Author has written 4 stories for Death Note.

I've been told that I need to write a proper profile.

Hello. I'm a British Northerner that migrated, and this is important because it accounts for my rather bitter, terrible sense of humour and love of slang, and when you're a Northerner, it's just important if you're not in the North anymore. Apparently, I was vaguely related to Neil Armstrong, which is also important as some of my genes have been on the moon. My family is very proud of this (although I can't emphasise the 'vaguely' enough) and it'll probably end up on my CV. I don't eat much but drink a lot of coffee and tea. Writing is something I do when I have time/can't sleep/am ill, to try and use a part of my brain which doesn't get used otherwise. I lived in the US for a while as a kid and some American English words have killed off the mother tongue, so if they break up the Britspeak, that's why. Like, 'elevator' is far better than 'lift'. Sorry, Blighty.

The only two things I'm reasonably good at is drawing, imparting useless film trivia, memorising song lyrics, playing the piano and driving (but not all at the same time, and I reversed a car into a skip once, so figure that one out). My car featured in a wordbombs fic and that's my claim to fame.

I have no aspirations in writing, which is probably just as well. In terms of Death Note, I'm intensely frustrated that Light and L weren't at it like rabbits in the manga, so have to put it right for the good of my own sanity. Other 'fandoms' *shudder* haven't really grabbed me as much to actually feel that I need to expand on what's there already. I'm generally very accepting of where writers take things but, urgh, Ohba, you should have brought some dark, twisty woahmance in that series. Really. You were so close.

This is such a bad, bad profile. I don't really want to talk about my job and stuff like that, but I'm scraping the barrel of boring, so why not? I'll just say that I work in the fashion/art industry and it's neither glamorous or exciting, but I like it. I draw and paint stuff in a lonely and lovely studio for a living, studied Fashion Design, and now I'm doing English Literature part-time. I work in a bookshop on Saturdays because I have done for years and it's quite likely that if I stopped then I'd never leave the house at all and never brush my hair. It's all very nice. Erm... I'm a non-preachy vegetarian, which is annoying because I don't really like vegetables and I'm sick of having to order stuffed mushrooms at restaurants. My first and last name begin with 'L', and some friends who don't know Death Note took it upon themselves to call me 'L' for short. I don't encourage it, honest to God, but it's so funny and I'm used to it now. Writing a profile is hard work. Basically I'm a lazy bitch with a cup of tea who plays the piano at parties when drunk.

Stories:

Those Who Stand For Nothing Fall For Anything

Japanese Psycho in Westminster. Light and the rest of the cast of Death Note are in politics. It's AU. I don't care. I've based the government system on UK politics (only exaggerated a LOT *fingers crossed*) because it amuses me and I know a bit more about it than I do about Japanese politics, even though it is set there. I was writing it as an original story but I just thought: 'No one will read this bloody thing. Why am I writing it?' and I also thought that Light would be the best/worst politician, so I rewrote and DN'd it. There's a lot of swearing and badly composed sex and there's no excuse for either of those things. I should be able to do better by now. The title is taken from an Alexander Hamilton quote and the story image is from http://www.animepaper.net/art/179112/repent!, the best wallpaper the world has ever seen. Cynicism lives in this story but I try to dilute it with more of the funny/angst/melodrama.

And, ARGH! It also has a TVTropes page now! (Thanks to whoever put it up there. It gives me so much joy and hurrahs) - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Fanfic/ThoseWhoStandForNothingFallForAnything

Cue keyboard smash because other people made some and they're waaaay better than mine.

thebarstool made some stupendously wonderful character playlists (in the context of this story) which are so spot on, it's frightening.

Light - You were my violence, stuck

L - Opaque but all-seeing

B - The one who gazes without flinching holds the reins; remains unloved

howdoyoukira made another brilliant mix for Light - Shine/Numb

remembermeshell made one for L! - The Empty Shell

A Cure for Love (complete)

The story is a bit funny, quite angsty, and extremely melodramatic. The aim was for it to be mostly funny but the angst slowly crept in and snowballed. That must happen for people who are just starting to write and I'd never written anything before apart from essays. It's just a big fluffy cliché. I started writing it when I was on rocket-fuel painkillers, so that's my excuse. One day I'll go back and rewrite it, but at the moment it's very much shit until quite a few chapters in when I had managed to get some slight grip on writing. Thanks to everyone who has read it or bits of it so far and even greater thanks to my reviewers. P.S. I shamelessly replaced the fic summary with one which someone else wrote on the TVTropes page. I'm rubbish at summaries.

Some lovely people wrote a TV Tropes page about A Cure for Love here - http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/FanFic/ACureForLove which is the whole thing in a nutshell.

Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved me

A present for Wordbombs and an alternative plotline to 'Cure' just for shits and giggles. More of the above.

The Killing Jar

A ghost story which I might finish one of these Halloweens but I would say that it was pretty dead at the moment.

I posted some fanmixes for my romps through Death Note.

The mixtapes for A Cure for Love are on http://8tracks.com/halfpromise/collections/cure so you can listen to the ficmix for free, should you wish to, without signing up.

Those Who Stand For Nothing Fall For Anything mixtapes (with fancy-ish covers because I was bored and like photos of men in suits) are: http://8tracks.com/halfpromise/collections/those
