Author has written 44 stories for Magnificent Seven, Dirty Dancing, Walker, Texas Ranger, Misc. Movies, Boomtown, Law and Order: CI, Law and Order: SVU, Last of the Mohicans, and Primeval. piaffe: (pee-ahf) Verb. The best Grand Prix horses do not advance forward even a single inch. Thus, it is such grace and balance that I seek when I write. Hi there! My name is piaffe417 and I'm a TV-aholic. I was hooked on it as a child and only in my teenage years began to realize that this had the makings of a very serious addiction. It's my hope that by coming here and passing on the stories that clog up my already overworked brain, I can somewhat quell that addiction and become a contributing member of society. Or something. My tastes are fairly eclectic so you'll find a mix here, but the stories mostly feature the characters from "Law and Order: Criminal Intent," my drug of choice. Favorite things in fanfiction: Good imagery, thoughtful storylines, wicked satire, characters who act like themselves, and REVIEWS. Least favorite things in fanfiction: Mary Sues, stories with no plot, ridiculous scenarios, characters who act like 5 year olds, and positive reviews for any of the aforementioned items. (And by the way, people - song lyrics are not a substitute for an actual story, so if you're going to write a song fic, please make sure that you have a plot, otherwise, you're transcribing what we hear on the radio.) Most commonly asked question from readers: How do you write the relationship between Bobby Goren and Alex Eames so thoroughly? How is it that you seem to understand these two? The short answer is: In the world that makes up my daily life, I am Alex Eames and I have a coworker/mentor/friend who is Bobby Goren. You know, absolutely brilliant to the point of being occasionally cryptic and usually embarrassing when you take him in public. (Only mine isn't that tall, there's no family history of schizophrenia, we're not cops, and he's married (to a woman who's a saint) with 2 kids - but trust me, he's just like him other than that.) Some days we're best friends, some days we're a sitcom, other days we're fighting like the Hatfields and the McCoys, and the rest of the time we just are. Like Alex (as I write her anyway), I often wonder how this relationship took its place in my life and use fiction as a means to explore answers to that question. And no, I'm not harboring secret romantic feelings for this guy; in fact, I think that's one of the main reasons that I can't see Bobby and Alex as a couple in the majority of my stories. There's an understanding and a closeness there that isn't necessarily romantic; it's more symbiotic than that. So there you have it. (And no, I don't recommend taking on the care and feeding of a Bobby Goren in order to add reality to your writing. It really cuts into your work day.) Update (1/8/2008) - Halfway through a master's degree and working full time while doing an internship (also full time - or at least it seems that way!) and trying to get my Dutch gelding to the FEI level (we're working on 4th level right now), I'm not writing all that often anymore, but I'm still reading (and reviewing when compelled) whenever I get a free second.
