Author has written 20 stories for Harry Potter, and Naruto. Unregistered beta reader. All I have now are memories, all I hold now are wistful thoughts, and all I am now is an observer. I don't do disclaimers - waste of time - but wanted to do this backward version: I [insert name] refuse to keep reading something I don't like, or write something that no longer holds anybody's interest (mine or yours). I don't own anything I write about on fanfiction, but I do own the right to do and say whatever I want when it comes to my fics, and whether or not I'll keep reading yours. I have my likes and dislikes, pairing-wise or not, and won't say "sorry" for suddenly dropping alerts/favs due to in-story decisions made by other authors. I'm not telling anyone what to write, just that I won't read something with a pairing or story (cliche or not) that annoys or disgusts me. I make no apologies for my preferences. Please don't take this personally, as some people have recently done. I mean no offense. :) Respect is earned. Respect is precious. But respect is a waste of time unless it's mutual. I found this on another profile, and fully agree with it: "Okay, let's face it.. a fanfiction writer doesn't get paid, we just write for fun, so if I start a story that doesn't get a lot of interest or feedback, I will stop writing it. Simple as that. It may sound selfish, but I do have a life outside of fanfiction. I have a job that I work anywhere from eight to twelve hours a day, and when I get home I'm usually beat. So when I actually have the time and energy to write, I want to make it count. A lot of people think fanfiction writers should finish a story regardless of the amount of feedback it gets, to better themselves, and I agree with that to an extent. However, it's hard to improve your writing when you don't get any feedback or critiques for it. Along with my job I have original stuff that I'm working on, so therefore, if it comes down to writing a fanfiction that I don't get paid for and that no one is going to read or writing a chapter for one of my original stories/novels, it's kind of a no brainer which I'm going to choose to spend my time on." With that said: Of my current fics, I will be finishing Whispered Voices, Not So Innocent and Fallen. That's it. I have other ideas and other pairings I want to explore, so I won't be wasting my time with something no-one's going to read.
