Author has written 5 stories for Harry Potter. --0-- "All of those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain." - The Blade Runner --0-- Hullo, I believe you have stumbled upon my profile. A Bit About Me~ I live in the US where it's cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Fall is my favourite season, and I could live in a place where it is cold all of the time, but not in a place with blistering heat year round. I plan on living somewhere with canopies of tall trees later on in my life. I take my tea with a spoon of sugar and a spoon of honey and my coffee with one cream and two sugars, though I do enjoy the taste of it black every so often. I am not by any means a morning person. I am a redhead with wavy hair down to my waist and completely proud of it. I'm a bit of a punk--skinny jeans is all I wear and I am smitten with my black high top converse. That said, I own two pairs of Uggs (which I wear solely for comfort), so I can't really call myself completely partial to any particular style. I DO own a leather jacket that I wear constantly: it's black. I cannot stand change, and if I had to give myself a vice, that would be it. I don't really like people. I am rather cynical, but I laugh most everything off. I am a bit of everything, I suppose. Coffee and Tea are the nectars of life; Chocolate is the only reason for living; Writing knows no limits; Music is the key to the soul; Laughter is what keeps me going. My life in a nutshell is a teenage wasteland. They're all wasted! (no, I'm not wasted. not at the moment. I just happened to be listening to Baba O'Riley by The Who while writing this.) Spearmint gum; rainy days; night; solitude; laughing; music; pineapple; coconut shampoo; taco bell; late nights; caffine; twizzlers; fuzzy socks; sea shells; mint chocolate; writing; candles. That warm feeling you can't quite place. Escaping from reality. I can't wait for the day when I can truthfully say my reality is better than the escape. .INSPIRATION. --0-- "Living is easy with eyes closed." - Strawberry Fields Forever, The Beatles --0-- Books~ As I am not subject to change, I usually read the same novels over and over again. By the end of my life, I will have memorized most of the words to my favourite books. Harry Potter by JKR (god, I love that woman) The Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce (and pretty much everything else she has written) The Phantom Toll Booth by Norton Juster (TIMELESS!) Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare (I hate the characters, but I enjoy the dialogue) Nightlight by The Harvard Lampoon (yeah--I'm not a Twilight fan or whatever the hell it is they call it. Twi-hard?) --0-- "Alas, that love, so gentle in his view, should be so tyrannous and rough in proof!" - Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare --0-- Music~ Bands: The Killers (all time favorite modern band) blink- 182 (sometimes you've just got to not care and listen to blink- 182) Death Cab For Cutie (most of their songs) The Wallflowers (One Headlight is pure love) Queen (ALL!) The Beatles (ALL!) U2 (mmm...) R.E.M. (all around) STYX (they're amazing. period.) Songs: One Headlight by the Wallflowers (covered this above...) Adam's Song by blink- 182 (fucking love this) 1985 by Bowling for Soup (I completely rock out to this) Marching Bands of Manhattan by Death Cab For Cutie (this song got me into the band) Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams (I hate this song because I love it so much) Pinch Me by the Barenaked Ladies (the story of my life...) It's the End of the World As We Know It by R.E.M. (always puts a smile on my face) Kiss of Life by Friendly Fires (reminds me a bit of The Killers--the single weirdest song on my iPod minus Pink Floyd) You're Gonna Go Far, Kid by The Offspring (this is my angry song) I Miss You by blink- 182 (...the webs from all the spiders, catching things and eating their insides...) Forever by Chris Brown (I don't like this kind of music at all--the ONE exception is this song though, because it was on an episode of The Office) American Pie by Don McClean (so deep...) ALL BY THE KILLERS (they are too amazing to pick just one, and it entirely depends on my mood. I usually put all of their albums on shuffle.) Possibly more... --0-- "A thousand butterflies...from your lips to mine." - Kiss of Life, Friendly Fires --0-- TV Shows~ I honestly don't watch a lot of TV--I don't really like it. I don't even have cable, though I do have Netflix. That said, I love The Office, and will watch endless reruns of it anytime of the day. The same goes for Seinfeld, and also my guilty pleasure, Married...With Children. Don't ask. Really. I am not embarrassed to admit that I rather take pleasure in watching kid shows like The Rugrats or Veggie Tales. Mostly older stuff though, the times when writers were allowed to infuse witty material that children don't understand, but that is incredibly humourous to anyone over the age of thirteen. I have a little sister that feeds this obsession conveniently, and needless to say, the moment she grows out of watching The Little Mermaid is the day I will be beside myself with grief. --0-- "Now we're being followed by rocks. Never heard that before." - Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of The Caribbean: At World's End --0-- Movies~ Pirates of the Caribbean (I know all of the words to all three of them by heart. it's rather sad.) Disney Movies (TIMELESS!) Near Dark (they're REAL vampires) Donnie Darko (unexplainable...) Vampires Suck (yeah, this goes without saying. CRACK!) The Hangover (partially because Andy from The Office is a lead role) ALL of the Harry Potter films, though POA is my favourite. --0-- "Life is so hard, Tommy. Sometimes I think it's the hardest thing there is." - Chucky Finster, The Rugrats --0-- Harry Potter Ships: Lily/James (a given) Sirius/OC (if the OC is done well and has a spunky personality, and if the writing is good, this pairing is lovely. I enjoy Sirius's complicated relationships with the opposite sex.) Remus/Tonks (clearly, they are meant to be. I don't really understand their relationship very well, so it's interesting to see how other people perceive it.) Harry/Ginny (I don't read much if it, but I enjoy it in the books) Hermione/Ron (god, I love them!) HP Ships That Need to be Sunk: Hermione/Draco (really? I never saw the appeal in this one at all.) Sirius/Hermione (excuse me, but what the hell are people thinking?) Harry/Draco (no. just...no.) Remus/Sirius (I will actually read this one occasionally—but only because a couple of authors that I favour have this as their main ship. it all depends on the writing.) Snape/Hermione (again—WHAT?) Any other character that couldn't possibly be with any other character, such as Remus/Peeves (although I'd once again have to say that the writing really makes or breaks the story—an author that I favor has a lovely Remus/Peeves fic that they wrote for a challenge that I found quite enjoyable. not in that "they are a good couple" sort of way, but a "wow, that's an interesting perspective" sort of way.) Although I don't support these ships, I will read on occasion if the writing is amazing. I am not really a fan of slash, because as you can see, I mostly stick to cannon. I do, however, fully support gay rights, but that topic is for another day. --0-- "The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense." Tom Clancy --0-- "The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good." --Stephen King is my idol.-- Really, unquestionably, the fact is non-negotiable. Twilight just can't compare to Harry Potter. I feel a bit disgusted putting them in the same sentence together, actually. Not that I have anything against Stephanie Meyer--I don't. She just can't write. I have read all of the books: I know what I'm talking about. Twilight is about the importance of having a boyfriend. Harry Potter has too many moral lessons to count. Bella Swan is such a Mary-Sue, it's sickening. Her only vice is not being able to live without Edward for more than five seconds. Really now, what kind of lesson does that teach young girls? Harry Potter is an original character with (gasp!) FLAWS. He has great friends, but he doesn't depend on them for more than he should. He actually depends on them much less than he should, but again, that is one of his many FLAWS. Jacob Black:Sirius Black? Really now? REALLY? He's like a lovechild between Remus and Sirius! (and no, I do not ship) Edward Cullen is a hand-me-down; he will first and foremost always be Cedric Diggory. I could go on and on forever (and trust me when I say it would be quite a rant), but I feel that anyone who takes the time to actually analyze the two novels will find that one is vastly superior to the other. I'm not going to say which, because hopefully you have gotten the gist of it by now. I found this on a random site and it made me smile: "Harry Potter is a well-written, complex plotted and character developing series of books while Twilight is a poorly-written, loosely plotted and 2D character filled series of books. Stephenie Meyer needs to back away from the thesaurus, overusing big words and placing them out of context does not make you seem smart, even if they are advanced vocabulary." I also found this, which made my smile even wider: "Damn Straight. Harry Potter is better. Enough said." Indeed. --0-- "I wanna jump out of my skin and watch the clouds..." - Move Away, The Killers --0-- Stories~ My only big writing project right now is One Headlight. I don't have any other ideas brewing at the moment, though inspiration strikes at the oddest times, so who knows? One Headlight: --Status: The fifth chapter is up! I have quite a bit written ahead, so the next chapter will be posted as soon as I string everything together. --Summary: Lily Evans is a Prefect taking and taking difficult courses. She has just struck a balance in her life when something unexpected happens. How will she handle it on top of everything else? Marlene McKinnon can't say she's anything special. Everyone around her knows it, but she remains unconvinced. That is, until someone begins to prove it to her. Mary Macdonald is perfectly content with her life. She knows her place in the world, and lives up to her potential. She's never done anything she's regretted, but she's never done anything worth talking about, either. Until one day she finally summons the courage... Dorcas Meadowes is perfect from the outside: Good grades, flawless skin, pretty features. She has a secret, though, and it began over the summer. Charlotte Hartry has habits. Ruts, she falls into. Smoking is one of those habits, and it got her into a situation she wouldn't have been in at all if she hadn't of picked it back up three months before hand. James Potter has finally decided to deflate his head. He does this for one Lily Evans, but what happens when other people start noticing it too? Sirius Black is desolate. He can't get through the day without taste of alcohol on his tongue and n nicotine in his system, and no one seems to notice. Remus Lupin can't decide what he wants. Love, he thinks, should be much simpiler than it is. Peter Pettigrew was having a normal year until one night, everything changes. He hopes for the better. Begins at the start of sixth year and headed to who knows where. --Warnings: Drinking, smoking, a fair amount of cussing, and possible sex scenes. Nothing too graphic though, I assure you. Also a bit of alcohol abuse, though again, nothing drastic. --Rating: "T" for now, but maybe "M" later on. It's doubtful, but who knows. My mind has a mind of its own! --Genre: Drama; General; Romance; Humour; Suspense; Tragedy; Family; Hurt/Comfort A bit of everything! --Focus: Lily Evans; Marlene McKinnon; Mary Macdonald; Dorcas Meadowes; Charlotte Hartry; James Potter; Sirius Black; Remus Lupin; Peter Pettigrew My focus will mainly be on Lily and James and their relationship, but Lily's dorm mates as well as the Marauders will be heavily included in the plot as well. --0-- "On an evening such as this (yo!), it's hard to tell if I exist." - Pinch Me, The Barenaked Ladies --0-- If you are up for a good read, please check out my stories or favourites. If you find a good fic and you for some unknown, impulsive reason need to spread the word, I would enjoy hearing about it. PM me. Additionally, if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions at all, don't hesitate to PM me. I don't bite. ~AscendFlySoar~ | |||||||
