Author has written 31 stories for Harry Potter, King’s Blades, Lord of the Rings, Firefly, Chronicles of Narnia, Doctor Who, Supernatural, SeaQuest, Torchwood, and Van Helsing.

It's amazing how time flies. I've been doing the fanfiction thing for about 10 years now, both reading and writing here and on other sites. These days, I'm in my mid-twenties, working as a mechanical engineer in the nuclear industry. I spend a lot of time reading and writing technical documents at work, so I don't get much time to be creative.

Mostly, I write one-shots, focused mainly on character introspection. I've got a couple of longer pieces in various fandoms that I play around with from time to time, and if I ever finish any of them, I'll put them up here eventually. I certainly enjoy getting feedback on my stories, but it will never stop me from posting if I don't get reviews. I write for myself, because I enjoy it and it allows me to stretch my mental muscles in a direction other than fluid systems analysis.

I'd like to think that my writing has grown and improved since I first started posting here. I'm not likely to take down older works or try to rewrite something from however long ago, no matter how much it might make me cringe. I like the reminder of how I've improved with time and practice. And that's really what fanfiction is, after all. That's not to say I'm sitting at home writing the next best seller (I wish), but writing is just one of those skills that I've worked hard to improve.

I don't often leave reviews for other people, unless something really jumps out at me and catches my attention. That's not to say that I don't enjoy what I'm reading, and often I'll add a story to my Favorites list so that I'll be able to find it easily if I ever want to go back and reread it. But unless I have some sort of outstanding praise or any constructive criticism to offer, I'm more than likely not going to leave a review. It's nothing personal. If you've left me a review, though, I am more likely to go and see what you've written.

I've got an eclectic taste in books, movies, TV shows, and music. I wander aimlessly through different fandoms, some of which I've written for and some of which I haven't, constantly on a quest to find new and interesting stories to read. It seems as if most of my favorite fandoms have devolved into the same few stories being told over and over again, and not always being told well. Which is a shame.

So that's me, in a nutshell. Read if you wish, review if you like. Thanks for stopping by, and come again soon!

NaNoWriMo 2009

I've decided to take part in the ever-wonderful challenge of trying to reach 50,000 words in a single month. In a fit of insanity, I dove back in to Harry Potter, tackling the challenge of the Marauders, Lily, and Snape, in their first year at Hogwarts. I plan on posting the story here, titled 'Foundations' at the moment, after it's finished and nice and shiny and polished. I'm not sure when that will be, but likely not until January 2010.

The goal is to make them all into real people, with passions and beliefs, hopes and dreams and fears. To paint a picture of the Wizarding world in the early 1970s, and how Voldemort found a foothold to exploit. There isn't some great evil lurking at the end of the school year, no enemy to face down, no mortal peril to avoid. Just a group of kids growing up and figuring out how they fit into this world that their parents have laid out for them and how to take that and make it their own.

Ambitious, I'm sure, especially since I really want people to read my story and say "Hey, wow, I actually like Peter!" Because I'm really sick of people just ignoring him or turning him into some whiny, wimpy tag-along that the others basically only keep around to harass. I think he has so much potential as a character, and I want to give him the chance he deserves.
