Author has written 1 story for Fushigi Yuugi.

It's been a while. Again. So I'll do the preliminary introduction for those of you who weren't lurking around the FY archives nearly seven years ago. My penname is Lanen, obviously, after a character I made and then Mary-Sue'd to death back in middle school. My real name is Katie and I just graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. When I'm not in western PA, I live in NJ, the most awesome state in the union.

I am never, ever, ever satisfied with what I write the next day; hence the lack of sufficient ficcage up here. My attention, though, has shifted from the realms of anime over to the realms of JKR, Tamora Pierce, Jane Austen and whatever other authors I find over at B&N.

Before school started, I worked in a craft store. I knit, crochet, sculpt, paint, draw, make soap, scrapbook, make jewelery, make candy, and everything else a crafty person is supposed to do. I'll definitely be back there this summer. Therefore, it is also logical that as a crafting diva, I listen to chill music like OAR and DMB, as well as some pretty out-there stuff and not to mention classic rock.

At this point in time, I am currently revising the small amount of fics that I do have posted with the exception of Things to Do At WalMart. I wrote that when I was... 13 (eek, 8 years ago...) and so I would like to keep it as is as a tribute to myself (isn't that sick?). They'll probably be reposted by the end of the semester. (I hope)

I am also, well, not a grammer nazi, but one who prefers reading something... readable. I hate plowing through a single paragraph of the following "Harry Poter was a boy who lived in a house on privet deribve and gothis parents killed when this dudevoldermort went 4 his parents cuz they were lite and he was like nto." It makes my eyes bleed. I've devised a couple of rules for myself as to what exactly is of decent reading caliber:

1.) The author spends enough time on the fic to bother writing a grammatically pleasing summary (that is not written entirely in CAPS).

2.) The author isn't so full of themselves as to try to trick the readers into reading their stories by not stating who or what the fic is about.

3.) The author does not state his or her stance on sexual preference in the summary. (i.e. OMFG i hate slash its so disgusting and no one should ever ever read) (This is especially true if said ranting continues past the point of the end of the summary.)

4.) The entire plot (including the ending) is outlined in the entire summary.

5.) The main characters' names are misspelled in the first paragraph or summary.

6.) There is only one paragraph to a chapter and the chapter is a good twenty pages long.

7.) Any mention of a Mary-Sue that possesses more powers than Harry or is some super goddess or miko or is Alanna's long lost sister and a half or whatever.

8.) Anyone who plugs their own fics in everyone else's business.

9.) Complete stories that are not one-shots that end under 30 paragraphs including all of Harry's seventh year, his fight with Voldemort, and his grandchildren. Just no.

10.) Anyone who has obviously stolen their plot from someone else. (moreso when they don't even bother coming up with their own spell/people/location names.)

I have a joint fic with my friend Nicole under the penname Nicatie. I also have an account at fictionpress.net under this same penname-- I haven't touched it since my freshman year. I think it's still there. Come visit me at DeviantArt.com, as well. I tend to check my devArt account daily, so odds are, if you don't see me around, check over there-- especially since I do work much more often on art. Also, I'm on Last.FM. That, or go facebook me. I love strangers...

Thanks for your time!

1. Things to do at WalMart reviews
[be warned I actually wrote this when I was 13... ouch] What happens when a 13yearold psychotic girl reads a chain letter about WalMart and decides to torture the FY gang? Well you’re bound to find out now, aren’tcha? Welcome to my demented mind!
