets far enough along, the old version will get deleted.) God Save the Children (Sonic the Hedgehog Fandom; Various pairings, a lot of which are unconfirmed. This is a sort of experimental fic, as well as a story I've wanted to write since I was 9 years old. It takes the Sonic SatAM universe and converges it with elements of SegaSonic and Fleetway, putting a new angle on not only Tails and Sonic's first meeting and their subsequent brotherhood, but also on other relationships and characters, as well as a spin on the series universe itself. On top of the main cast, Amy Rose, Cream the Rabbit (and her mother, Vanilla), Knuckles, and Tikal are present and accounted for. Oneshots and such have been written for this verse. Chapter Two UP!
