Author has written 42 stories for Invader Zim, Harry Potter, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean, Across the Universe, and Batman Begins/Dark Knight. It occurred to me, after nearly three years, that it might be a good idea to update my profile. Huh. Anyway, I would say that I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet, but we all know by now that that just isn't my style. So...let's just jump right into things and hope that I don't make this too ridiculously drawn-out. Or, if I do, that I at least make it entertaining. :-) So, I'm a twenty-year-old soon-to-be junior in college, and, lemme tell ya, college is so much better than high school it isn't even funny, even though it actually kinda is. Anyway, I plan on majoring in English with a minor in Women's Studies, which should say a lot about me right there. However, I'm not one of those stereotypical, man-hating feminists (I actually tend to get along better with guys than girls), although I am a notorious grammar nazi as well as a word whore, as is evident by my meticulous and eloquent writing style that probably won't be present in this profile, although it, thankfully, isn't lacking in my stories. Speaking of which, let's discuss those, now. My fandoms tend to come and go, and, although my love for them never dwindles, my interest usually does after a year or so. I first became a fanfiction writer when I fell in love with the awesome-and-a-half cartoon show Invader Zim. Oh, for the record, whatever you do, don't read any of my IZ stuff. It's just...horrible. And embarrassing. And misleading. And the main reason I haven't deleted any of it from this site is because it serves as a reminder of how much I have grown and (hopefully) improved as a writer. Once Upon a Time in Mexico was the next fandom that I wrote for. Agent Sands is just...wow...what all can I say about that gorgeous, witty, sociopathic little asshole? He was just too much fun to write, which is probably why every story I wrote for OUaTiM wound up being incredibly long. Looking back, I'm not terribly disgusted by what I wrote for that fandom, but I will say that my characterization and over-all writing has definitely improved since then. After that, I tried writing something for the Phantom of the Opera, which is a story that I have had an infatuation with since I was, like, eleven years old. Honestly, despite my utter revulsion toward it, I think it was the 2004 movie-musical that inspired me to write something for this fandom. I've always loved the musical, but the book by Gaston Leroux will always been my favorite (I'm an elitist prick like that, what can I say?). I think I originally began A Footstool because I was so tired of the onslaught of bad, movie-based fanfiction that had suddenly overtaken the fandom and I wanted something different. However, as fanfiction is usually what keeps me motivated and interested in a fandom, there just wasn't enough good writing to go around and I quickly lost interest. However, reading so much bad stuff really made me take a look at my own writing and actually sit back and contemplate the plot, characters, actions, dialogue, and symbolism that I put into it. So, even though, in all likelihood, A Footstool will never be finished, I still feel that I have grown and improved through developing it. Then, there was Pirates of the Caribbean. Actually, like Phantom, I'd been a fan since the first movie came out in 2003. However, as much as I loved Captain Jack and wanted to write something for the fandom, I just couldn't come up with anything good. Then Dead Man's Chest came out and I fell head-over-heels in love with Commodore Norrington, and, from there, Jack Davenport in general. That man (Jack or James, take your pick) is just too adorable for words and his charming self-deprecation makes you want to hug him. Needless to say, I immediately started writing a fanfic about James that took place during his time on Tortuga, not only because I adored him and felt that his character was extremely overlooked, but also because, despite the fact that it seems like every fangirl wants to pair their favorite character with the perfect woman who is actually a flawless and beautiful reincarnation of themselves, James really does need to find himself a girl, mates. And so, I set about doing this. Honestly, at the risk of sounding arrogant, I'm quite proud of the Ring O'Bells and especially Jou-Jou the strumpet. To tell the truth, I was perfectly happy to write the Ring O'Bells and leave it at that, however, it seems that my readers wanted a sequel, and since I did have other ideas, I started to write the Little Flow'rs. However, the reaction to it was...disappointing, to say the least. In fact, it was practically nonexistant, and as the Norrington fandom began to decrease, so did my interest. And let's not even mention At World's End, which only depresses me and not just because they killed my favorite character, but also because it's just saddens me to think that that's how Disney is going to let Pirates of the Caribbean, a series that started off so well and with such promise, is going to end that way. In all honesty, I feel incredibly guilty about my lack of enthusiasm (not to mention my lack of updates) and wish that I could get back into it. I really do, but I just don't know if I can, although I am trying. However, to all of you James/Jou-Jou shippers: If worst comes to worst and the Little Flow'rs is never finished, please be comforted in the knowledge that I had always intended to have those two end up together and, as cliche as it sounds, live happily ever after with James as the captain of the Flying Dutchman rather than Will (because that just makes so much more sense, damnit!). If you want more details, I'd be more than happy to give them, I'm totally cool with an e-mail (DunnWitch32@MSN.com) or a review requesting them. Please, feel free to ask--don't hesitate! Now, it would seem that I'm on an Across the Universe kick. What can I say? I've been a fan of the Beatles since I was a little kid, and that movie is simply beyond precious. This fandom is so relaxing, I think, in that I'm just writing a bunch of fun one-shots for it and am not really working on anything big. Oh, and the slash is fun, too. Gotta love the slash. Even though the canon pairing of Jude/Lucy makes me feel slightly guilty for writing Max/Jude, which is probably why I write Max/OFC along with slash. The boy-love is undeniable, but then, so is the het. But, hey, it's a good compromise. That said, eh...I might post some awesomely memorable/insanely random quotes later, but the list that I had was quite ridiculous. I mean, 179? That's a little extreme, even for me. So, until then, I will wish you well and leave you with these final words: It's okay to verbally abuse someone as long as you are accurate in your facts, it's not paranoia if you know they're out to get you, be wary of cinnamon, and, of course, keep breathing. Peace and love, -E. S. Y. Monday/June 2, 2008/5:01pm | |||||||||||
