Author has written 11 stories for X-Men, Great Gatsby, X-Files, Law and Order: SVU, and Lost. I've updated! Shock and amazement! Okay, so I'd like to (once again) take this opportunity to apologize to everyone out there who's been keeping an eye on my stuff and has noticed that I haven't posted for a long while. School's been totally kicking my butt, and since my attendance next semester is based on how well I do this semester, I've really been putting in an effort, so fan fiction hasn't been my top priority, and it doesn't look too good for the next couple of months. In fact, I shouldn’t be doing this now, but recent events have caused these stories to call to me with renewed vigor in the last few days. Last weekend, I went to the comic book store in Pike's Place Market (that's the Seattle Underground!) and my friend found Uncanny X-Men 350 in the back issues! For those of you who don’t remember, UXM 350 is the pivotal issue with Gambit's trial and where Rogue leaves him in Antarctica. I just about had a heart attack. I’d never actually seen that issue physically in front of me before, but there it was, and it was the nice cover, too! Even better for me, my friend who found it couldn't afford it, so I snatched it up! (Don't worry, I let her read it, so she still gets UXM-350 goodness. I also bought her a cream puff at the Pike Place bakery, and provided her with the ride to and from Seattle, so we’re even.) It was weird reading it. I've seen ton of pictures from that issue, and read even more about it, from direct quotes on various fan sites to references in the fan fiction, but the whole time, I kept thinking "Well, maybe the on-line community got it all wrong. Maybe Rogue whips around at the end and absorbs Erik the Red, thereby discovering that it’s really Magneto trying to tear the team apart, and then proceeds to kick his butt up and down his own citadel (because really, who’s Magneto to be sitting as judge over an X-Man?), all the while telling him exactly what she thinks of him.” But alas, my fantasies did not come true. It happened as everyone reports it, with Rogue leaving her man with the red-on-black eyes in the Antarctic snow with not only no way home, but no home to return to. So now of course, I’m convinced that Marvel got the story wrong In any case, it’s spurned many-a plot bunny, and while they may not be written down anytime soon, it’s inspired me to at least take another look at what I do have written. So, I have a new chapter! It's actually been done for some time (some of you saw my 'preview'), and I was going to get it up sooner, but then I had to get it back from my Bata reader, which took a little bit longer than I anticipated. By the time she was done, I had (you guessed it!) more homework that I got caught up in. (Just as a side-note: Incidentally, my Bata reader is the same friend who found the UXM 350 for me. She’s known as writegirl on ffn, if anyone wants to check out her stuff. I haven’t read everything she’s got posted, mostly because I’m not familiar with the fandom, and I’m not into the raunchier stuff, which she does dabble in. Still, she is a good writer, and a good friend. I have been Bata-ing her Harry Potter fic lately, and it’s pretty interesting, and really funny! She’s got some great ideas for it, too!) Okay, now that that's over with, on with my regular bio. I'm a college student, originally from Southern California, but now going to school in the Great Northwest, and just having a ball. I like X-Men, especially Rogue and Remy (I'm such a Rogue/Remy shipper!) The X-Files (up to the sixth season, anyway), Gargoyles (like, the coolest cartoon show ever), MST3K (they crack me up!)...Well, I don't wanna bore you, but don't surprised if you see any fics based on the characters from these things. Oh, yeah, and music. I love music - Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, The Beatles, Melissa Etheridge, Björk, Joan Osborne, Loreena McKennitt - and try to put it in my stories whenever I can. And feedback. Can't for get that. I love feedback. It helps me evaluate my work from other people's points of views and (hopefully) make it better. Not to mention it's the only way I know anyone's reading my stuff! Oh, and the icon I'm currently using was made by one of my livejounral buddies, thiscanbegin, who I really haven't talked to much lately. I should change that, because she's so cool, she made me a personalized Last Unicorn icon! Alright, I'll stop rambling. Hope you enjoy! "missy42" | |||||||
