So, I went to one online Japanese dictionary to see what my ‘Cherry Bomb’ OC’s, Maiko, name meant. The first site, didn’t have maiko. Mai, however, means ‘counter for flat objects such as sheets of paper’. Using ko as ‘child’ means maiko could mean ‘child of paper counter’. Which fits with Maiko being a seal maker. Hmmm, maybe her parents were secretaries, or that’s where she was birthed or even conceived… Moving on… I decided to go to another Jap dic site. I typed in maiko there and got ‘apprentice geisha, dancing girl’. I just died laughing because that fits too. Before the start of ‘Cherry Bomb’, Maiko was fighting an enemy while sticking to the bottom of a tree branch. Fighting is often compared to dancing. January on my 2012 Japanese woodblock picture calendar has a 'Coast of Maiko'. Not a bad looking picture. Looking up a more modern reference, I found there is a park in Japan called Maiko. It's a portion of coast at one end, or the other, of the Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge which links the main land and Awaji Island. There is a type of Japanese maple tree known as the Beni Maiko. It mean “Red-haired Dancing Girl”.

I've got the Harry Potter fanfic virus. But I can't post any of my 23 story starts until I finish reading the series. I've only read books 1-4. I'm having trouble reading because I intensely dislike Rowling's writing.
