But another quality that I think is equally important, especially in the case of fiction, is a love full of personal bias. Put most radically, I would say that is all you need.

Lately I've been crossposting everything to Archive of our Own. FFnet has its rules, and so there are things that I can't post here-- therefore beyond crossposting there are also stories over there which can't be found here. Currently these stories are:

Mischief Managed, a porny/cracky side story to "What The Sibyl Said." Digimon, Daiken-- kind of.
Above You, Below Me, a very explicit side story to "Come Out And Play." Oofuri, Haruna/Akimaru.
Like Kisses on the Necks of Best Friends, a Homestuck Erikar fic.
The Flooding Dark, The Evening Strange Fullmetal Alchemist, Scar/Edward. The first few chapters of this story can be found here, but I couldn't post the rest of it because it got to be too explicit early on. This used to be a favorite story of mine and I still love it a lot, but at this point in my life I should point out that I consider it kind of flawed, too. Later stories of mine are better.

More will be added to this list as appropriate.

Besides the AO3, I also crosspost (most) of my stories to my writing journal, Lukassa at Livejournal.

When it comes to my unfinished works-in-progress, none of them are abandoned. My philosophy on writing is such that I always prioritize writing whatever I most want to write at any given moment, but I never truly leave my fandoms and all of my in-progress stories have clear endings I am working towards. Here is the current status of the stories that are on hiatus:

Reflections- will be done in 36 chapters. Chapter 15 is almost entirely finished, just needs one more part added and some betaing.
What The Sibyl Said- only the epilogue is left to rewrite.
In Want Of A Prime Directive- 2 more chapters until completion.
Skywarp's Advanced Degree In Dumbass- of all the fics on this list, this is the one that is least planned out.
You Will Not Fall- two or three more chapters, and an epilogue, to go.

And now, on a personal note. A long time ago, I took my stories offline, and after that I stopped writing for a long time. But now I've been back for a couple years, and I think I've figured out a general process which has been keeping me productive and happy.

Anyone can write stories. I think everyone should write stories, the stories that make them happy, and not worry too much about how others might take them, because fandom is for fun and writing fanfic should be too.
