I was originally under my penname Gabbi (past aliases include Yami Gabbi, Gabbi, Gabbi, Queen of Kurama Torture, Gabbi the Brave XD, and Gabbi and Demon Dog). I used to write mainly anime fanfiction, but I have spawned to RENT, one of my latest obsessions. I'm fifteen and I live in a little nowhere town in New Jersey. I'm a punk rock enthusiast and I have gotten labeled as "creepy Goth girl" in my school. I love to write, read, draw, sing, chill in my marching band, and all that good stuff. I enjoy several animes, although I have gotten very picky the past few years, Lord of the Rings, RENT, the in need of fiction Angel/Collins pairing, music in general, AFI, crossdressers, being the bisexual monster I have become, David Bowie, glam rock, and making fun of Roger from RENT. I write whatever I want to, really. I like using non-canon (Hiei/Kurama, Mark/Angel...) and canon alike (Angel/Collins). I love taking on tough subjects (AIDS, sex change, death) and trying to shape it into my own creation. I also have a very sarcastic tongue-in-cheek style that I am very aware of. I started at the tender age of twelve, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom. How old are you now? I'm fifteen and still at it... why? I sometimes see a fanfiction writer called "Gabbi" on the site and there are the same fics mentioned/used. Is that you? It's very much me. Gabbi was my alias in the anime/yaoi days. Donner is my alias on RPS, RENT, ect. Where did you learn how to write? I never took any kind of real lessons or anything in writing. I never follow what my teachers tell me. Everything I do comes naturally and from reading. Reading saves. I'm just lucky to be able to put thoughts on paper... Where do your ideas come from? I'm always in a writer's block. I get writer's block, too, so I go to my old writing books and freshen up old ideas. My ideas come from media, like lyrics to songs, movies, novels, or other fanfiction, and even conversations with friends and my relationships with people. Fiction like Dancing With Myself, In Truths that She Learned, and Summer in the City all come from listening to music and taking in the words. Who's your writing influence? I am influenced by other fanfiction writers (Like Alice, my Mark/Angel mother), David Lethivan, who wrote Boy Meets Boy, which opened my mind a bit about using drag queens and other rather... flamboyant characters in a non-stereotypical role. Anime Fiction Where did you start in writing? I started in the anime fiction, in Yu-Gi-Oh! and then went into Yu Yu Hakusho. Do you write yaoi/shounen-ai? Yes. I am an avid supporter of many shounen-ai and yaoi couples... and some yuri/shoujo-ai couples. Why do you kill off Kurama? I'll be the first one to tell you I kill him... and I kill him way too damn much. It was a teen angst sort of thing that came from watching Yu Yu Hakusho and realizing he got killed off a lot. Why do you support Hiei/Kurama? It's a couple that I just saw in. I believe that they are extremely great friends no matter what way you look at them, and even though I imply that they are romantically, you can't deny they are "friendly." Why isn't Numb: I Can't Feel You There and Magic of the Heart updated? Let me be frank: I REFUSE TO UPDATE THESE FICS DUE TO THE TIME LAPSE AND TOTAL CHANGE IN THE STYLE OF MY WRITING. I have no interest to continue these fics and no, I repeat NO review can stop me from swearing off these fics. For the most part, I will not be updating in these fandoms because of the corruption of these fandoms and just no inspiration for them. RENT Why don't you support Mark/Roger? snerks I just don't feel inspiration from it. It's not that I don't know where they're coming from. I totally see where they're steming the couple from. Two man, a loft, and a kickass duet. I just don't have the heart to dabble in this couple, although some of my lovely friends support them. You're very Angel-centric. Why? Angel is the reason why I got into RENT. She's beautiful, tragic, powerful, but not overbearing. She has characteristics of a drag queen, but also characteristics of an everyday person. She gets very little reconition amongst all the Marks, Rogers, and Mimis and she needs credit. She can be a very nice tool to use in fiction. Why do you support Mark/Angel? Mark/Angel was a couple that came natural for me because I've been in a similar situation, pining over someone who simply wasn't mine. I am more toward the Mark one-sided, but I love to think that they could have made it, be it that Collins was out of the picture. I am going to stand by "What You Own" implied that Mark was extremely close to Angel and very much attracted to her. You refer to Angel as "she." What is your reason? I've always referred to Angel as a she because I would like to think she wanted to be called that. She's a crossdresser and crossdressers usually enjoy being called the sex they're trying to be (Collins continously calls Angel feminine pronouns). People tend to blur actors and characters in this fandom a lot and people get wrapped up with their love for Wilson, Jai, Justin, or whatever, and forget that Angel is very much trying to be feminine. But you are entitled to either. Some of my favorite writers use he and I'm cool with it. I tend to use he when she died because when your dead, I believe that your masks are all down and you are stripped down to your soul and Angel no longer had to hide behind the masks. Why do you always portray Roger and Angel as having a poor relationship? Why is Roger always abused in your fics? I'm not going to lie. I really don't like Roger's character. He had me wanting to scream the whole time. I admitedly live vicariously through Angel in my work (because she is simply fabulous!) and I, through Angel, beat up Roger the way I want it done. But Roger is growing on me a little, which is why in recent fics, like Rock n' Roll Life and later chapters of Pos/Neg, we see that Roger isn't always the evil one... more misunderstood.
