A brief on me
I've been a fan of L.J. Smith since high school (and have been reading LJS fanfic for about as long). Other significant literary interests are Janny Wurts, mistress of lyric prose, political intrigue and breath-taking fantasy; Lois McMaster Bujold, mistress of characterisation, megalomania, endearing humour and fabulous space opera. Honorable mentions to David Weber & Raymond Feist, Lords of Space and Fantasy, respectively. Elfquest was my first comic-variety passion. The defunct Cross-Gen's myriad stories is also very intriguing (and it rather spoils me with all the beautiful coloration). I recently read Bone, after much persuasion and recommendation from various parties, and am rather glad I did.
Non-literary interests include music (everything except heavy metal and acid jazz, I always say. Maybe country/western too), horses and cats, languages (primarily French, although the list of languages I'd like to learn doesn't end there), mildly technological gadgets (like my iPAQ), photography (boyfriend's influence) and manga/anime (Ayashi no Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi, Read or Die (recommended!), Inuyasha, Full Metal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Bleach, Saiunkoku Monogatari (Tales from the Country of Colorful Clouds), Juuni Kokki (The Twelve Kingdoms) and Ouran High School Host Club. ).
Current writing
A New Leaf - Complete!
My first LJS fanfic and without a doubt the longest thing I have ever written. This writing project took me approximately three years to complete.
Our story begins shortly after the end of the fourth volume, tracking Elena and Stefan's lives as they venture out of Fell's Church. Rumours are stirring of a threat that will wipe out all vampires and Elena is drawn into a web of cross purposes, uneasy alliances and hidden agendas.

Peeping Tom - Complete!
Another LJS 'fic. Exploring Damon's arrival at Fell's Church and his first encounter with Elena, from his point of view. I hope you like it. It's written from Damon's POV, which, IMHO, is never a good idea. It's so easy to not-do his character justice.
Interlude - Complete!
A rather unimaginative title for a one-shot that'd been niggling at me to write it. I had initially planned it as a comic strip (I don't draw, but Quietharm does, and beautifully!) and had even thought through the layout of panels and so on. Turning the idea into prose, in my opinion, robbed it of some of it's effectiveness, but it insisted on being set down and shared, so there you go.
Interlude is an alternative view to the end of the second graphic novel, The Forbidden Grove. It comprises the thoughts of Skywise, Leetah and Cutter.
His Legacy - Complete!
A drabble originally written for Week 41 of the IY Fic Contest. The theme for that week was ‘Memory’. After it was done, I realized that the piece not quite fit the theme and so I rewrote it. The second version won third place in the contest. The entry can be found here.
Painful Goodbyes - Complete!
Written for IY Fic Contest Week 42, to the theme 'goodbyes'. One of two entries.
Sesshoumaru says goodbye to his father.
Owakare - Complete!
Written for IY Fic Contest Week 42, to the theme 'goodbyes'. This ficlet placed second.
Touga bids Izayoi farewell.

Juxtaposition- Complete!
Written for IY Fic Contest Week 46, to the theme '10 years in the future'. This ficlet placed third.
Rin comes to realize that having one's freedom does not preclude happiness.
Three Polite Lies - Complete!
Written for IY Fic Contest Week 47, to the theme 'little white lies'. This is my first fic that placed first.
Sometimes, history repeats itself once too often. And that last time might just be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
On His Birthday - Complete!
Written for IY Fic Contest Week 51, to the theme 'anniversary'. This is my second fic to place first.
It was a yearly ritual for Inuyasha and his mother.
Tsuki no Aika - Work in progress
This is the story of Inuyasha's parents; of how the daiyoukai of the West fell in love with a human hime from the East.

Hatsukoi - Work in progress
Call it contrariness, call it a sense of balance, call it a strong sense of committment to my spoken word; Clover aka Tabi challenged me to write an Inupapa/Sessmom fic to see if I could, being an Inupapa/Izayoi fan. This is the result.
Seven parts, one posted each week. This was written in secret, with feedback and constructive criticism from my friends that have brought the story from a rough draft of my idea to the polished final product that you see here!
In the works, on my mind
Aside from Hatsukoi and Tsuki, I have my NaNovel 2005 to finish, a original fic. Romance which is a genre I don't usually write in and of itself.
After these three work me over, I'll have to see what else strikes my fancy by then.
I'd actually like to do a Vorkosigan fic (not counting that short, sorrowful piece I wrote on a whim), but it'll only happen if/when a good plot/scenario occurs to me. I originally intended to do another Elfquest fic with a certain mix of characters but I'll have to sit down and study the canon timeline and then figure out what the story should be about so... that's lower priority.
I have a number of original story plotbunnies penned up where they can't hurt anyone -- much. I'm not sure if I'll be posting it online for public viewing or not.
Thanks for stopping by!
