BoF clans intermarried and merged with humans becoming modern day magicals (purebloods would have some from all clans, but one primary active descent)(muggleborns are either rare human with the gift of magic with no relation to clans, or descended from squibs)

Ministry suppresses knowledge of clan descent / assorted magic (with dumbledore’s hidden support)
(Umbridge and others hate knowledge of this and spread their hate to all none human species, umbridge is of course a toad/frog clan …)

Potter’s have an old treaty with the goblins to keep a certain ritual secret that allows them to gain the memories of a random ancestor upon their coming of age, whether by ministry rules at 17 or earlier if last survivor, (goblins allowed to use it on their leaders, so long as they always have it prepared for Potter use, and don’t offer it to others at any price)

Harry goes to gringotts before third year, gains head of house status and goes through ritual
(goblins required by above treaty to see he gains the title so they can use the ritual)

Ritual gives him the memories of ryu from BoF3 including some of the skills, could have him use magic ball against dementor’s
(patronus is this plus pure positive emotion, unfocused emotion causes dispersal as mist, while focused allows it to form into the guardian animal form)

kyrie against dragon zombie in tournament (dragon handlers never seen one in generations, don’t recognize the green blood and other signs as anything but an unknown long-term illness) and to save cedric (only works if used within certain time limit and the wounds are healed to not fatal, keep chance to fail, so works on killing curse)

(Perhaps have the potter’s be windian’s while lily is dragon clan, so potter journal’s teach how to release wings, while harry has to wait ‘til facing the dragon to change into warrior form, like BoF4’s ryu he would start with warrior and then learn breath’s etc., too much human blood stops full dragon transformation) (Parseltongue is a draconic trait, riddle = dark dragon clan? perhaps)

Hermione had her natural form unsuppressed and altered by polyjuice incident in second year (restoration of her form and its suppression was her “cure”). Learns to change back and forth to her cat form after learning truth of inheritances from harry (and he has her go through ritual after third year where she gains Katt of BoF2’s memories, including her 3 elemental spells)

Riddle used ritual to gain power from myria and/or deathevn (caused his wraith-like survival)
