Author has written 3 stories for Harry Potter.
My greatest obsession by far is Harry Potter, so that's what I'm going to write about here. I've been a fan since I was 8 and now I'm 19, so my childhood and teenage life would not have been the same without it!
My favourite character is Severus Snape because I think his storyline is the most interesting and tragic and because he's neither a villain nor a saint and least of all a character whom you can truly know after just a few chapters. I love it how he can be stern and intimidating, but also vulnerable and grieving. My love for Alan Rickman also does its part to increase my Severus obsession. I discovered this amazing actor through Harry Potter, but I soon watched all of his other movies as well and he has stayed my favourite actor since then.
My second favourite character is Hermione Granger because she's the one I can relate to most easily. I'm not as courageous and bossy as she is, but apart from that I'm very much like her. I adore her for being a sometimes rather snappy but cute swot as well as a very reliable and loyal friend who is ready to give everything she has to make the world a better place.
The bronze medal goes to Albus Dumbledore. I love him for his humour, kindness and forgiveness, his wisdom, his frankness and his secrets. He's the one who's pulling all the strings while deep down he's still struggling with the past. Many of my favourite moments from the book (I don't like him as much in the movies) have Dumbledore as key character because he's one of the best sources for splendid lines, either funny, touching or timeless. And most of all, I love the Dumbledore/Snape/Harry triangle of relationships, which are all so unique, complex and full of emotion.
Also one of my favourites is Harry Potter himself. I like it to read about his emotional outbursts and his tendency to get into trouble.
Next to mention is Minerva McGonagall, who's also got a special place in my heart. While she seems just a stern teacher at first, it touches me all the more whenever she reveals how much she cares for her students and that she's got a soft and also a rebellious side behind her offish facade. Especially her moments with Dolores Umbridge are among JKR's greatest masterpieces in my opinion. I always found it sad that her best moments never made it onto the big screen, but in the final movie Minerva was incredibly cute and I loved her almost as much as Severus, which is saying a lot.
Apart from those five most important ones, my favourite characters also include Luna Lovegood (for her courage to be different, her great inner strength to endure anything without despair and her sensitivity to other people's feelings in spite of her dreaminess), Lily Evans (mostly because of her childhood friendship with Severus) and Remus Lupin (as the most sensible out of the Marauders, often torn between his best friends and his better judgment, whom I also love dearly for trusting Snape in spite of the enmity of their youth).
My thoughts on Harry Potter could fill loads and loads of pages, but I don't want to bore you any further with more details. So enjoy your time on this site, which is one of the places where "Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home" (JKR)!
