About me - Life's been moving so fast lately that I've barely had any time to catch up! I recently left one of my jobs so I have more time but writing has still been difficult for a few reasons. I have so many ideas for stories and so many fandoms I'd like to get back into, I've actually started at least half a dozen projects that have all been more or less placed on hold while I juggle them around everyday trying to figure out which one I'd actually like to spend a good chunk of my time on. At the same time, my personal life has been quite nice, going out with friends here and there since I finally have some free time, going to see my mom more often. I'll be moving in with a friend later this year to save money so I just have to work it out the next few months before that happens. Things just seem to pick up and run away on me...
Well, I don't want anyone to think I've given up on FFN. I just get distracted very easily by things now. Cooking, video games, friends, shiny objects... For those of you who are still interested in The Strangest Kind of Love, please know that I still plan on continuing it and that I refuse to throw in the towel. For some reason, that project is in a hard place right now, I admit it, but I have put in some work toward the next chapter. Unfortunately, I can also honestly say that it's still taking a backseat to some of the other ideas floating around my head at the moment, including my Misty-centered fic True Blue Story, which is (spoiler) a retelling of the anime from her PoV, had she not traveled with Ash. What kind of trainer would she be? How strong? What differences would her team have? How would she compete against those who would take advantage of her weaknesses? That kind of thing. I've finished three chapters (though I haven't posted any because I want to write on it more before I start uploading) and am feeling confident about working on the fourth. Maybe once I've reached ten finished chapters, I'll finally start posting it. The date may possibly be moved up if some of you are interested enough in it.
One last thing I can't help but post - I've been really into the television shows Psych and Leverage over the past couple years. They're two shows I can never seem to lose interest in and two that have kept my mind and heart occupied and full. Alas, Leverage recently ended on its fifth season (however, the finale was everything I expected it to be and could never be replaced or done better, in my opinion). As Psych continues on and I rewatch episode after episode, season after season, I find a thrilling jolt in the love confession the main character Shawn makes to his lady counterpart, Jules/Juliet, halfway through the fifth season... It suited his character so well, I felt I just had to post it here.
Shawn: "Can I just say what I came here to say, please?" (brief pause before continuing) "... I have a motorcycle."
Jules: (looking disappointed) "Yes... you do..."
Shawn: "Yes I do, and you know what? It is... it is the purest form of freedom that I have ever experienced. You zip through traffic, you park anywhere, you never have to take anyone to the airport, you certainly don't have to help anyone move. Easily the best purchase I've ever made in my life and I have never regretted it, not for one second!"
Jules: (skeptical and resigned) "Great! You love your motorcycle... Is there a point to this?"
Shawn: "Yeah, there's a point... The point is, since I met you..." (long pause) "I... I've been thinking about getting a car."
I just felt like it needed sharing. It was so in-character and sweet, powerful for the kind of commit-a-phobe Shawn's character seemed to be during the first five seasons, no matter how many times he went back to Jules. Just fantastic and I wanted to share that moment with everyone because I'm a nerd and I can't help myself when it comes to these things! I hope some of you read this and remember that moment, for those of you who are fans, and I can't help but hope that others still go look the series up if you've never seen it or given it a chance because it's small things like this that make anything worth sticking around for. At least, in my book.
