Quote of the moment : "To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing." - Elbert Hubbard

Biography : Lost in the depths of time... or maybe just in the depths of my memory.

My little speech of the moment :
I'm a great fan of Tolkien's work. Yes, the books he wrote, not the movies. Actually I don't like the movies. You will understand that later. I also like fantasy in general.

Anyways, I don't like Mary Sues. (I speak about Mary Sues in LotR fanfictions, I never interested myself in others.) Although I do admit that good Mary Sues may exist I never saw one. MS are just pathetic and boring. Seriously, all the Mary Sues I've read were either pathetic (which was quite funny) or boring and uninteresting.

And I hate LotR Mary Sues. I can't stand them. Sometimes they are funny in a 'ridiculous' way. That is, when the plot is so stupid and incoherent that it gets funny. Other Mary Sues that I've read, when they did have a coherent plot and the author had an agreeable style of writing, were just utterly boring. I'll be happy to read a good Mary Sue though, just show me where I could find one.

The only thing I hate more than MS - That is, FFnet related that is - are fangirls. (I suppose I could also hate fanboys if I saw any of them) The kind of people that acclaim a fanfic just because Legolas is the hero in it. And then those people start writing stories (nearly always Mary Sues) with Legolas in them. And then other fangirls appraise that story. And then that author writes more and... *pretends to die*

And if it was only that. I don't understand people who react as if Legolas was a real person and that a living being goes through all the suffering he goes through in some stories (notice the some). Yes these peoples are also fangirls. Aragorn fangirls are just variants of Legolas fangirls although... slightly less common.

I said earlier on that I did not like the movies. It's because 90% of the fangirls spawned from the movies therefore 80% of the Mary Sues spawn indirectly from the movies. And the movies are slightly disgraceful to Tolkien's work in my opinion. But that might be me that is just too picky. Not to mention that those two films ridicules the dwarves in an abominable, disgraceful way. (The numbers aforementioned are VERY approximate.)

Speaking of my opinion. Some people won't agree with me, I don't doubt that. In fact nobody has to agree with me. (Except myself because if I don't agree with myself I don't agree in my opinions and therefore I disagree with my opinions and that is just... weird.) Just as nobody should expect me to agree with theirs, I don't expect the masses (aka the fangirls) - or anybody else (with the exception of Me, Myself and I)- to agree with mine.

And maybe I should point out the fact that I don't hate all the fangirls. I hate the kind that go completely berserk about Legolas (or Aragorn (or Boromir (or anybody))) and think they are in love with Legolas - or any other - which is - are - f-i-c-t-i-o-n-a-l character(s).

You might want to know that English is not my first language. I'm not asking for your indulgence when reviewing my stories but I'm just warning you that you sometimes I write sentences with no sense. At other times, I make grammar errors but I mostly make punctuation errors. If you notice any in my stories (or anywhere else), please report them to me. I'll be most glad to correct them.

Speaking of stories, I'm not a very fast writer. I might be very productive at times but such times are rare. Most of my time on FFnet I just read and review.

And speaking of reviewing, I am aware that some times I might make a wrong appreciation of the author and of his story. While it's true that when criticising you do take the demeanor of the prefect judge, no critics are perfect.

Well, I think that's all that I have to say. And long live Constructive Criticism!

P.S. I do thank Mary Sues for two things : "The Official Fanfiction of Middle Earth" by Camilia Sandman and the few (notice the 'few') really good MS parodies.

I also write original fictions. If ever you are interested : http://www.fictionpress.net/profile.php?userid=212047
