Big Adjustments

I hate the title on this one. I'll try to come up with something better later.

Anyways, this is probably my new highest priority fanfic. It's a High School AU (sort of, you'll see what I mean if you read it) starring all of the Disney characters. The main character of the story will be Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet with Peter Pan (Peter Pan), Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame), Megara (Hercules), and Merlin (The Sword in the Stone) as main supporting characters. Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty) plays the role of the main villain and has put some kind of mysterious curse on the school that somehow involves the stories from which all of the people in the Walt Disney Institute originated.

Why is Jim Hawins the main character?

Jim is one of my favorite Disney characters and he really is the type of interesting character that could carry a story like this. Also, I wanted to expand upon his character as well as have someone not canonically coupled with anyone.

Will you be doing a Treasure Planet story?

In a way, yes, but technically, no. I think of the entire fic as being an adaptation of Treasure Planet as they both involve Jim getting in trouble and going off to some strange place in an attempt to make ammends, all the while meeting new friends, making new enemies, and growing as a person. However, Treasure Planet will not be getting its own "story" because it would involve taking the story away from the Walt Disney Institute far too much.

Why are Aladdin and Hercules being stretched out instead of each getting their own story like the rest of the Disney movies?

Both stories are probably going to have the biggest impact on the story as a whole, plus they'll take the longest to flesh out. With Hercules, it details Megara's change of character as well as the scheme of Hades, one of the main villains. I needed both to be maor plot points in the fic with a large ammount of focus. With Aladdin, neither of the two main protaganists of the movie are major characters, but Jafar is a major villain. His scheme also has to be made especially big for the sake of the main plot.

In response to the above, why isn't that the same for HoND or Sleeping Beauty?

With Hunchback, it needed to be the first storyline. The fic needed to start off with a bang. It established Esmeralda nicely and gave Quasimodo a decent introduction and allowed Frollo to play a role. It's also just one of those stories that just has to keep moving on once it gets started while Aladdin and Hercules can be more flexed out at certain points. Plus, while Esmeralda's a main character, I don't see her as being quite as major as Jim, Peter, and Meg are. With Sleeping Beauty, I really don't have any grand plans for any of the characters, except for Maleficent and she's much too important in the main plot to be distracted by Aurora or the Good Fairies in this story. I'll confirm that Sleeping Beauty will happen, but it'll differ the most from the source material.

What's with all of the gay stuff?

I like Disney slash. I enjoy reading it, watching it, and making it. Disney is also so bogged down with so many het couples that it really needed some gay to balance it out. Plus, I happen to really like Jim/Peter. And don't worry, it won't get graphic or ever become the main focus of the fic. I have a storyline and that's the main focus. Also, yes I will have a lesbian pair or two in there and no it's not Meg/Esmeralda (although I do ship that).

Why is Maleficent's big end-all curse putting all of the characters in a high school?

Obviously more information will come in that regards, however, Maleficent wanted a world where all characters would be nerfed and stuck as her suboordinates. She's the Deputy Headmistress and the only one above her is Merlin so she does, in esscence, have control of all of the heroes (and villains too) who are either teachers (that are working as her suboordinates) or students (who she's the one in charge of). Clearly Maleficent intended for herself to be the Headmaster so that she would have complete control but something went wrong (and yes, it will be revealed). There is more to the curse but you'll have to wait and see for more information.

Kingdom Hearts: Defending the Light

Kingdom Hearts: Defending the Light is my addition to the Kingdom Hearts series. It's essentially my version of Kingdom Hearts 3. Now this series doesn't take into account Coded or any games released after that (i.e. Dream Drop Distance, Birth by Sleep Final Mix). Here, I will post information on this ongoing story.

Infernal Retribution

This is a crossover between Sleeping Beauty and Hercules with various other Disney characters thrown into the mix. I hope you'll check it out.

The story begins the very day (night?) that Maleficent is killed and, as such, this entire story takes place during Medeviel Times (1325 is the date that I set for the story). Therefore, the only Disney characters that will appear are characters whose stories take place in Medeviel Times (specifically Medeviel Europe). King Steffen's Kingdom I have set as being a Welsh kingdom because Wales is the most mountainous part of the Isles of Britain (the Forbidden Mountains) and I'm fairly certain that Steffan is a Welsh name. Greece at this point is the Byzantine Empire (it has not been completely conquered by the Ottoman Turks yet) and therefore is a Christian state. However, I am writing under the assumption that despite the change in religions, that the Greek gods and goddesses still exist despite them no longer being worshipped.

Atlantica, Ursula's Lair, and all other Little Mermaid locations in the ocean I am considering to be in the North Sea slightly closer to Denmark than Britain or Norway. In that same vain, Prince Eric's kingdom and the island in which Ursula meets Hades and Maleficent I am considering to be a part of Denmark since Hans Christian Anderson, the author of the Little Mermaid, was Danish and because it gives me a chance to explore other regions of Europe other than the Isles of Britain and Greece.

Pinocchio I have determined to be set in Italy because, well... all the names are Italian so there's no real question there. As for the time period, while Pinocchio actually was more likely set during the 1800's due to the clothing the characters wear, I'm saying that it took place in the 1300's because A.) It serves the story well (and it's not a big portion of the story so I think it's overlookable) and B.) Stromboli references Constantinople (the capital of the Byzantine Empire) in the movie rather than Istanbul (it's name after the Islamic conquest of Greece (as well as the current name)).

The Black Cauldron is obviously set in medeviel times but is probably set a bit earlier than the 14th century. Regardless, the Horned King is brought back to life so this story takes place after The Black Cauldron. How long after the Black Cauldron? I can't be too sure but I'd wager around 200 years, which is how I'll be writing for the characters. The Black Cauldron is set in Wales because, well, it's a story about Welsh mythological figures. Not to mention, this really helps to tie in the story's characters to the main story (since I've set Sleeping Beauty in Wales).

Snow White I have set as taking place in Hungary in my story because Snow White is a german fairytale and neither Germany nor Austria were nations at the time so I figured that Hungary was the next best thing to choose. Also, the Evil Queen that I'm using is largely the version that appears in Fairest of All (which is a book telling the Queen's side of Disney's version of Snow White and, since it was published by Disney press, it is canon to the movie). She is still the movie character but her life events and explanations are taken from Fairest of All. Also, I now really want to write a fic about Maleficent and the Queen's history together just from writing their brief moment of interaction (I have a plot thought out in my head but I'd need to edit heavily to keep them in character and explain it better).

In the Hercules TV series, the writers were constantly struggling to find a place where they could have fit Persephone into the story. They had two plots in mind: one where Persephone would have been the daughter of Hades and Demeter, who would have been divorced and in a custody battle over her (the Persephone story would have been the same other than Hades being her father) while the other would have had her as one of Hercules's teachers at Prometheus Academy. Personally, I would have really liked to have seen the Hades/Demeter Custody battle one. I think it would have fit perfectly in with the tone of the show as well as adding more depth to Hades so I'm writing Infernal Retribution under the assumption that the Hades/Demeter plot is canon.

Gargoyles is NOT in the same universe as my fic. No, I don't have anything against Gargoyles. Gargoyles is an epic series with an incredibly detailed universe and that's exactly the problem. I don't want to be tied to the Gargoyles explainations of the magical occurences, I want to be able to build this combined universe myself for the most part. There will be several mythological figures that were featured in Gargoyles that will appear but they will not be the Gargoyles versions of the characters.

Also, several other Disney figures will appear. When they are introduced, I'll include a geographic explaination of where and why these characters exist in Medeviel times.

Kingdom Hearts: Maleficent's Story

The other day, I was thinking about how much of a dip in quality Maleficent took from Kingdom Hearts to Kingdom Hearts II. And it also got me thinking about how, even though she she was only a world villain, Maleficent had much better treatment in Birth by Sleep. And it really got me to thinking. Nomura said that Kingdom Hearts had four untold stories (Roxas's Time with the Organization, What Mickey was doing during the first game, What happened to Riku in between KH2 and CoM, and Xehanort's past). Obviously, at this point, three of those have been told (in Days and BBS) and only Mickey's story remains. However, there is another untold tale: what Maleficent was up to inbetween BBS and KH. I mean, we know a few important events, sure, but we don't really know what happened. So this fanfic explains just that. Important information will be posted here.
