Author has written 5 stories for Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VIII, and Final Fantasy XIII. My Quote #1: I'm a fan and this is my fiction, hopefully you'll like it too. My Quote #2: Salutations! If you consider yourself Norman Lear, then I'll be Tom Wolfe any day.* I'm a woman who greatly enjoys the Legend of Zelda franchise. Some of my friends would refer to me as a major Zelda junkie (or Link junkie rather). I love the series and have been a fan since I was 5 years old. Ocarina of Time is one of my favorites simply because of the character Saria. Saria is simple and complex like a single celled organism. I believe this character is horribly underrated. I'm an ER registered nurse who resides in southern California and am currently in graduate school. I love to surf, bike ride, read, and play LoZ. I'm also a P90X drone, and I'm a forever optimist. I will always find the positive in life. 4/12/2013- I got married! I'm a hardcore scientist who believes in God (that's almost sacrilege in some circles lol). I believe science points to a Creator, not to a chance happening at 10 to the 110th power, which is well beyond the realm of possibility (10 to the 50th power is considered the realm of impossibility; that's mathematical logic). If you don't believe me, research it yourself lol (which you should always do anyway, prove things to yourself). I'm a physics and chemistry nerd. No, seriously I am. If chemistry were a man, I'd marry him (I love numbers, and super saturations lol). Some say science and faith don't mix, I say look a little deeper. As such, I'm not an English major so grammar is not my strong suit. If you are looking for perfection, you won't find it here. My writing style is deconstructed minimalism. What in the world does that mean lol? I don't use the standard format all the time because I prefer a more stylized way of writing. Why say in twenty words what you can say in five? I do have a large vocabulary, but I always try to give the meaning of the word so as not to confuse my readers. I never try to insult anyone's intelligence, that's just rude. I like to make people laugh, so you can expect bouts of humor in my stories (not all of them, but the fair majority). I don't BETA read, only because I don't feel I have a sufficient skill set to do so lol. However, if you need encouragement or a friendly ear, don't hesitate to PM me. I am very approachable and will offer you advice if you need it, and despite the tone of the next set of notices, I'm actually a very nice person lol. Honest (not honestly). 10/24/2012 NOTICE: If you leave a scathing review with absolutely no constructive criticisms (proper critique- e.g. 'work on your grammar,' or 'you misspelled a word,' or 'you got too wordy at this junction;' improper critique- 'I hate your characters,' or 'your story is stupid,' or 'you fail at life,' etc lol), or you have no idea what you're talking about in terms of the rule of grammar, AND you are not signed in, I will delete your post. I mean it. Saying idiotic things is not constructive, even if that is the way you feel. There is a solution for that, simply don't read my material. Really, I have no time for nonsense. There is no need for unnecessary bashing of any kind, just read something else. 12/5/2012 ADDENDUM to the Above Message- Another thing, make sure if you're going to give advice on grammar, that your own grammar is up to par yourself lol. If you don't know all rules that's okay, because neither do I lol. However, there's nothing more contradictory, or silly than someone giving advice when their own messages are riddled with grammar mistakes (e.g. lowercase 'i's' when they should be uppercase, punctuation outside of certain syntax e.g. "I... was blah, blah, blah", this is wrong lol, or "Your doing this wrong!" it's 'You're'). Don't give me any nonsensical spill about grammar Nazi-ism when things like this can be considered the blind leading the blind lol. No one is perfect. No one. ADVERBIAL & ELLIPTICAL CLAUSES: For those overly concerned with adverbs, or should I say the (ly) fan, here is a brief lesson in the adverbial clause. An adverbial clause consists of several words that comprise the thought and adjunctive narrative of a sentence. It is a common misconception that the proper adverbial clause is the one that ends with (ly). The sentence structures in my stories will comprise of adverbial clauses that have little to no (ly's). Why? Read a series of adverbs and listen to how ridiculous the text sounds. So, for those of you so called grammar-Nazis who want to insist that (ly's) need to be at the end of every adjective, think about this before you reply. Also too, many of the sentences in my writings consist of elliptical clauses. These are clauses where the adverb has purposely been left out. Why? The same reason as I've stated before: too many (ly's) sound ridiculous. I will always defend what I write if I feel it is being unjustifiably attacked. Here's a website for more information: http://www.grammar-monster.com/lessons/adverbial_clauses_phrases.htm Sighs* I'm done with this subject. 5/9/2013 To Those of You Who Dislike My Stories lol: Don't read them lol. Seriously. I will never understand why people waste so much time and effort by first, reading my stories, and then second, telling me how much they hate my stories lol. The solution to the problem is simple, if you don't like my content, look elsewhere. I'm not going to argue with you over why you hate my characters so much lol. I'm not going to change my endings because you don't like them lol. I'm not going to bash your story because you hate mine lol (I don't have the energy for such nonsense lol). I'm not going to get into some philosophical spiel about why FF.net is about releasing YOUR imagination and not someone else's lol. I'm not going to argue with you in why you feel my stories don't deserve to be as popular as they are (the people have decided that, not me lol [I've always said it's a click and read thing]). I'm not going to go into some long rant or tirade forcing you to like my material, you are entitled to your opinion, and it would be wrong for me to change it. So, there it is, there's my stance. Take it, or leave it. Now with that out of the way... *smiles at the people who don't hate me*. What You Will Find In My Stories: 3/16/2013-3/17/2013- 3/23/2013- This is an added feature to inform readers ahead of time what to expect in my stories. 1) I write in first person narrative. All of my stories are in first person narrative. So, I hope you enjoy that aspect. 2) Expect action scenes in my adventure stories. I love action, and am a fangirl of action, especially when it's done right. 3) Expect love scenes (not sex scenes) in my stories. My love scenes range from humorous, to emotive and intense, it just depends on the situation. I'm a big proponent of tension between my characters. So, if you don't like love scenes, then don't read tGwtGH, HZGHGB, or tAH, because there are love scenes in those stories. That's why they are rated T-16. 4) Expect a little medical jargon in my text from time to time. I'm a nurse, so bits and pieces of my profession are bound to seep into my stories. I also find it authenticates my narrative. 5) Expect science. I'm big on science, and love showing that that thing called 'magic' is actually practicality (chemistry to be exact). 6) Expect bouts of humor. I love to make people laugh, and to me there is nothing better than finding the humor in an otherwise serious situation. 7) Expect 'sentence enhancers'. You will find a few swear words in my stories. I don't go overboard with this, but I use them for emotive purposes only. If that offends you, then I apologize ahead of time. So, those are staples to my work. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. 3/17/2013 Pairings: I often get the question: 'what is your favorite pairing?' While I think this is loaded question, I honestly think it depends on the context of the game. I'm a Link/Saria fan because to me their friendship encompassed a bond at a much deeper level than the 'Zelink' people are so obsessed with from OoT. I think if Saria were a Hylian, Link would have married her. In terms of Zelink, I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of it, only because I think it's over done and generic (I'm such a hypocrite considering I wrote a story with Zelda and Link falling for each other lol). However, if I had to write a story with Link and Zelda, it would be with the Twilight Princess universe in mind. Why? I honestly feel that that princess gets no love lol. Midlink, SS Zelink, OoT Zelink are everywhere, but the beautiful brunette princess with the sad smile never gets any love. That's why I write stories about her, and I try to analyze her sadness and seriousness. Anyway, that's my take on pairings. 3/17/2013 Happily Ever Afters...: Happily ever after is relative to each story, and for me the more realistic the ending the better. That's just me lol. 3/23/2013 About Caricatures: I sometimes write caricatures of characters in my stories. It does not mean I feel the character is always interpreted that way. Sometimes taking a character and magnifying a quality has its risks, but as a writer, never be afraid to take risks, even if people don't necessarily agree with it. Also too, don't allow someone to dictate the flow of your narrative if you already know where it is going. If the reader is trying to give you advice to improve, take it. However, if the reader is trying to tell you how you should interpret a character, kindly correct that person, for such an action is presumptuous. What that can do is disrupt the flow of your narrative and disjoint the proceeding text. The only time a correction like that is in order, is if the character is completely out of character. However, I've found that in the LoZ universe Nintendo has left most of the characters open for interpretation. Even though they all have cardinal attributes, their personalities can be molded in several ways. It all depends on the POV it is coming from. Anyway, that is how I see it. If you have any questions feel free to PM me. 2/27/2012 & 9/5/2012 & 12/26/2012- "Closure" is my first fanfiction. I'm currently in the process of reediting it, but it is the story of Saria leaving the Sacred Realm to tell Link how she really feels. It is an angst story, and I wrote it from Saria's POV. I will rewrite the story to fix the grammar, but if you're looking for an 'angsty' tale, "Closure" is it. 3/11/2012 & 9/5/2012 & 12/26/2012 & 4/26/2013- "The Girl with the Green Hair," is an action/mystery/romance story. The rewrite on this story is completed. The characterization of Saria is different, I don't portray her as the fun loving sage she is in the game OoT, however, I tried to keep her true to her spirit. Thank you to everyone who read and reviewed the story. If you are looking for an action story laced with romance I highly recommend this one. 7/30/2012 & 9/5/2012 & 12/26/2012 & 5/1/2013- "How Zelda Got Her Groove Back," completed 12/26/2012, it will be reedited at a later date. The story is an adventure/romance story, but there are mystery elements to it. The characters are older and they are flawed, so if you are looking for perfect altruistic versions of Link and Zelda you won't find that here. I'm putting this up as a DISCLAIMER of sorts because some people want me to portray them as they are in the game. I haven't done that, and the characters are set in stone... so, read at your own discretion. Anyway, I want to thank everyone for reviewing and subscribing the story. If you are looking for a science heavy, riddle fest I highly recommend this story. 8/5/2012 & 12/5/2012- The picture on my profile is what I imagine Zelda looking like (or her clothes at least) in chapter 16-17 in "How Zelda Got Her Groove Back." The Hyrulean Festival is my favorite part of the story. 12/5/2012 NEW STORY NOTICES- I have five new stories outlined in my head that I'm going to write before I decide to walk away from this site: one is a drama (Link x Saria; continuation of "The Girl with the Green Hair" chronicling the next 30-40 years of their friendship), one is a crime science/psyche thriller (Link), one is a comedy/mystery (Link), one is a romantic comedy (Saria x Link), and the last one is the prequel to How Zelda Got Her Groove Back (it's the story chronicling the events of Link and Zelda's past primarily from Link's POV). I'll write the new story after I reedit "Closure" and "The Girl with the Green Hair." Anyway, thank you for reading and all the best to you. 3/16/2013 The Ambivalent Hero- This is the prequel to "How Zelda Got Her Groove Back," this story is primarily from the viewpoint of Link, but there will be changes in POV later in the story. This does not stringently follow canon. There are made up histories, and the characters are flawed. So, if you as a reader don't like this, please don't read it. I want to thank everyone who has supported the story thus far, and I promise you good things to come in the future. Random Thoughts: Paul Dirac is the man- he was a scientist who developed the conceptual idea of the Dirac Sea. A Dirac Sea is an inverted plane of space and time used to explain the complex phenomena of Multiverse Theory. However, I have to caution, the Multiverse Theory has never been proved true. It's just academic conjecture. *Norman Lear is a literary author who hates and despises Tom Wolfe, an investigative reporter turned novelist. Lear states that Wolfe isn't a true novelist because he pounds the pavement and writes things that everyday people can understand (the ignorant 'masses'). Wolfe rejected the snobbery of the literary intellectual elite and wrote books from his research and daily interactions with people. Like I said before I'll be Tom Wolfe any day. "My Curse," by Killswitch Engage, is one of my favorite songs and you can read it with any of these fictions, because it applies equally to all of them. There will always be a chapter inspired by this song in one of my stories. The beginning guitar rift is the most beautiful sound in the world. A few shout outs: Check out the stories Visions by OdnetninAdlez and In a Timeless World by Summer Wonderland. Note worthy authors to keep in mind: Pip-Indigo, Carnivorous Muffin, Mslady17, Henslight, TheKiro, Joseph Kuo's Madness, and Raynre Valence-Sage of Time. These are all great writers with great stories, from the LoZ universe and beyond. Show them some love and check out their content. | |||||||
