the relationship between Xellos and Filia in my fanfic and I am so honored
that she's put so much effort into such a beautiful and forceful video.

Slayers - MODERN DAY I & II

Modern Day is the story of Xellos, Filia and Valgaav a little under 800 years after the events in Try. (Yes, it's a horrible name, I wasn't feeling very creative when I named it, lol) It takes place in, (duh) a modern world wherein they have found a niche. But that comfortable existence is threatened when a Mazoku turns on his own and steals precious artifacts from Dynast and Dolphin: fragments of the destroyed Philosopher Stone! Join Xellos, Filia, Valgaav and new kawaii character Iyzeka as they struggle against their new enemy, Telgaln, learn more about themselves, their races, the universe, and set out to save the world, one fragment at a time!

And for those missing Lina and company, there are many hints about the possibility that they just may return somehow from the inky depths of the afterlife to torment and delight our heroes once again. So please take some time out of your day to relax and enjoy this dramatic, humorous and romantic tale of immortals who really aren't that different from us mortals after all.

June 19, 2011--

Holy cow, time has passed. ;-; This upcoming September, CEP and I will be going to Japan to study for a year! After that we're thinking of going to China to work and try to get fluent in Chinese as well. The past 2 years have been really rough. Let me recommend that if you ever are asked to move in with an elderly relative and take care of him or her, say NO!! My sanity, self esteem, mental and physical health have all been compromised and damaged by staying here. It's a no-win situation, and it only gets worse as time passes. I am really looking forward to Japan - a place where I can study and do what needs to be done without having to worry about whether my grandmother will think I am neglecting her by doing so.

I can't promise much, but I can promise this. I will finish Modern Day. Some sites have it listed under "Dead fics," but I say, not on your life. This fanfic might be in a coma, but it's not dead yet. I refuse to let it die.

Once again, thank you all for the support and patience. I probably don't deserve it, but that's what makes it so valuable and meaningful. Many many thanks, from the depths of my soul. I haven't forgotten any of you, and I hope you don't give up on me - or Modern Day.

June 18, 2009--

Wow it's been forever since I updated my bio here! Things are going well but very busy. I'm really sorry I've not updated any stories but I haven't had the time or inclination to write. I have been going full time to college at a 4-year university (much more difficult than a community college!) and this summer is the first time in 8 months I've had a real chance to relax. But I am still taking care of my grandma also. (made some homemade ice cream though . . .)

I felt inspired a few times but it fizzled out. But I keep praying that I will be able to return to you guys and give you pieces of my heart and soul. I also pray you are all doing well. Remember, message me if you need anything at all. I will take time to talk to you no matter what.

Real quick: I'm female, 31 years old, full time student at college, and I love Slayers, Spirited Away, Gundam Wing, Kung Fu TLC, Ranma 1/2, Babaylon 5, Star Trek stuff, Blue Seed, The Sentinel, Early Edition, X-Files, The Last Unicorn, FFX & X-2, Pirates of the Carribean, and some other things. I dislike Yaoi and Gay unless it's IC, and let's face it guys, it's only IC with The Sentinel (and Quatre and Trowa). Hell, it's more IC then straight is, with THAT series! LOL.

MODERN DAY I & II SUMMARY

This is a summary for those readers who have already read Modern Day and want to be able to read the newest chapters without reading the whole damned thing over again (it's way too long, isn't it?).

Read with caution if you've not read Modern Day yet. The summary is boring! But the story is good... :-p

Modern Day Summary

In the modern era, 700 years after Lina’s death, Xellos learns of the murder of two Mazoku lords, Dynast and Dolphin by another Mazoku named Telgaln. Telgaln had used a piece of the philosopher stone and afterwards stole Dynast and Dolphin’s pieces (of which there are five in total). He, Filia and her son Val go to Egypt to look for one and find the forth piece in an as-of-yet undiscovered burial chamber, but Telgaln discovers them. He chases them to Wolf Pack Island, where they break through the magical barrier around it and find refuge with Zelas.

Zelas takes the stone for safekeeping and introduces them to the wonders of her island, and to Iyzeka, Xellos’ little sister, who has an unusual innocence. After studying Val’s unusual powers, Zelas then sends them on a mission to China to find the last piece of the stone. They pose as family members, and Filia and Xellos become closer, learning more about each other and themselves. Xellos’ emotional growth broadens, but his stability weakens. In the process, they meet new friends, and new enemies – including a new Mazoku named Kendar who works for Telgaln - and with their help they defeat Telgaln’s physical body.

However, Telgaln is quick to regain his strength and the two dragons and two demons once again flee to Wolf Pack Island, where Xellos battles Telgaln long enough for everyone to escape through the shield. He is left so damaged by the battle, however, that his physical form is destroyed, and he is brought to Zelas’ castle to heal.

While healing, Xellos ponders the discovery of one of Lina’s amulets, and begins to think dark thoughts about his existence. His newfound emotions of guilt and affection swirl within his malevolence, and he makes a crazed choice to seek out Lina’s soul in the afterlife, in the hopes that he will perhaps find an answer as to how they can defeat Telgaln, and perhaps an answer to his own struggle between evil and good.

Xellos manages to break through the barriers between this world and the next, and journeys through the Land of the Dead. He finds familiar and strange creatures there, and is confronted with himself. In the end, he returns to this plane with another of Lina’s amulets, a disturbing amnesia about his trip to the netherworld, and reawakened memories of the twisted evil of his youth.

Filia receives a vision while Xellos is away, and from it Zelas contrives a plan, to hide for 30 years on Wolf Pack Island with only 30 days passing for them. This trip into the future they are about to commit to, along with training for Filia and Valgaav. Yet Xellos still festers with newly remembered wickedness, determined to not subjugate his loved-ones to his evil. Will he be able to spare them? -- the end . . . for now.
