Author has written 9 stories for Angel, Dragon Ball Z, Lord of the Rings, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Troy, Danny Phantom, and Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.

Anyway, I’m a 20 year old Canadian girl who’s totally awesome (lol). I'm a Maritimer by birth and an Albertian by choice for eight months out of the year. And proud to be on all three counts!

Since I’m on ff.net I’m going to go with the assumption you realize I enjoy writing. Besides my own stuff, I love writing anything LOTR related. What can I say? I’m a total fan girl. Buffy the Vampire Slayer comes in a close second to what fandoms I love to write for the most- show ended years ago and it's still one of my favs. Now what's quality, eh.

And along with my stories on my profile, I have four ‘joint fics’ on my friend’s account (Erin Wood) and it’s the ‘LOTR 2003’ trilogy (plus DVD extras). It only took us like five years to finish, so that would explain why I haven’t so much as thought about my own stuff. Anyway, I totally think you should check it out, because I can say that I consider some of the later stuff some of my best writing. Oh, and to go with that one of my fellow authors, the lovely Jane, has a deviant art account (musicartlover) with a bunch of fan art from our story! Go check that out too!

So here's the part where I give you some links and hope you follow them:

Things I love (when it comes to fanfiction)

Obviously, reading a well written story about something I love (AKA movie, book, etc). It’s fun to read fan made stories, because you never know what someone is going to come up with! It can either be something that you could see as an actual chapter/episode/instalment/etc or something completely random that still goes along.

AUs. They can be so much fun, if you go about it in a good way. It’s so amusing to read a story that takes characters that we all love and throwing them into a situation/world that’ll never exist normally. I have to be in a certain mood to read (and write) them, but when I actually take the time I usually have a good time.

The possibility of changing the ending of something when I hated the real ending. When I’m displeased with the way something ends (the ending of the Animorphs series and the end of The Sweet Far Thing and of course Buffy for example) I always know I can hit FF.net and find an ending I like. It makes me feel better when things end the way I want. You can just ignore anything you didn’t like and pretend they didn’t happen (like DBGT in my case).

People who I think are meant to be together actually getting (and staying) together. For starters, I DO NOT and will NEVER get into a shipping war! Those are just insane! I’ve never liked a couple that much that it would rope me into one of those. But there are couples I think would go good together (Zuko and Katara from the Avatar cartoon for example, and Buffy and Spike were meant to be- stupid writers...don't mind me- I have season six issues), but they never did for real or stayed together. This goes up with the whole changing the ending thing. It’s great that you can go and find someone who feels the same and has written something about it.

Crossovers. Those are just so much fun (and usually hilarious) to read. Of course it’s annoying when someone is magically transported to a new world (or something like that) and everyone is magically accepting of said new person/world/situation, it’s totally wrong. Especially when at least one side of the cross over is running for their lives or are threatened by some evil force. Because clearly they wouldn’t be suspicious of any new, random person showing up out of nowhere. Oh, and as a little side note, has anyone ever noticed that Harry Potter has been crossovered with probably every possible storyline like, ever?

Things I really dislike (when it comes to fanfiction)

I’m going to start the list off with the obvious choice; flames and flamers. I honestly don’t see the point of them; as far as I’m concerned they’re a bunch of immature insults. Now don’t go thinking that I’m one of those authors that are so assured of their greatness that they can’t take criticism, because I can (and quite honestly, I really haven’t gotten that many flames); constructive criticism is a great thing, because it helps an author see where they are going wrong and how they can improve. I love getting anything that can help me improve. What I can’t stand is reviews that blast anything you’ve written and then give you no input about how you can get better. WTF is that going to accomplish, besides make someone feel bad (not that I ever take any flames to heart. I just laugh them off). Wow, because that is so productive. Don’t get me wrong, giving a bad review is acceptable, but flames are just stupid; yes, let’s be a complete jerk and do nothing but insult (oh, and I love how some people make lovely assumptions about the author based on what they’ve written, like calling them a slut)! I especially love it when it happens to a young author (I got on here when I was thirteen, and I’ve since seen younger), because that’s not going to make their self-confidence any better eh? God knows there is probably some kid out there who committed suicide or something because some flamer decided to make them feel worthless. Way to go.

Disclaimers. What the heck is with those? OBVIOUSLY you don’t own anything! If you were the real owner, why in the world would you be writing on a website called FANFICTION (note the word fan in there) instead of getting paid by writing REAL stuff?? Disclaimers are so effing POINTLESS! They annoy me SO much!

Grammar that goes way beyond bad. Yes, I make mistakes with grammar all the time, but when a fic is so full of grammar mistakes that it’s grating to read, I’m driven crazy. Especially when beta readers are available, and if you don’t feel comfortable using one, get friends to do it (that’s what I do). The one that just makes me cringe is ‘your’ and ‘you’re’. I just shudder when I see that wrong.

Stories written in script format. Sorry if you write that, but it just bothers me. I don’t know why, but it’s not something I will read. No matter how great the story sounds.

Stories that have a great plot, but are abrupt and have absolutely no description. Okay, when I first started I was guilty of this one too, but since I’ve grown up I’ve grown to love description (reading Lord of the Rings started that one). Description is one of the things that makes a story, and even if you have great dialogue and plot, it’s going to be rushed and over way too quick if you don’t have some.

Putting chapters in a story as separate one-shots. That’s just a tad annoying (not that I don’t read them though), because I hate having to search for them. It’s just so much easier to have them all in one sport. It’s some sort of one-shot sequel fine, but when it’s a continuation of one story, why not just put it all in one place? Make it easier on all us readers. Especially since if the first one-shot is good, I’ll always go searching for the next ones.

Putting MSN words in the middle of a story. I cringe when I see a ‘WTF’ or ‘Gr8’ in the middle of a story (if it’s written in the middle of an online conversation, that’s completely different). It makes me wonder if the teachers are right when they say MSN is destroying the English language. Using those is NOT alright, because you’re writing a proper STORY, not an MSN conversation! Stop being lazy and use real words! Argh!

Too much OOC in a character (a little is okay). If you make a character OOC, then the story loses the ‘real’ feeling to it.

When people demand reviews before they update. God does that ever bother me. It makes you sound so arrogent! Seriously! I mean, it's one thing to set some sort of goal like 'I'll wait either two weeks or until I get blank number of reiviews', for yourself, but DO NOT announce it as a demand at the end of a chapter. It's like you're holding your own story hostage. Maybe it's just me, but an author should be grateful for the review itself, not by how it improves the number count. And way to punish the people who ARE reading because your ego needs a certain amount of reviews to make it feel worthwhile.

When an author writes the theme song into the chapter. I'm sorry, it's pointless.

People telling me I've spelt certain words wrong when I technically haven't- I live in Canada. We tend to add 'u' into words. Colour for example. Tell me all you want that I've spelt it wrong, but I haven't. So when you see the words with the added 'u' all I have to say is I'm CANADIAN! That is the way we do things here! Get over it!

Other random points (when it comes to fanfiction)

Unlike many people, I don’t mind OCs (The biggest story I’ve written on this site is an OC fic), and by extension Mary Sues. They can be a tad annoying at times, and if they’re written wrong it can ruin the story. I also don’t mind romance between an OC and a real character (again, done it myself), as long as they don’t come between a character’s relationship that I like (I totally hate when a OC breaks up a perfectly good couple).

I love collaborations (again, as proved by the fact I wrote a trilogy with three friends on one of said friend’s account) and they are, for the most part, great to read. I love trying to pick out the different writing styles and figuring where the authors switched.

So that’s really all I have to say at the moment! Hope you enjoy anything you read!

Random- Two of my fics (New Divide & Solace) got archived here: http://www.the-crypt.net/. It's a great archive. Basically a whole bunch of Spike centric stories, so if that's your thing go check it out!

Another random thing- here's a forum that you should all check out! fanbbs.net . It's a forum about fan-works and fan-culture in general, to discuss about anything made by fans (mainly, fanfiction, of course). Not mine, but I was asked if I could do a little advertising for it. Totally worth it!
