Author has written 37 stories for Sherlock Holmes, StarTrek: The Original Series, Pirates of the Caribbean, Sherlock, Hercule Poirot series, Big Bang Theory, Avengers, and Singin' in the Rain. Hello, Probably time to update this a little. I have written bits and pieces of verse for years; but only plucked up the nerve to get involved on this site a couple of years ago. I write and read for fun, and to unwind. I am generally more comfortable writing poetry, having only ever written and posted one piece of prose. I did have a few ST:TOS poems printed in zines in the 1990s, some of which are posted here, along with new pieces . I am particularly fond of poetry which has a strong unforced rhythm and rhyme, and I get a great deal of satisfaction from finding just the right words or phrases. I also admire some free verse styles of poetry but have never attempted to write any. I am always on the look out for well-written verse, and have found some gems amongst the different fandoms. I am aware that fan fic poetry does not have a wonderful reputation in general, and appears to be avoided by many; but it can be very versatile and an effective medium for storytelling; sometimes highlighting things in ways which prose can't. One of my collections of verse; Moor Verse, includes, in the last few chapters, work by other SH authors who have very generously contributed with a wide variety of excellent poems related to "The Hound of the Baskervilles." Worth having a look at their poetry (and at their other stories) even if the phrase "fan fiction poetry" normally causes you to hesitate:) | |||||
