Author has written 1 story for Harry Potter.

Hi, welcome to my profile.

I won't write no nonsense about my life... You don't want to read about it and I don't want to write it.

My views on Fan Fiction: Harry Potter

There is much to say on this subject but I'll try my best to keep it fairly short and to the point.

I firmly believe that the most exciting and appealing thing about FF is letting lose your imagination and then managing to make it fit into a pre-existent mold. If you want to write things that are totally incompatible with what JKR wrote about then you might as well write an original piece of work. For example, imagine you want to make a super!Harry fic. There are many ways to make your character more poweful: rituals, education, interpretations of prophecies, mentorships, inherited powers, removal of Horcrux, transfering power and many more. The most important thing to keep in mind when attempting these changes that clash with cannon is to make them as logical as possible. Granted, working around magic, logic seems to sound fairly...ridiculous. But there are certain parameters that must be respected lest your work becomes original, which would NOT be FF.

(NOTE: Just because I consider your work 'original' if it utterly destroys cannon, it doesn't mean that it's good. I've even read one piece of...work...that compromised 5.000 words in which Harry finished Hogwarts, including all he did there, killed Voldemort, changed the views on muggleborns forever and became the youngest Headmaster of Hogwarts ever. Now THAT is something I wish I could erase from my memory.)

Like I said, to me it's all about letting your imagination lose but managing to fit your ideas into certain parameters. Voldemort certainly CAN'T be kind and marry Hermione unless you somehow insert the appropiate changes that could lead to such a...disturbing relationship.

Of course, FF is also appealing because it allows the writer and reader to indulge themselves with scenes and possibilities that JKR didn't provide. As she described it, her world leaves lots to be speculated and created, which makes it extremely pleasent and rewarding for those that actually manage to write something with some semblance of originality and purpose.

If I could point a gun to your heads and demand something of you when it comes to writing FF for Harry Potter, is to THINK about what you're doing before writing. Now, I don't claim to be an expert on this, I'm amateur like the rest of you, but you've got to acknowledge that Merlin suddenly popping in Harry's bedroom is certainly NOT possible.

So that's what I think and hopefully my writing will live up to the standards I committed myself to. You have my blessings to write whatever you like, including stories where Merlin suddenly gives Harry all his powers, but I suggest you don't expect a positive review on my part. In fact, I'm surprised at the amount of reviews (and positive ones!) that some stupid and poorly-written stories receive. I won't dwelve into the mysteries of taste, but people certainly must know that writing means more than a fantastical plot-line! How the hell some stories get more than 1 positive review is beyond me... Well, that's the average reader to you! I just wish the rest of us were so easy to please. It would make grading essays a somewhat enjoyable task. sigh

Harry Potter and the Battle for the Light (Work In Progress):

This story follows canon right up to the Battle for Hogwarts in the Deathly Hallows (WARNING: DH Spoiler). Instead of winning the battle, the side of the light is forced to flee under the onslaught of Death Eaters and Voldemort himself. Order members, young students, house-elves and other magical beings abandon Hogwarts in search for a new place to settle and resist.

First chapter of the story, "Breaking an Entry", slowly shows some of what happened during those last six years.

Given my tastes in fan fic, you are likely to find violence, adventure, well-planned battle scenes, angst and romance. It'll have a bit of everything (No slash though, I hate that.)

What I'm really looking forward to show you is a true battle scene. JKR didn't really show a wizard BATTLE. We got to see some duels or, at most, many duels in the same space. We all know it isn't the same thing.

Thus, you'll find two different sides of one battle engaging in an all-out combat. Be prepared to see creatures, races, new beasts (my invention) and new weapons other than wands and the over-used sword of Gryffindor. Remember, this fan fic is about WAR; not DUELS, not slash, not butterflies, not rainbows of pretty colours and such. You will probably see death, wounds and loss. It will be pretty graphic. However, you will also see friendship, love, justice and life.

Mind you, I don't write a word before I know what's next. Every chapter, every dialogue and every paragraph has a purpose. The story will be coherent through and through. If by any chance I let something slip, I am human after all, please let me know so I can fix it right away.

Chapter 5: Halloween II is up. I'm working on Chapter 6: The Eye of the Storm

Harry Potter and the Sands of Time (Suspended until HP & BFTL is finished):

Every fan fic writer should at least attempt a time-travel story. Many of them are interesting. Sadly, most people just write a superpowered Harry travelling back to first year and wandlessly blasting all to hell or finding himself at the era of the four founders of Hogwarts to train and be more powerful than Merlin... What's the fun in that? Geez, make it interesting!

My story picks up post-HBP. Won't tell you exactly what happens, but you get the gist of it. Harry is forced to travel back in time but, as usually happens to him, something goes wrong. Instead of the year he planned to get to, he ends up a bit further back than he intended.

There's no fun without conflict, naturally, so Harry finds himself in the midst of another war. As I wrote in a review to DobbyElfLord (AD and BD are wonderful fanfics, btw) this is my take on what happens when Harry Potter, his skills and knowledge are forced into the war with Grindelwald. To make it interesting, you will find that there's a huge difference between Lord Voldemort and Lord Grindelwald. Power isn't the only thing that changes, at least not in the usual meaning of the word.

So Harry is forced to meet new people, there's pairings, old acquaintances and a huge war involving Europe and North America, both Muggle and Magical. Not surprisingly, things are not what they seem and even the best of plans can go wrong.

Already starting knitting the major points of the story and even some other small details. I expect to finish HP & BFTL before I start posting this one though, but I just had to get the ideas off my head to break a writer's block and so as to not forget this story.
