Author has written 19 stories for Dragon Age.

I'm a former English/Sociology major who started college with a passion for writing that was drained from me over four years and then took almost a decade to resurface. I've always been the sort to daydream fiction that might consume me for weeks but not amount to anything more than thought. However, when I started playing Dragon Age, I was inspired by the rich characters around mine and that compelled me to jot down roleplay notes and scenes that I imagined happening between the in-game action. One day a slip at the Landsmeet sent me down a road that I could not leave and then that merged with another path to lead me to Undertow.

(And I fully acknowledge that I was crazy to make a post-Blight fic with an unknown Warden and featuring a broken version of a beloved character my grand entrance into fanfic writing.)

My favorite aspects of Dragon Age (non snarky blond category) are the relationships. Not just the romances, but friends and enemies and families, and how complex characters can interact in complex manners in a video game. I try to balance the drama inherent in a world like this, where our characters are caught up in unimaginable intrigue and danger, with my love of writing people just being people.

If I had to name an influence, I'd have to say that Undertow owes much of its structure and style to Lost. I fell in love with the way the show used flashbacks and subtle stylistic shifts to develop characters and pretty much stole it (and stripped out most of the subtlety).

When I'm not playing Dragon Age, or writing about Dragon Age (or posting pictures of naked barbarians on the BSN site), I work in higher education, doing graphic design and other fun stuff for an office focused on women's advocacy. I have cats, a puppy and a boyfriend. They're pretty cool, I guess, but none of them earn enough for me to quit my job so that I can Dragon Age full time.

To wrap this up, I must end with a ringing endorsement from Sandtigress, a fellow author (read her!) and my co-conspirator in strange story ideas and witty conversations:

"SurelyForth, she writes things that are awesome and awkward. And even the awkward is awesome...or is that the other way around?"

Art Stuff!

Hawke and Anders avatar by Aimo.

YamiSnuffles is not only cool, she's also a peddler of all things adorable and cracktastic. She did sketches of all the main characters of my fic, and they look wonderful! Wil, Anders, Bethany, Fenris, Isabela, Aveline, Varric and Sebastian.
"The Look", a gorgeous painting done as a gift to me by lillian-hime. It's beautiful!
"Maps & Legends", a sketch of Wil and Anders done by Emmav who is immensely talented and so incredibly nice!
The totally awesome MelRedux is responsible for this fantastic drawing of Brand, appropriately entitled "Awkward.
Brand Cousland by the incredible Galagraphia. Gala had already won my undying love and gratitude for being fantastic, but she'd also done this portrait of Anders and Bryce for me, so...pretty much my favorite person ever. Now she's done this beautiful painting of Wil and Anders.
I commissioned this piece from Payroo, who (I think!) is pretty much unmatched in her use of color.

Story Stuff!

Maps and Legends: A Dragon Age 2 playthrough fic (original, I know). Right now I'm in love with it, so it will be updated pretty regularly.
Undertow: Ongoing. I will finish it if it kills me. Dragon Age 2 basically destroyed my ending, but I'm trying to figure out something that works.
Designs on You: Probably dead. I doubt I'll write anymore Awakening-era Anders.
