BM is mostly about a diverse group of teens(the nerd, the jock, the rebel, the philosopher, the loner, the "punk", the popular, etc) who have to get out of their town which had a chemical spill, creating zombies and monsters. While trying to leave, characters reveal their thoughts and past to the readers and some are linked to a great evil.
