About this Author : UPDATE as of 9/17/09

Holy supercalifragilisticexpialidocious batman! She's updated her profile again.

About time I touched this up a bit. I've got a flashy new card to add to my wallet (it still has that new card smell) that certifies me as a private helicopter pilot. Its in the shape of a driver's license sans the photo ID and they spelled my name wrong. It must be the a's me thinks. Three a's always throws them off...they have to insert an o in there. Never mind that Kaasan rhymes with Jason or mason, it's still spelled 'Kaasan', not 'Kaason'.

It was spelled right on the forms damn it! What more does a person have to do?!

I've discovered in the past year that long distance relationships and pouring copious amounts of money (and time) into learning to fly helicopters does not, a timely writer, make. It's been interesting to say the least. I'm just glad the helicopter thing is done with, for the moment. Until I have money again and decide that it's time to go for a commercial license...maybe next year!

So I'm a person of many interests, which is why it's sometimes hard to find time to write. I've got lots of things I like to do and they're all vying for my attention. For instance, my favorite - procrastination! Well, that's not really an interest. We've got a love/hate relationship going on.

If you want go get specific in the Kaasan Interest Department, I guess I'd start with the obvious one, which is writing. Then there's drawing/art, jogging, American football (watching and playing, NFL style), sports in general (I'm an ultra competitive person), video games, reading, multiple instruments that I rarely play anymore because I'm a slacker, horses that I occasionally ride, the outdoors, fishing/hunting (interest as in, I'd like to have food in the freezer this year, so I better go get some), aaand...what else...oh yeah, traveling. I love traveling, experiencing different cultures, visiting monuments of ancient history - love history.

And Dragons are the closest thing I have to a religion. That's right. Worship the winged lizard and he won't burn your hair. I'm not much of a worshiping person actually, they're just very important to me, a talisman I keep with me at all times. They only burn the hair off of anonymous flaming wankers who attack my profile because they don't like its politics. Bbplttt :P

Um... I don't write smut. I mean, I could try, but I'm 99 percent sure that I'd fail so badly people would be laughing themselves off their seats. Maybe if I wore a paper bag over my head, but even then it would be a tough task to, ahem, tackle. Oh there they go again! Sewing the wild oats - everyone steer clear, nothing to see here! ;)

I'll read it on occasion if it's relevant to a story. It shouldn't be the plot though - that's what we call a Romance Novel. Oh snap, did I just say that? :P I kid, I kid, but anyway. Smut away peeps, but you're not likely to see it in my writing. Not likely.

I may have just cracked the door open...about a centimeter...not sure you'll get anything with a crack that small, but it is there so you never know. ;)

Story Statuses:

Doot, doot, doot...

Black Feathers - Total freaking disaster. I'm not continuing it because I honestly hate it with a passion. Although...I've had a recent influx of reviews for it, and flames, so maybe I'll dish out another chapter just for the hell of it.

Spear of Ares - Honestly, I love to read Vincent/Tifa fics, but I can't seem to write one to save my life. This one is quite bad, I admit. I'm not sure why it's still up even. I guess my heart just isn't in it. Which kind of begs to question just why I'm so adamant about writing the much stranger pairing, Tifa/Sephiroth. Ah, who knows. They just hit the right chords I guess.

A Side Story - Read previous paragraph...I really need to do more planning before I start posting things like this.

The same goes for...

Nurturing the Buds of Love - which was basically pointless, but okay. I had an idea for it at one point, but that whole thing just totally derailed on me when A Side Story lost it's interest (they were interconnected).

Still active:

Fall into Ecstasy - YES! I'm finally about to finish another fic. It's about time...I'm very proud of this one. I suppose you could say that I like to take on the challenging ones, or ideas rather. A lot of people don't take well to the pairing of Penelo and Basch, but because I like them I set out to change minds. Grant it, this was my first shot at it and while it has ultimately been successful, I have an even better idea for another fic brewing... a little darker and more realistic.

Mass Effect - Whew, my maiden voyage into territory beyond Final Fantasy. At the beginning I was really hyped about it because I liked how the writing turned out, but it's a slow board and I'm feeling my enthusiasm falter. I think it's my best work, but I'm no judge of myself.

The Warrior - I know, I know, I have no shame. Beginning another story when I have two that are already mid-way through (or more), but...I had to! I just...I couldn't let my favorite couple go...

FYI: I enjoy writing fanfiction - it doesn't earn me money, obviously. A fanfiction writer's only compensation are the sentiments of the readers sent in by review. I get tired of hearing what I should and should not be doing as a writer, as if asking for reviews is an egotistical thing - it's not. I enjoy writing for the sake of writing, but because I am who I am, my goal is to reach other people with my writing and make them believe through words in the story that I'm trying to tell. So when I don't get feedback, I feel like I'm not doing a very good job, and if I'm not doing a very good job, maybe I need to give up on writing - something that I can tell you I never want to have to do, but not hearing from the readers can be demoralizing.

This is not a complaint, by the way. I'm generalizing for all writers out there who appreciate it when people take the time to write a few words of either encouragement, constructive criticism, or a simple 'I enjoy this'. It's not that hard and it is helpful to us - I'm not sure why it has to be a point of contention, but people will be people. Writing is time consuming and writing fanfiction is time spent that will earn us nothing in return but personal accomplishment.

The writer is the one doing all the work for the reader's benefit after all.

To everyone who has ever reviewed my work: Encouragement is a wonderful thing to receive and a tremendous motivator. I can't thank you all enough for the time you take to share your thoughts with me. I may not always update the swiftest, but it's your encouragement that keeps me coming back when life tries to drag me away. My stories are never far from my mind and are often a point of guilt when I haven't updated in a long time - it bothers me a lot, but I find that I can't avoid it. Things just happen. So thank you for sticking with me and reading my stories. I try to provide the best and most meaningful entertainment I can, which is why sometimes it does take me longer than I'd like. I want it to be the best that it can be.

Take care everyone, and happy reading and writing.

Kaasan (Faerlyte)
