Author has written 3 stories for Storm Hawks, Hanna-Barbera, and Merlin. Hi! I love fanfiction, manga, anime, books, tv shows. You name it and chances are I'm probably obsessed with it. Feel free to skip over my obscenely enormous profile page. Oh, and I'm fairly competent when it comes to grammar, so feel free to ask me about anything, and I'll do my best to answer. Also, don't take it personally if I point out some minor errors in a review or something: I'm a bit of a Grammar Nazi, and I've been trying to rein it in lately. A little about me. (Warning: I tend to ramble. Do not read the following unless you wish to hear my life story) Name: You can call me Lyra Grey, cuz I think that's a cool name. Gender: Female Species: Unknown Planet of Origin: Unknown Mental Status: Stark Raving Mad (yes, all capitalized) Age: Older than I look(Seriously, I know I'm short, but people still shouldn't be off by about 10 years when guessing.) Height: 5"1 on tiptoes...looking in a funhouse mirror. In other words, short. Weight: 100 pounds soaking wet Hair: Red/gold(sounds better than 'orange' or 'ginger'), falls down to my lower back. Eyes: Icy(sounds cooler than 'light') blue, grey, or green, depending on the lighting and my mood. My pupils have a sort of gold ring around them (probably what tints them green in certain lights). My sister keeps telling me my eyes are yellow...Oh, and I just recently realized that my eyes might have central heterochromia, so if you search that in Google images, you should get a pretty good idea. General physical description: Kinda scrawny, but my chest and keister are even, so that's okay, well-muscled (from martial arts), pale (enough so that doctors often ask me if I'm feeling faint whenever I go in for a check-up), lightly freckled (knees, elbows, cheeks and nose, knuckles, shoulders), glasses (I am blind without them, and I can't stand contact lenses). Hobbies: Reading(100% certified Bibliophile), drawing(and just about every other artistic technique you can thing of), writing, martial arts, collecting strange things(bones, weapons, art, coffee, coins, information), amateur fortune-telling, chess, Sudoku puzzles and intellectually stimulating games, crocheting, flower-and-herb-drying, gardening, cooking, collecting quotations, snowshoeing, skiing(if you ever feel like watching someone fly down a steep hill screaming, go skiing with me, just don't be surprised if I hit a tree, or a fence, or a hay bale, or...I think you get the point), hiking, volunteering at non-profit organizations (especially those involving animals), cooking (even if a certain someone-my sister-deems my food inedible), archery, taking long walks at night (another thing my sister disapproves of, considering the fact that we live in the middle of nowhere, and have had to elevate our bird-feeders due to pesky bears), climbing trees. Accomplishments (or, the bit where I shamelessly brag): I am a Senior Green Belt 7th Keub (aiming for Black Belt) in mixed martial arts (Taekwondo, Hapkido, Tai Chi, some Kungfu). I have training with: Japanese Bo Staff, Chinese Bo Staff, Tonfa, various firearms, knives. I am also an Assistant Instructor in the martial arts dojo I train at. I am a Certified Babysitter. I have worked at a Winter Sports Center since a young age for my Aunt J. I can easily swim 5 miles nonstop (With a frog in one hand :P). I have traveled the U.S., Europe, Mexico, and South America. I have petted wild deer. I have slept outdoors in trees, ditches, fields, boxes, etc. I have caught fish and snakes with my bare hands (courtesy of a wild upbringing). I have come within 6 ft of wild bears. I have kissed a dolphin. I have ridden camels. I have had experience with horses from young age. I read every day. Dislikes: Loud noises (I don't startle easily; the problem is that my ears hurt and I get headaches easily. Even loud music does me in) Bright light (This includes bright sunlight) Excessive heat (anything above 60 F) Boredom (Who doesn't hate boredom?) Gossip (Far too petty & boring) Homework Porch Lights/Yard Lights (When I take walks at night, they blind me, and hurt my eyes) Crowds Being Hugged/Touched Braces (finally got them off!) Mornings (Unless I'm sleeping through them) Soft drinks (Pop, soda, or as I like to call it: battery acid) (I'll make allowances for good root beer, and I put some grape and orange sodas on the same level as popsicles) Strong smells (nail polish is the worst) Big cities Rap Music/Heavy Metal (I just don't like it) Cigarettes and cigarette smoke (Cancer sticks, bleh!) Make-up (I never wear any. It's too annoying, and pointless. I look fine without it) Cellphones (Can't figure out how to use them, don't have anyone to call) Injections (Practically a phobia. I hyperventilate, thrash, pass out, etc. It's not a fear of needles, because I sew, and I'm fine with stitches while conscious, so I know it's specifically injections) Swimming pools (Unnatural, chlorinated, creepy) Hornets (Again, almost a phobia) Likes: Manga Anime Books (I've been reading every day since before the first grade) Fanfiction (obviously) Tea, coffee, and milk Silence Nighttime (My Dad says I'm a 'night owl') Animals (all of them) (note: this does not include ticks) Cold weather Rain Fog My family Darkness Dried fruit Swimming (in natural bodies of water, such as lakes. No pools for me) Kayaking Ultimate Favorites: Movies, TV, Anime (In no particular order) Little Stories from my Life (things that come up when I meet people) Scars -I have a scar across my hairline, above my right brow. I got it when I was about 4 years old. I was at my Aunt J's house. I started petting Boon, their large wolf-like dog of undetermined breed. Problem: He was eating. Boon interpreted my touch as a threat, and ripped open my forehead with his teeth. My parents and Aunt J found me with a bloodied face and a flap of skin hanging over my brow, and rushed me to the hospital. The doctors said I'd be fine, cleaned my wound, gave me some local anesthetic and stitched me up on the spot. When we got back to Aunt J's place, I went straight to Boon, nearly giving everyone else a heart attack. By the time we left, I was much happier, Boon was sleeping after playing with me non-stop, and my parents were ready to lock me in a padded room. -I have a long(about a foot long), thick(about a half inch wide) scar across my right side. I got it shortly before the scar to my forehead. I remember pain, and doctors. I remember getting an ultrasound (& giggling when they smeared jelly on my tummy). I remember waking up in a hospital bed (presumably after surgery) thinking my leg had been broken (I later realized the sensation was my leg "falling asleep"). My parents have yet to tell me how I got this scar. They told me early on that they wouldn't lie to me, but that they couldn't tell the truth. They told my siblings and me to tell anyone who asks that I got this scar from kidney surgery as a kid. I haven't broken that rule until now, but hey, this is the Internet. I can hide behind the mask of anonymity. -I have matching circular scars on the backs of my hands, right below my middle knuckles. The scar on my left was from my youngest sister's nails. We were play fighting, and she tore open the back of my hand. It bled heavily, but I thought nothing of it, as we often draw blood in goodwill. Later, as we were practicing 'back fists to the top of the nose' on kicking pads, I found out that every hit worsened the cut. It scarred more as a result. The matching scar I received from another little sister, the second oldest of us girls (I'm the oldest). We were also play fighting, and she tore the back of my hand with her teeth (she was aiming for my wrist). I met the same training issue I'd faced with my previous injury, and as a result this cut scarred more as well. And now I have unforgettable mementos of my little sisters. Every time I see the scars on the backs of my hands, I think of my sisters. I don't really know it that's disturbing, but neither do I really care if it is, so... Fun Facts -I do not sunburn. I may be paler than paper, but I have yet to sunburn despite hours on beaches, in direct sunlight, without sunscreen. My family members all fry, even with their tanned skin and liberal application of sunscreen. I do not burn...or tan. I stay the same shade of ghostly white. The only visible reaction I get is an increase in freckles. My freckle density waxes and wanes with the amount of sun I'm exposed to. I think it's cool. My family hates it (out of jealousy :P). -I have really good balance. It is very difficult to knock me off my feet. I've sparred multiple Black Belts, and they've all found it next to impossible to bring me down (our dojo allows take-downs & grappling). Leg sweeps don't seem to work, and scissors kicks usually end with me holding the upper hand. My solid stance is inherited from my Dad. He is even harder to take down. He is also one of the few people who can take me down about 30% of the time. He got his solid balance from Grandpa, who has unshakable balance even in his seventies. I'm also good at walking along narrow structures. This stems from a childhood spent climbing everything within reach, crossing rivers using slippery stones and thin branches, running across narrow ledges. I have no problems with heights, either. If it can hold my weight, chances are, I can and will walk across it. -I was born without Wisdom Teeth. The dentist was awfully surprised when he took x-rays and couldn't find any. I get this from Dad's side of the family. His mom and some of her blood relatives were also born without Wisdom Teeth (Personally, I think we just absorbed all that wisdom, instead of storing it in teeth that just get ripped out anyway ;P). Dad says it's probably evolution (So I'm more evolved? Still yay!) -My Grandpa has amber eyes and slit pupils, like a cat. He doesn't find this odd...Nor does anyone else in my family. Mostly because Grandpa's side of the family are often born with slit pupils, like some sort of genetic mutation. Grandpa's sister, Caroline, has one normal dark blue eye and one amber with a slit pupil, which is even freakier. I only recently came to see this sort of thing as odd when a friend brought it up, and I realized that I'd never seen a non-relative with slit pupils. For the record, my pupils are not slit (even though I think it'd be awesome). -Quite a few of my pressure points don't seem to work properly. In Hapkido, we stimulate pressure points (which causes pain) to manipulate our opponent. It was during this training that I found out I feel only mild discomfort at best when I should feel sharp pain. So far, I have yet to discover a functioning pressure point. I'm reassured by the fact that one of my instructors experiences the same issue, although this doesn't stop the other instructors from playing around with my apparently malfunctioning pain receptors. Nicknames -I have quite a few nicknames, but my most used nickname would be "Ginger" or "Ginja." It used to be "Red," but my sister now seems to make a distinction between redheads and gingers, and decided that I should be called "Ginja"instead. Why? Because I'm apparently a ginger ninja...Yay...My sister has a lot of fun teasing me about my hair color (ginger). I think she's following an odd trend among teenagers these days, wherein they label gingers soulless and abnormal. I suppose I'll just have to ignore her until it passes. Although, I'll probably get stuck with the nickname, which is okay because I do not find it insulting whatsoever. -The eldest of my two younger sisters is nicknamed "Sharp." Her nickname is less complicated. Her favorite activity is archery, and her second favorite activity is handling firearms. Peeling her away from gun catalogs and articles on high-grade sniper rifles is a pretty regular occurrence. For one of her birthdays, Dad gave her a handgun of her own. I can't remember what make or model, because she won't let me near it. As kids, we would often go 'shooting' with our Uncle, and it made her happy when I praised her skills, so I started calling her Sharp (short for sharpshooter) because it made her smile. -My youngest sister is nicknamed "Choke." She got her nickname because her favorite activity is choking people. As little kids we'd be wrestling, and once she got her hands around someone's neck, she'd get this slasher smile that gave me nightmares for a week. Prying her off usually took the combined effort of two or more people. Everyone valued their lives too much to call her "Smiley," so we settled for "Choke." As a side note, I am now extremely uncomfortable with anyone getting close to my neck, which includes laying a hand on my shoulder or giving me a hug. -My Grandpa on Dad's side got the nickname "Gray" because he was born with grey hair, and wears grey clothing whenever possible. It's kind of similar to how I got my nickname, by hair color, although the clothing bit doesn't correlate as I don't wear a lot of red or orange (I think it clashes with my hair). - My Grandpa on Mom's side got called "The Vampire," because he liked to drink cups of blood, never sweated or carried a scent, and had sharp canines and a scary smile. Apparently the blood-drinking thing is considered perfectly normal for people of that time period ...Or maybe my relatives just tell us that so we don't think about it too much. -My Grandma on Dad's side was nicknamed "Lace" because her favorite activity is needlework. She makes doilies, blankets, tapestries, stuff people make with yarn, thread, etc. Her favorite is lace. She does really awesome stuff with it, but I'm not really an expert. All I can do is crochet, patch, and hem. Ooo, tricky. Itachi is pretty cool, and Tobi is funny. I also like Hidan. 13) Are you Pro-Sasuke or Anti-Sasuke? Pro-Sasuke. 14) Have you seen all of the Naruto episodes so far (including Shippuden and fillers)? Yes, waiting in suspense for more. 15) Have you read all the chapters? Not all of them. 16) Do you believe Naruto has ADD? Well, maybe a little... 17) Sub or dub? Both are fine by me, but I prefer sub 18) Pro-Sakura or Anti-Sakura? Anti-Sakura. But not huge about it. I do not want to read a fic about her, but I don't exactly hate her. I like reading fics where she's paired with someone like Lee or Sai, or where she acts as a sister-figure to Naruto. I guess I'm just Anti-Obsessed!Sakura. 19) Tobi= Annoying or funny? Funny! 20) Do you even know who Tobi is? Uchiha Madara. 21) Gai= Sexy beast or ugly nerd? Neither. I think he's funny! He already has experience with his hentai-jutsu. 23) Rock Lee= Weird or awesome? Awesome! As well as weird! The two traits seem to go hand in hand most of the time. When my sister and I talk about anything related to anime or manga he asks us what we're talking about. We tell him. Next time we're talking about it he asks the same question... 29) Have you ever watched the Naruto Abridged series? Yep, I think it's hilarious! 30) Have you seen the Naruto Ultimate fan flashes? I have now. 31) Have you ever got someone else hooked on Naruto? My sister, Sharp. 32) Have you ever been drawing Naruto in school and someone recognized it? Nope. I go to a...unique school. I don't think anyone knows what anime is. 33) Have you ever been in class drawing Naruto and your teacher came up to you and say 'WTF?' Nope, they've resigned themselves to the fact that I'm insane(even by their standards) and don't even ask. Plus, I've done much stranger things. 34) Has Naruto affected your life and grades?
