Author has written 15 stories for Emergency. By profession, I am a band instructor for a public school system in the great state of Texas. I am well educated, and consider myself to be fairly well read. My upbringing was at the very least colorful. My twin sister and I grew up as wards of the state, and I can bear living breathing testament to the joys of foster care, and institutional living. Many times people who learn small portions of my story have suggested I write a book. Though I usually tend to offer a humorous response to such ideas, I have truly considered the notion. While I ponder putting together a book, being a musician and accustomed to practice, I chose to give fan fiction a whirl. My hope is to play with the art of assembling stories, and reap the added benefit of getting feedback from others who will likely generally be disinterested strangers. You may notice my profile photo is one taken in a Los Angeles County Rescue Squad. This is one of my favorite photos from the, as my friends like to call it, “Emergency Tour.” I took in the summer of 2010. For those interested, it was an idea I had and brought to fruition. To my knowledge, there are no companies that’ll actually provide such an eccentric tour. If you want to make the E! pilgrimage, start with the L.A. County Fire Department community relations folks. Their number is on the L.A. County Fire Department web site. The people of the LACoFD were absolutely marvelous in putting me in touch with the right individuals. The rescue squad and engines from Emergency are housed in the L.A. County Fire Museum in Bellflower California. It’s a trip worth making, and I promise you the wonderful folks of the department are every bit as friendly and helpful as they were portrayed on Emergency! I found their willingness to tour and attend some strange lady off the street to be absolutely amazing because I had somehow always imagined the attitudes expressed in Emergency were likely only made for television. I am a big time Emergency fan. Johnny and Roy were my childhood heroes. Discussing my Emergency fascination with learned professionals as an adult I discover this was likely because they were portrayed as rescuers to the weak and downtrodden. Could be as a child I probably would have benefited from rescuing. I always enjoyed how Emergency seemed to attempt to teach something, or champion some worthy cause. You may note many of my fan fiction pieces attempt to emulate the series by offering some small bit of knowledge, or exploring an issue I feel relevant. Please enjoy my work, and offer feedback when you can. As with everything; bits of me likely will end up sprinkled throughout my stories. If you like slightly quirky, verbose, sometimes sarcastic and witty material, you’ll find it in anything to which I have put my hand. My thought processes cause me to draw mental pictures for anything I read. You may notice this reflected in my written words because I tend to be fairly descriptive. I feel if I’ve done it correctly, you’ll be able to draw a mental picture of a scene in your own mind. If my work is thorough enough your mental picture will come with smells, sounds, sensation and even emotion. Let me know how I’m doing! | |||||||
