There's also M-rated ZelGan stuff, if you're into that. 5/28/09 Status Update A lot has happened in the past few months. I’ve been right in the middle of the economic crisis as I work on Wall Street for a large company. That is why I haven’t been posting all that much. However, I have recently been hired for a new position and things will be much easier for me. Still - I am discontinuing several stories as I’ve had sustained writer’s block or I can’t seem to maintain interest. They will remain up in case I decide one day to finish, but please don’t hold out and wait, as it is more likely this will never happen. I apologize to any readers who are disappointed by this outcome. In addition, I will not be taking on any more beta reading for a while. I keep getting requests from people who give me fandoms I’m not familiar with. I can’t possibly give a good assessment on fan fiction I know nothing about. That’s one of the problems with fan fiction. DISCONTINUED A White Wolf in Hyrule - I started writing this because of the overwhelming fan response to its prequel, A Hylian in Nippon. It’s very hard for me to write Ammy and Midna, so this story started puttering out as soon as it began. Also, I got a lot of “use weapon x” styled comments, which I can’t work with. I write fan fiction as a story, not a game play-by-play. Yes, Those Are my Real Ears - If I add another chapter it’ll be the last one, basically to send them home. I’ve used all comic material available. Return of Idiots from the Fifth Dimension - Matt Groening once said that the last few seasons of “The Simpsons” have been difficult because “there’s only so much you can make a supremely stupid person Homer do.” The Twilight Three’s initial reactions to the Stupid Ones and their world worked well, but I could only carry it for so long. The Subway Connection - This shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone; I haven’t updated in over a year. Basically the Major wakes up, the Kuze Virus is eradicated, and everyone goes home. Not sure why it’s been impossible to write. Recurring Themes: Kuze as cult leader (Ghost in the Shell) Kuze takes on many identities in the second season of GitS, but the one I believe fits him best is that of cult leader. He's kind of made out to be a flawed revolutionary, but remember, his purpose and motives are much more vague than his actions. It is my opinion that Kuze used the people skills he gained on his travels to manipulate people who felt trapped in their cybernetic bodies. I cheered when he was finally killed, and felt no pity for him at all. The Gerudo Genocide (Zelda) In OoT, we are introduced to the Gerudo, a race of people whom Ganondorf rules. Though WW and TP are supposed to follow OoT, and contain references to the Gerudo, they are missing. In TP, the Arbiter's Grounds contains leftover artifacts from the Spirit Temple, which belonged to the Gerudoes. It's not much of a stretch to assume that they were killed in retaliation for Ganondorf's deeds. Why they did this when the Gerudo Nabooru was a Sage, I can't explain. The Endless Cycle (Zelda) Usually referred to as the Bloodline Theory or the Reincarnation Theory, stating that Link/Zelda/Ganondorf are reincarnations or otherwise connected through the ages. In the Endless Cycle, after each death, they return to the underworld (the Twilight Realm) until they are born again. Fourth Season is Not Canon (Carmen) It contradicts everything that came before it, and contains an episode so awful FOX would not air it. Enough said. Pairings You're probably not going to see much deliberate pairing from me. I focus on plots, not pairings. But people ask, so here's where I stand, in the Zelda fandom anyway: Pairings I like: LinkxZelda, GanondorfxZelda, MidnaxLink, NabooruxGanondorf, LinkxTetra, LinkxFemale Sheik (Sheik is Zelda, deal with it) Pairings I don't like: LinkxGanondorf (no way to write this without making one or both grossly OOC), LinkxDark (unless it's supposed to be some existential thing about being seduced by one's dark side or something...but I haven't seen that yet), LinkxMalon (I think this would be terribly one-sided), LinkxIlia (same thing, unless this is pre-TP), LinebeckxLink (don't even get me started on all the child exploitation crap out there) Parings I am indifferent to: Shad/Zelda, LinkxMale Sheik/Ike/Marth/Pit (don't see him as into guys, but at least these aren't trying to kill him), Ashei/Link | |||||||||
