Author has written 12 stories for Guardians of Ga'Hoole, and 9.

Hello! I'm Barn Owl Girl! I'm still relatively new here, but I'm getting more used to it already. I really enjoy writing–and reading– lots of stories throughout all different genres.

I now have a DeviantArt account! I'm Barn-Owl-Girl there, too. Mostly, I'll be posting drawings of my OCs, and if you have any questions about what they look like, PM me and I'll post a drawing of them.

My whole fanfictioning experience began about a year ago now. In February of 2011, whilst I was lying in bed, an idea struck me. I should write a sequel to the G.O.G. series! At the time, it was my favorite book series, and I was definitely not satisfied with only fifteen books and the two extras. I began to work on Echoes of the Past, bringing around a small, blue notebook with me nearly all the time. At school, people would stare as I sat there, off in my own world, writing quietly. It wasn't until after I'd finished that I discovered fanfiction.net.

The first story I ever read was Black Feathers, by Hodgepodge11, and I was instantly sucked in. I didn't get a full account until August 2011.

I actually first learned about 9 from LittleBigPlanet. I got it for Christmas in 2009, and later, I learned of a movie with sack people-like creations. I was tempted to watch it, so I did some research on Wikipedia about it. Online, it said that all the stitchpunks died, and I decided, What's the use of watching a movie where everyone dies? Usually, I hate that kind of movie! And so, 9 was out of my thoughts for another two and a half years.

It was mid-September of 2011, and my sister and I were browsing YouTube, looking at random videos. One that came up in the suggested videos column was a trailer for 9. We watched it and were instantly hooked. Unfortunately, everywhere we looked didn't have 9. Eventually, we rented it from a video store and watched it on October 29th, 2011. I knew I was in love at once.

Only a few days later, I began to think of my story 10. It all started while I was watching some of the extras of 9. In a first sketch of 7, I mistook her little dangly earrings that came off her skullmet for pigtails. The next day at school, I began sketching pictures of a stitchpunk with extra long fabric around her ears. When I was walking to the bus stop, the idea for her Mum to be the Scientist's daughter struck me.

These days, I do a fair bit of writing at school. Also, I've taken up an interest in drawing. You can thank 6 for that one. All over my work, I have sketched of stitchpunks, mostly my original characters. Once, when I was showing some of my friends my drawing, a random guy walks up, sees their numbers scrawled above their heads and states, "Wow. Numbers for names. Just like in that movie 9." It turns out all kinds of people have heard of it!

A lot of the time, I feel like 6 these days. I always seem to be off in my own little world, drawing or writing. Maybe that's why he's my favorite character. I even have a little key necklace! But, unfortunately, it's broken right now! D:It's not nearly as awesome as 6's, but it's close. I often find my self doodling the Talisman mindlessly. If most of my friends were to see the Talisman, they'd exclaim, "She's always drawing this!" I'm hoping to get a DeviantArt account so I can share my drawings with the world.

Some days, if I'm feeling too lazy to get out a pencil and paper, I'll draw on my DSi. I use flip note studio as an electronic drawing pad. One of my most common things to draw are 9/Doctor Who crossovers. I'll draw an awkward-looking stitchpunk and label him, 'The Twelfth Doctor' and put 7 beside him as his female companion. I'm tempted to write a story to go along with it someday. Just not now.

Well, enough about my life stories. As you can no doubt see, I love to talk. Now, I have to share some of my favorite things!

Fav Books: NUM8ERS, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, The Underland Chronicles, Graceling

TV Shows: Hetalia, Doctor Who, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Match Game 74, Fruits Basket

Movies: 9, Legend of the Guardians, Treasure Planet, Charlotte's Web, My Sister's Keeper, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, WALL-E, Brave

Music: Politik, by Coldplay, Above the Timberline, by Five for Fighting, Don't Let it Break Your Heart, by Coldplay, anything else by Coldplay (What? I love Coldplay!)

Genres: Romance, Angst, Drama, Supernatural, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Video Games: LittleBigPlanet (1 &2) Call of Duty, Portal 2

Biggest Fears: Needles, spiders, more needles (Believe me, it's torture to write about sewing. I'm terrified of needles)

Instruments that I play: My voice, Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, a bit of Piano, some Ukelele, soon, Guitar.

Fav Quotes:

"Always bring a banana to a party." –The Doctor

"And tacos. I'm addicted to tacos." –Hodgepodge11

"I'm taking a nap. Don't disturb me." -Me

More Random facts about Me!

I have a pet African Pygmy Hedgehog named Petal, a Cat named Skittles, and two fish named Wheatley and Neera. (I made changes here because some of my pets died. RIP Hash Brown and Lutta)

The most relatable characters to me from 9 are actually 9 and 6.

Almost every one of my invented characters reflects me in some way.

I still speak fluent Dragonese, which I learned from the HTTYD series. Howdedoodethere? Me calda Barn Owl Girl. Farin ok?

I prefer to write on paper, or else on my iPod. Almost every single one of my stories has been typed on my iPod in Notes.

I have a terrible memory (I'll often forget that I said something if I didn't think about what I was going to say beforehand) but I find the easiest things for me to memorize are poems or anything that rhymes, or lines from a movie. For example, the repeating canto from The Prophecy of Blood from Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods will be stuck in my memory forever. Turn and turn and turn again, you see the what but not the when. Remedy and wrong entwine, and so they form a single vine. Also, I have the first 20 minutes of Legend of the Guardians known off by heart.

I had a misplaced hair follicle on my forehead, and now I have a scar where it was.

I prefer teaching myself instruments to having lessons. I taught myself Tenor Saxophone and Ukelele, and wish to teach myself guitar.

I've sung in city-wide choirs since I was in grade 5.

I often forget people's names (even when we're close friends) ad mistake them for names of characters in my stories. For GOG fans, I once accidentally called my little cousin Eglantine, Soren and Kludd all in the same day, For 9, I often get names confused with numbers. If I don't think, I'll randomly say 9, 7 or 10 in the place of anyone's name. For example, one we were discussing one of my friend's aunts, and I asked, "Oh, do you mean 9's aunt?" After that, I found myself banging my head on the desk.

My dreams never make sense, but often have to do with politics or crossovers. Once, I had a Hunger Games/GOG/Atlantis/9/Phineas and Ferb/real life cross over dream. More often, it will just be real life and one other thing. However, I can tell that they're getting closer, for just recently I had a Rio/Hunger Games/9/Happy Feet crossover dream, and I think Happy Feet was in there from Elijah Wood being in both 9 and Happy Feet.

Updates!

July 8, 2012

I got a guitar for my birthday! I haven't taken any lessons yet (I'm starting later this summer) but I know most chords, thanks to the app ChordBank. One of my best friends and I are planning to play both our guitars for money at some point. I still have to take some lessons first, though. Since I updated this ages ago, my newt Hash Brown died. Or rather, vanished. He was there one day, gone the next. Actually, he was there a month, then gone the next. I haven't figured out what happened to him yet.

July 15, 2012

I got a brand new laptop yesterday! No, it was not a present, I had to buy it myself. Hopefully this will mean I can get some more writing done of Deception and update just a bit faster. Only a few chapters left to go, folks. Hope youre enjoying it so far!
