Don't flame me, place constructive criticism!

General Info:

Well, I'll start out with the fact that English is the second language I've learned (the first is a secret) and the third one that I'm currently learning is Japanese. My stories are far from perfect, but I do try and make an effort in improving my writing style. Hence, I take constructive criticism very seriously. Reviews also help motivate me write, although I don't expect much since I'm nowhere near as good as some writers (like the author's of some of my favorite stories).

My Japanese is self taught, as such, my knowledge regarding the language is all over the place. I can read and write to a certain extent, but my kanji knowledge is rather limited - so I can't do full translations without furigana.

Also, don't expect large chapter lengths from me or short update times. I write mainly as a hobby so it's only during times of large free times or overwhelming inspiration that I can either write long chapters or increase my update frequency.

Dislikes in General:

Yaoi/Yuri: One of the few things that can make me run away from any work in general is if the pairings is guy to guy or girl to girl. Honestly, the mere thought of it makes me want to dish out and apply a healthy dose of brain bleach. Though I mean no offense to those who actually like it, but please state in the summary if it's yaoi/yuri. Don't even try to make me read one. You can never make me like it.

Bad Grammar: I certainly understand that not all writers are English proficient. But as many people would be repelled by bad grammar, it'd be best if those writers would take into account the reviews that places good constructive criticism. Get a beta if you seriously can't do any better. It would be a much enjoyable experience for all of us.

Marvel/DC: Don't ask me why. But I have an irrational dislike of anything Marvel or DC.

Comments within the course of the story: Unless you're breaking the fourth wall, keep author comments at the bottom or top of a story. If the reader so wishes it, they will read the comments. But please don't place it within the story. It ruins the flow and makes me think that I'm on a conversation rather than reading a story. If it can't be avoided, then just annotate it or do it rarely.

Japanese within the text: If you're writing a story in English, keep everything in English. Those who know the universe that you are writing would obviously know what the supposed language of the character is. So don't place whole Japanese sentences/phrases into a story (just notify the audience what language is being spoken within the story if there's a sudden change). Honorifics can be placed since they generally have no English equivalent, names of festivals or customs are also allowed but anything else would really ruin the story.

Flamers: Flaming a story wouldn't be a good show of how smart a person really is. In fact it would only serve to make people think that said flamer isn't mature at all. If you dislike something, please state it intellectually. By saying a person sucks, you obviously have an idea on what could possibly be better. So instead of insulting them, state why it sucks and how they can improve. No one would be inclined to improve from hurtful words.
