| Idoloni |
Author has written 15 stories for Legend of Zelda, Doctor Who, Portal, and Rise of the Guardians. April 28th 2013 - I'm currently moving house and this is my last chance at using the Internet for the next week as the new house doesn't have wi-fi. I am pretty goddamn annoyed to put it lightly, and I'm not sure if I'll survive. I'll either return with an armload of fanfiction or not at all, methinks. Wish me luck! About Me Mmkay. Well, I'm known around the Internet by various names, the most oft-used being Idoloni, Pumah, The Shadow and Sto Helit. There are stories behind all of those, but they're actually quite boring. And if you know where the last one comes from, I will give you a tray of virtual cookies. I've lived in France for eight and a half years, so if you'd like any help in that area, just ask. Since mid-September 2012, I've been living in England and very much enjoying it. I speak English and French fluently (or at least as fluently as possible) and I do German at school, but I'm a B student at best :/ Back in France, I did three years of Latin, but mostly the teacher was rubbish and we didn't learn anything. I enjoy reading, writing and drawing and I love to expand my vocabulary. Wherever I go, I'll be sure to take a book: to school, to the doctor's, on holiday - everywhere! My favourite authors would have to be Terry Pratchett, Jasper Fforde, Douglas Adams, Jonathan Stroud, Garth Nix and Eoin Colfer, although there are many, many other books that I love too. I get random flashes of inspiration in the middle of the night, ones that seem to 3AM!Me like the BEST IDEA EVER, so I have to go and write them down before I forget. It's where most of my fanfics actually come from. I love drawing, too, and I've gotten fairly good at it. You can find me over on deviantArt as theshadow79, although I don't often post illustrations. I also like to sing and I'm told that I have a decent voice, but I don't believe that. My favourite bands are Coldplay, Snow Patrol and Three Days Grace, which is quite a mixed bag, is it not? I also adore Two Steps From Hell, the Zelda and Doctor Who soundtracks and a plethora of individual songs from various artists that if I listed would take up sixty pages on LibreOffice. I like to play video games in my spare time, when I'm not reading/writing/drawing/singing/whatever, and my favourites are Endless Ocean 2: Blue World, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and Ocarina of Time 3D, Sims 3 Pets (3DS), Pokemon Sapphire, SoulSilver and White. Oh, and Scribblenauts is brilliant if you're bored and just want to be silly and solve puzzles at the same time. I watch TV just like everyone else, but there are certain shows that I really love and will actually go downstairs to watch, such as Doctor Who, Sherlock, Grimm, Touch, Awake, Miranda, Elementary, QI, Have I Got News For You and Would I Lie To You? I also like documentaries, especially those by David Attenborough, Brian Cox and Horizon. I am a huge fan of unhappy endings and dark-themed stories and I always have been; I used to get my parents to invent alternate endings to various fairytales just because I was sick of the dashing prince saving the beautiful princess and such. I just like morbid stories; thus, a fair amount of my writing will not have a happy ending. Another thing you'll rarely ever find in any of my stories is romance. Any I do put in will be purely for the sake of the plot - or possibly to make sad endings sadder. Y'know, because I'm horrible, horrible person. xxx Fanfiction My A/Ns will all be posted over on my fanfiction-only tumblr here, alongside progress reports, previews and the occasional illustration. IP = in progress ; C = completed ; U = updates ; H = hiatus ; IH = indefinite hiatus/not-quite-abandonment A Wolf's Life - [IP] - [IH] - [LoZ] - [Codename: AWL] - A series of drabblish things set in Twilight Princess in a world where Link was actually a wolf in the first place. Several people have told me that it's rather like snapshots of a multichaptered fic and that I should link them all together in one, but I'm sad to say that this will, very likely, never happen; I'm too irresponsible for my own good and I'd likely forget about it or get stuck somewhere and end up deleting it. So, for now at least, AWL will remain in its current state of snapshot-y-ness. Last Man Standing - [C] - [DW] - My one and only Doctor Who story, more of a drabble than anything. I wrote it because while I do love a Dark!Doctor, I felt that there were enough oneshots of that ilk and just wanted to do something sad where the Doctor is old and tired. Aside - [C] - [LoZ] - My longest and most popular oneshot to date; Aside details what happens to Link when he comes home after his journey and how while heroes often grow to be awe-inspiring and good at what they do, they've had to change so much in order to survive, adapting to circumstances, that they're just not the same person they were when they started. The Open Sky - [C] - [LoZ] - This is the oneshot I'm most proud of - possibly even the fic I'm most proud of. It turned out exactly the way I wanted it to, with that sense of unconscious longing, the ache to fly again that will never be fulfilled. Strangely, though, this one has the least amount of views of anything I've posted so far, which is a shame because it's my personal favourite. Affably Evil - [C] - LoZ] - My poor lonely humour oneshot, when I attempted to break my track record of sadfics. According to my reviewers, it is wonderful and I'm like Monty Python. Whether or not you agree only you can find out. Personally, I quite like it; the idea really tickled me at the time - on an 8-hour drive to England from southwest France, if you must know - and I suppose the imagery still does now. As a humourfic, I could have done worse, although judging by the fav-count, it's my least-liked fic. Guess I shouldn't try being funny again then. Perdition - [C] - [Portal] - What could well have happened after Chell left Aperture for the surface world; can't say GLaDOS didn't warn her. Apparently, the stylistic choices I made here, trying to evoke the sense of seeing the same place at different points in time, didn't come across too well. Can't all be winners, I guess. I am also working on several oneshots and multi-chaptered fics that probably won't be published for a while. Working titles and vague summaries that don't actually tell you anything can be found here on my Tumblr. | |||||||||
