Author has written 25 stories for Old Kingdom/Abhorsen series, Shade's Children, Fable, Supernatural, and Girl Genius. FFN has been my home for fanfic since I was in middle school. I devoured the stories here, and though I changed fandoms many times I always knew that there would be fic for me here. A couple of years ago I started this account and began writing my own fic. It's been a wonderful experience, and I feel that I grown as a writer and made contributions to my fandoms that I can be proud of. The feedback I've gotten here has been a major factor in building my confidence and encouraging me to write more. But though I am grateful to the readers and writers on this site, I have become increasingly unimpressed with the management. Rules have always been enforced haphazardly. Harmful trolls have been ignored while legitimate writers were persecuted. The failure of the staff to respond to user complaints has become a running joke. And now, FFN is purging stories based on only, it seems, keywords in the title and summary suggesting sexual or violent content. I have always been disappointed in FFN's policy against NC-17 fics. I think fandom is a wonderful place with a diverse population, and as long as proper warnings are applied we do not need to censor ourselves for our youngest members. Fanfic, like all fic, is capable of dealing with the full range of human experience, and this includes content that is inappropriate for anyone but adults. I have tried to honor the policy, though I disagreed with it, but this new purge of stories is completely unconscionable. People's stories and all their reviews are being deleted without warning. In many cases the authors have left fandom or have no backups - pieces of fandom are being lost forever. I have continued to post my stories on FFN due mostly to nostalgia. I think it's time I stopped. I no longer want to participate in a community whose moderators have no respect their users, not when there are better alternatives. I will keep my stories up on this account for people who still want to read them. I will continue to respond to reviews. But I will no longer post new stories here. If you want to keep following my writing, all my fics are posted at Livejournal. I am in the process of transferring everything over to AO3 as well. My handle on both sites is wallmakerrelict.
