A ten page excerpt is now available, tacked on as the final chapter to The Sweet Hereafter. The release date is sticking to June 13, as much as I hate to keep you all waiting. I do have my reasoning behind this. First of all, this date is very close to the end of the school year for what I imagine will be this story's core audience, so it gives you something to look forward to and may help to ease the pain of those infernal final exams. More importantly, I'm trying to make sure I have the right impact and reception. The story is scheduled to release safely in between two of the biggest fandom events of the summer, the upcoming "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith" and much anticipated "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince." In all honesty, I expect fanfic reading/writing to drop off in the month or so the follows the release of the latter, so I'm hoping that giving people a vested interest beforehand will make them want to keep reading in spite of this year's offering of literary crack from J.K. Rowling.

For those of you not in the know or just to lazy to read through the primary trailer, "Instant Gratification" is, in a nutshell, the story of a forced, legally binding (and against Arnold's will) marriage between Arnold and Helga that will last for 90 days. It's a rather complicated work that I expect will take some time to tell, but what else is new? The main thing I want to point out is that this is not "The Sweet Hereafter: Ten Years Later." While TSH was designed from start to finish to be a complex character study of Helga, "Instant Gratification" is a more encompassing story. Helga will feature into the story prominently, but you'll see me do a lot more with Arnold than I have in the past. Of considerable note is the decisive factor that Rhonda Lloyd will play in the story, filling a role many will not likely expect. Without a doubt, Rhonda is integral to this one, and you'll see me do things with her character one doesn't see done very often (that I'm aware of, anywho).
