Many, many seasons ago I was but a humble reader and writer of stories featuring heavily the Dragon Balls of Z, and the flashy explosions and constant shouting therein. Shortly after that I came to know Ranma one-half (Ranma nibunoichi), and became a true Fanfiction Addict. Though for many years I was only a Ranma addict, at times only dabbling in other things, I have recently discovered an old flame: Pokemon. In Pokemon I have remembered my first true fanfictions: The ones I wrote as a Junior High School student, and most especially the one with the mythical fifty-plus chapters that no one but I shall ever see. These things passed and I now am writing something from a section I never thought I'd get into: Harry Potter. I have, somehow, managed to find a way to cross both it and Pokemon, and the result was, and is, Harry Mewter, the story of a boy and his friends who stick their necks out a little too far, and are forever changed because of it, for better or worse. (Probably better in this case.) Harry Mewter has been updating randomly, when I get the gumption for it. Not quite the regular updates it was 'back in the day', but still a lot faster than any of my other fics... >.>

When I'm not writing or reading or watching movies or working... erm, yeah, any of those, I'm usually playing Mabinogi. If you've never heard of it it's... well, an awesome game from Nexon, Inc. You'd have to read about it to get it, and you'd have to really play it for a while to 'understand' it, so I'm just going to give a link. A Fantasy Life: Mabinogi It's very good and I love to spend far too much time with it. :D I'm a part of the KittyKnights guild, the bestest guild in the game, and go by the game-name of Larateuch. I recommend everyone to try it out!

Author's Notes for Harry Mewter, Chapter 8

Well that's the end of Book 3, Arc 1.

As I started this fic with Book 3, I'm going to simply call whichever book I'm misrepresenting by the number that book is in canon. So Arc 1 being Book 3 means that I'll refer to Arc 2 as Book 4, since that'll be the book I'll be mangling to the edge of recognizability.

Always keep in mind as you read this: Changes pile up. The longer this fic goes, the more changes occur, and as Mew's lead very different lives from humans, Harry's way of dealing with the world around him will be more and more different from that of Canon-Harry. That said, even a perpetual child with immense power would have depressed moments if forced to live through the times that Harry's destined for; he's not going to always be a cheerful bundle of energy! ... just most of the time.

And here's another little tid-bit to think about, and it has to do with an awful lot of Harry's thought processes as time goes on. I've thought a lot on Mew, among a few others, and how they fit into their world. I know that Mew are apparently born, if they're born at all, with the power to Transform. It's the first thing they know along with Pound according to the 'Official' Pokedex, and only afterward do they grow any stronger powers. Which leads me to a rather interesting theory: When a Mew is born it is not raised by other Mew.

I think that an Adult Mew's powers might be too powerful to properly care for a youngling, so when the Mew is born it is left in the wild, where it will naturally take on the form of whatever looks like it might be willing to care for it, instinctively seeking protection and guidance. This not only solves how and why Mew would have Transform right off the bat, but also suggests some pretty good reasons why Mew seems to be so very close to all the living things around it; if it were raised by humans, as a human, then it would stand that it would have a soft spot for them. And Harry, certainly, is going down that path now.

And to ward off any major shouting about the 'Time Keeper' thing: Someone who knows Pokemon well enough should be able to guess what Harry transformed into near the forest. For those who don't, look up Celebi, as that's it's name. Look it up and you'll understand.

I think I'd also like to take this moment to explain Harry's Patronus: I think it's pretty obvious that he produced a Pokeball when he cast it, and what came out was, in fact, a Machoke. However, Machoke is not his Patronus, rather that would be the ball itself, which works much like the Pokeballs from the Smash Brothers series; Harry honestly won't know what will pop out until it already has, and if he isn't careful he could very well end up with a little Magikarp flopping about uselessly.

Hmm, the growth of their Pokemon forms. The point I'd like to make about that is that none of them, even Harry (who has spent the most time in Pokemagus form) have had much battle experience, which is what causes Pokemon to grow stronger. In Book Three (this book) Harry spent a fair amount of time putting the beat-down on fake Dementors, so he's actually the highest-level of the three at the moment, but he wasn't doing it to get stronger, and it wasn't often enough for a lot of growth. And yet his Legendary status makes him strong enough at level fifteen to effectively fight a full-grown Werewolf and a pack of Dementors (twice, even). And yes, those fights made him grow.

And finally, to the question of why Hermione stayed as an Eevee in the last parts of Chapter Seven. The reason is quite simple: As Harry was setting Harry down, he whispered something in Hermione's ear. That 'something' was him telling her to 'stay like that for now', largely as a way of helping them keep her transformation at least relatively secret, especially with Wormtail, whom Harry knew to be untrustworthy, not far away. Also, to Hermione's Eevee Form growling: She's still able to growl, she just won't have the Growl attack (User growls cutely to lower target's attack, which is why I said she wouldn't be growling cutely). She won't grow much, if at all, because she won't spend much time as an Eevee (other than perhaps for stealth or the simple easiness of it), and will fight like that even less.

(Wow, this section is old. C2's new? Hehe! Still, it's worth keeping, so meh.)

As many may know, I've recently taken advantage of the new 'C2' feature here on ff.n. While I've already added a good many worthy Ranma fictions to the archive, there are some that, while I would prefer to have them included in the archive, are simply inelligible, either because of rating (some are 'R'), or because of category conflicts (some are out of the Ranma category). I will take the time to name some of them here.

Projects I - III:

The Ranma Projects, written by an author originally known as Omega X, now known as 'Demon Eyes Laharl' (for some weird reason), are a good example of stories that belong in the Ranma's Best archive, but most of which are inelligible because of an 'R' rating. I recommend that they are all checked out and read through. These are stories that will stick with you.

The Virus:

The Virus is a comedic humor story with loose ties to my personal favorite 'Happi Days'. The unfortunate thing is that it was originally and even now is in the 'Anime- Misc.' section, and therefore couldn't be put into the archive. So, I shall put it here.

newRanma:

Though I'm not really sure why it's titled quite the way it is, newRanma is an excellent fic that will keep anyone occupied for any number of days. Coupled with the fact that it's complete, this makes it a recommended read for just about anyone mature enough to handle its mild Lemon-lime content. (More lemon than lime, just to warn ya.) A great story and intense writing style makes up for any uncomfortable-ness that might arise from the few lemon-ish scenes. A great break from the normal cliche's.

newRanma

Ranma's Apartment:

Though not quite as long, it is just as good as The Virus and newRanma. This story, unfortunately, has a lengthy Lemon scene in the third and final chapter. If you skip that part, though, you can still enjoy a great and wonderful story. I recommend it.

Off-Site Fanfiction: Some stories that I've found can't be put into the C2 index for the simple reason that they aren't found on fanfiction.net. And as such, I have decided to include links to some of my favorite ones here in my profile.

This one is kind of dark, and ends even darker. Normally, I wouldn't be able to finish something like that, but this one is simply so good that it refuses to be ignored. The basic premise is that Ranma really wants to see his mom, and finally, he finds a way...

The Author known as Nightelf is a brilliant writer, and there are simply too many fictions for which he is responsible to try to link and describe them one at a time. And as such, I will provide a link directly to his site and otherwise recommend that you check them out. The one I most recommend is 'The Clothes Make The...', which is really, really good.

A wonderful Ranma-chan fiction. It's really dark in some places, and only sort of dark in most, but overall the quality is so great that it's simply a must-read. The author and web-master is working on making it overall a bit better, and in some places that is obvious, but those few places really don't take anything from the story, really.
