Author has written 2 stories for Resident Evil. ANOTHER ORDER FANFICTION COMPETITION 2009 If you're a fan of Leon/Ada; if you've written fanfiction before, or never before; if you want a chance to participate in a writing challenge and maybe win some bragging rights for it, submit an entry to the Leon/Ada forum fanfiction competition! The contest lasts from July 1st until August 1st - all entries are due by the final deadline at the beginning of August. You have exactly a month to write a fanfic based on the given writing prompts, which will then be judged by the moderators of Another Order. Interested in giving it a try? All details are outlined on a thread of the forum. Best of luck! UPDATE: We are extending the deadline on submissions until further notice. We will update soon when the three judges have a conclusive decision on a final due date. Until then, keep working on stories if you're still interested! Despite the pen name, most people simply know me as Squall—yes, after Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. I’ve had the nickname since sixth grade and I’m not about to change it. :3 Though Donatien, Valiarde, or DV work just as well. I consider myself to be a bit of a veteran of this site: as you can see, I’ve been around here a while. However, in that span of time, I have written very little. I hope to change that presently (read: eventually). Squall: Is a student at a tiny university that you have most likely never heard of; she is now officially double-majoring in Politics and German with a minor in Philosophy, and also speaks a little Arabic. Will be spending four months in Berlin, Germany as a student of Humboldt Universität zu Berlin starting in September. Enjoys engaging in political and philosophical discussions even when she has no position on a subject, international politics, studying German and Arabic, debating (i.e. Model UN, NATO, and Arab League), video games, playing Team Fortress 2 like an addict, her favorite pairings, reading and hoarding books, writing, fine foods, and traveling. Literary Influences (These are some of my favorite writers and philosophers, who will likely have some significant bearing on my writing). Dante Alighieri Aristotle Albert Camus F. Scott Fitzgerald William Gibson H. P. Lovecraft Plato Edgar Allan Poe Philip Pullman On Fandoms, Pairings, and Writing Not surprisingly, I’m a fan of Final Fantasy VIII. I like the character of my namesake to be paired with Rinoa and only Rinoa, as is meant positively and irrefutably in the game. Consequently, I won’t read blasphemous fanfics in which Squall or Rinoa are paired up with anyone besides each other. Regrettably, I’m not particularly active in the Final Fantasy VIII fanfiction community, but someday—I swear—I’m going to start writing stories for the fandom again because I love it dearly. My dearest love and the funnel through which most of my time is siphoned is the Resident Evil fandom—specifically, the pairing of Leon and Ada. Because this pairing has so little support, I have become devoted and passionate in my support behind it. Leon and Ada simply do not get old, and most of my fanfics, if I ever get around to actually writing any, will be about these two. I co-moderate a forum dedicated to Leon and Ada, which I do hope LeonAda fans will take the time to post upon or subscribe to. :3 The fans that post on the forum are a friendly bunch, and we never seem to run out of things to talk about. We are also more than happy to welcome newcomers, as we are also desperately seeking new fans and new fanfics to read. Whether you’re a seasoned fan or have the slightest inclination or curiosity about Leon and Ada, I strongly encourage you to check the place out. As for other writing, I may eventually be impressed upon to write fanfiction for other fandoms if the inspiration so strikes me (and if I have time enough from school work to do so). I also dabble in original fiction every now and then when my muse is around. I will not be posting my original fiction anywhere online, but I will say that I especially enjoy writing the genres of cyberpunk, steampunk, biopunk, and whatever broad genre that may effectively combine politics, technology, and philosophy. Current Projects, Future Plans, and General Updates As of 8/04/09: Posted a new fanfic the other day for the first time in ages. I wanted to give a note on the title (although I might eventually edit the document to include this explanation). Much of the story alludes to a persona that Ada has constructed. In Jungian psychology, a persona is the outward appearance of your personality that you project for others to see. Jung contrasts this with anima, a person's true, inner self. Hope that somewhat explains the title. I would like to thank everyone that has reviewed the story so far for their kind words. It's very encouraging, after three and a half years of not posting anything, to have positive feedback, and I want you all to know that I appreciate it immensely. So thanks. (: | |||||||||||||
