Personal Updates

10/4/09

LSAT's are over. Now it's time to apply for law school. All those people who think their senior year of High School is hard, just wait until you get to your senior year of college! I'm taking two languages this semester, which is a lot of work. I'm also taking senior seminar, which has about 10 hours of reading a week. This doesn't leave a lot of time for writing at all.

Yet, I have obviously gotten some writing done because I posted three new things today. First, I have finished re-writes for Dragon's Strike. I renamed it Red Dragons and have made it awesome. The first two chapters are up, more to come soon because it is completely finished! Second, I finally finished writing Pictures of Peril and have added it to this site. If anyone has any better summary ideas I'm open to suggestions. It's a story that I started writing about three/four years ago and I finally had the inspiration to finish it. I like it and I really hope ya'll like it too!

I'm still working on my other stories too, so maybe I'll get something from one of them done soon!

I am at the beach, soaking up rays and ignoring the real world for a while longer. When I'm back in the real world on Sunday it will be time for intensive LSAT prep and preparations for returning to college for my senior year. God am I old! I'm taking two languages this semester, plus all the rest of my life crap, so we shall see how the writing side goes.

As for my writing: it's been an interesting week. I've hit on a semi-new idea for Ashes that I have been playing with. I've also been doing some intensive re-writes for Truth and Lies. The basic premise of the story is the same, but everything has changed so much that it is almost an entirely new story. I can't wait to finish re-writing so I can start working on new stuff for that story. When that happens I will probably take down the old version entirely and put up a new story. Keep an eye out for it! I've been working on some shorter stories as well. We'll see if those pan out into anything worth posting.
And, I've been working on my original fiction piece. I've finally come to the decision that I don't know enough about the real world to write an Urban/Paranormal fantasy and have instead begun the arduous task of switching my story over to straight up fantasy. Does anyone know a good fantasy substitute for a motorcycle in a world where magic isn't blatant or used in the open? Right now I'm going with a horse, but if something more inventive comes along I won't say no. I'm still not sure if I will be posting this story on fiction press. It's a damn good story, but since the amount of plagiarism has been rising over there of late, I'm a bit reticent to put my life's work up where others can steal. If I get it published I will post that here.

Anyway, that is all I am wresting with at the moment. Please root for me as my life continues to roller coaster around unchecked.

I've been keeping an eye on the Israel-Hamas conflict and I have to say that Israel was totally in the right this time. If Hamas had done good things for Gaza, like trying to stimulate the economy, build schools and hospitals, and tried peaceful means to get over their grievances with Israel, instead of buying rockets and playing with Iran, then this never would have happened. I'm sorry so many were killed on both sides, but sometimes you have to answer a fist with a fist, which is what Israel had to do once they realized that words and peaceful negotiations (like the fact that Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005 to ensure peace with the Palestinians...gee that worked...) had failed. I only wish the world community and the UN would look past the broken buildings in Gaza to the actual root of the problem.

So I saw everyone writing Rowan-Greenleaf's challenge and I thought, hmm, I've had this challenge up for months without anything being written for it, (yes, I was jealous). So I'm going to emphasize it and hope someone reads this...

Requirements-

-D/G/B darkfic
-Draco and Blaise are evil, Voldemort loving or just Dark loving wizards
-Ginny is an innocent
-Through some turn of events Draco and Blaise manage to co-opt Ginny into their lives permanently

No-no's-

-Ginny's time in the Chamber/Tom Riddle effecting her or Ginny having Dark tendencies beforehand

Preferences (but not requirements)-

-No main character death, (ie. D/G/B are all still together at the end of the fic)
-Torture is fine if that fits your plot but I'd prefer if D/G/B are still beautiful at the end of their torture session

Otherwise-

-Have fun!
-No other plot specifics, length, or other ships required
-Rating can be anything you want
-If you want to be inventive with the requirements (ie, only D/G or B/G or D/B) then PM me and we'll talk

I just found this story in the Fire and Ice Library and I think everyone should read it. Sea of Waking Dreams is by far the best story I have ever read. It is a D/G but it isn't posted at this site and it is unbelievably good. Check it out.
