Okay, I've decided to revamp my profile...the old one was dull. Very, very dull. I noticed that a lot of people list their likes/dislikes/etc., so why not...
Name: Subieko. And no, I'm not listing my real name. Why would you need to know, it huh? (paranoid glance)
Gender: female
Age: 19
Hobbies: writing, writing, did I mention writing?, playing video games, reading, doodling, my D&D campaign (I'm the DM)...wow, I really don't have a lot of hobbies...
Things that are uber:
video games (which do NOT rot your brain!), especially: Fire Emblem (although I've only played 7 and 8), Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon (yes, I am an insane fan. Why do you ask?).
Books, especially: Lord of the Rings (Tolkien is my hero!), Harry Potter (so is JKR), Chronicles of Narnia, Good Omens, the Moomintroll books, the Young Wizards series, Pride and Prejudice, the Dragonlance Chronicles, anything by Jared Diamond (an uber-researcher)...and too many others to list. But, to summarize: I love fantasy. Way too much.
Really excellent movies: Spirited Away. Go watch it. Now. (I'm not really a movie person, so let's just skip ahead...).
Really Excellent Manga/Anime: Rurouni Kenshin, Fruits Basket, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Card Captor Sakura (NOT the dub. Let's not even TALK about the dub), Yuugiou (mostly the anime, though, and...er...only the dub...-cries- I feel so unclean!), Pokemon (I've only seen the dub anime, though), Hikaru no Go, Digimon (ah, the memories...), Shaman King, Naruto (only seen the manga, though), Princess Tutu, Gankusto...and others, but this taking a lot of space, sooo...yeah.
Really Excellent Websites: anti-shurtugal(dot)com, nanowrimo(dot)org (yay National Novel Writing Month!!), irregularwebcomic(dot)net (a really, really funny, witty webcomic), wikipedia(dot)org (a study showed that wikipedia had less errors than the Encyclopedia Brittanica. So for those who say it isn't a good source of information: so THERE!), google(dot)com (Ah, google, how I love thee...), xkcd(dot)org (another excellent webcomic), joshreads(dot)com (newspaper comics snark...mmm), giantitp(dot)com (a webcomic centered around D&D/fantasy-related jokes)...and I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Actually, I rather like this website, as well, but since I'm posting this ON it, I figure that's obvious.
Things that are irritating: people who talk slowly, ignorance, talking on the telephone, computer malfunctions (but who ISN'T bothered by them?), bad grammar/spelling, bad writing, 'basic shooter' video games (now THOSE rot your brain), illogical arguments...the list goes on, but let's stop before I seem too negative, hm?
My Top Three Most-Hated Books (there aren't a lot of books I hate, but these...-shudder-)
1. Our Town (it's a play, but never mind that--all copies should be burned at once to spare future generations the agony!)
2. Jane Eyre (ugh! Someone push Jane off a cliff or something, urgently...long live Bertha of Wide Sargasso Sea, an excellent book!)
3. The Red Pony (read it in fifth grade...Most. Pointless. Book. EVER.)
Really Awesome Pairings (for fandoms that I write in/am planning to write in; going through ALL fandoms would be crazy-long)
Fire Emblem 7: LynxKent, EliwoodxNinian, HectorxFlorina, SerraxErk, HeathxPriscilla, NinoxJaffar (they are SO adorable!), SainxFiora, DartxFarina (can't you just see that?), WilxRebecca, and LuciusxRaven, and others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
Fire Emblem 8: EirikaxSeth, EphraimxTana, L'ArachelxRennac (they should have had a pair ending!), NatashaxJoshua, ColmxNeimi, LutexArtur, MarisaxGerik, TethysxRennac (Tethys and Marisa should have had more endings than just BOTH of them with Gerik!), InnesxVanessa, AmeliaxFranz, and others that I can't think of off the top of my head.
Yuugiou/Pokemon: Erm...when I write these fandoms, they happen in the Multiverse, and there are so many Original Characters that they hardly resemble the original storylines...so, no pairings with the canon characters.
Dragonlance: TanisxLaurana and CaramonxTika, I guess...I don't really care about any of the pairings, here. Oh--except for one. GerardxOdila. They should have ended up together! Why didn't they? WHY?
Eragon: I sort-of like the characters in Eragon, and I think it could be a great story if well-written, but there are three--THREE!--pairable female characters. I mean...what!? Talk about a man's world...but anyway. RoranxKatrina, I guess, even though I wish the Ra'zac would just eat them both, Nasuadax? (I'm undecided about her...Orrin, maybe? Murtagh?), and...AryaxDurza. And I mean that in a NON torture/abuse way. Torturing someone is not a pairing! It's just sadism! And I should probably add that I think Arya could easily be a villain, and Durza could (somewhat less easily) be a hero. They're very...questionable characters.
...is that all the fandoms I actually write? Hrm, well, for other fandoms that I just like:
HP: ...RonxHermione. Yes, I am a canon girl, and I decry all those who claim HarryxHermione is canon! It is NOT canon! And...HarryxLuna. Yes, I think he should have ended up with Luna. It's just...too adorable. Feel free to point and laugh now.
Rurouken: KaoruxKenshin! SanoxMegumi (too cute), YahikoxTsubame, AoshixMisao (way, way, WAY too cute).
Fruits Basket: TouruxKyo, YukixMachi (this is just adorable), RinxHaru
Card Captor Sakura: SakuraxSyaoran, TomoyoxEriol (Eriol should NOT end up with Mizuki-sensei. She looks like his mother for crying out loud! And this pairing would only work if Tomoyo wasn't already in love with Sakura, but it's hypothetical), ToyaxYukito.
And now...about my current stories:
Willow's Quest: Oh, man, writer's block. The Ultimate Curse of the writer. I actually have the plot mostly figured out, and yet...argh! The story gets increasingly action/adventure and drama-ish as it goes on.
Chaos Wars part I (other title: Quest for the Key): complete. Erm...the writing quality in the first few chapters is truly hideous. However, it and the story DO improve as they go on, so if it looks interesting...please try to read at least past those first, painful chapters. Especially the prologue, where I had to explain all of the backstory...ehehehe.
Chaos Wars part II (other title: Lost): complete. The story is a bit more...odd and sometimes confusing...but I like it all the same. More heavily involves other Worlds, and much less heavily any of Yuugi's friends (besides Yami). And yes, I use the Japanese spelling for Yuugi's name...there IS an in-story reason, but it isn't revealed until much later.
Chaos Wars part III (no other title yet): complete. The shortest part of the Chaos Wars yet, and probably altogether. Happens almost entirely in Dark World, focuses mostly on Yuugi. Gets a little...gory at times.
Chaos Wars part IV (no other title yet): in-progress, currently stalled due to writer's block. This one focuses on Yuugi, Yami, AND their friends, who get a part in the story at last! Happens in Cyber World, so it's a little sci-fi. More action/adventure than part III.
Chaos Wars parts V, VI (and POSSIBLY VII, although I'm not sure if there will be six or seven parts total yet): Pending. Pending! I swear!
Dragonlance Chronicles: Trapped in a Fanfic: complete. A parody where the characters act crazy and try to escape a fanfic.
Therapy: ...currently stalled due to writer's block, should be over in a few chapters. A parody where the characters are forced to attend therapy...and the therapy is done by the author and Tas. Poor characters. Pity them.
A Chansy's Tale: just a one-shot from the perspective of a 'shiny' Chansy (an unusually colored Chansy). Takes place in the Multiverse version of the Pokemon World, but that's not too important to the story.
ReEragon: this is a rewrite of the Eragon story, the way I think it should have gone. And before and after the chapters are little parody/humor bits where the characters complain, act crazy, etc. The two parts don't really affect each other, so if you don't like one, you don't HAVE to read it to understand the other. The parody/humor bits get more...crazy...as the story goes along. Sequels are in planning (only two--I started writing it when Inheritance was still a trilogy, so a trilogy my version remains. The second part, ReEldest, probably will not be started until after Brisingr--the third Inheritance book--comes out and I've read it.).
Shade of l337: this is a one-shot that popped into my head and refused to leave, so I wrote it down...basically, a parody of the prologue of Eragon, where Durza learns l337speak instead of the Ancient Language and uses it on the elves. All l337 is courtesy of the excellent Wikipedia article, which included a little table of English letters to l337. Somehow it managed to spawn two more chapters, the last of which will be posted shortly.
Minions for Hire: an Eragon parody fic, in which the Bad Guys try to defeat Eragon by hiring new minions...from other fandoms.
Unmarked Grave: this is just a strange little oneshot that popped into my head. Arya musing angstily over a grave, basically...and most likely the only romance-genre story I will ever write, I'm really not good at romance. Heh. Pairing is Arya/Durza.
The Axe Falls: my first FE fic ever. An FE7 fic specifically. Hector tries to teach the tactician something new, and learns something himself. No pairings, just a little oneshot. Set before Port of Badon (16x), so there are no spoilers for anything that happens after that.
And...that's it. Yep. That's me, then.
And thank you to all reviewers/readers! If I make someone happy with my writing, my work has been well-done. Yay for all of you!!
And a random note: I wish asterisks and tildes (the star on the 8 key and the squiggle next to the 1 key) worked on ff.net...I love them! And I miss doing my little faces, too. Alas!
6/1/08: Please allow me to give my deepest and most pathetic apologies for being an extremely lazy writer...I know I haven't updated anything in months. However! A new fic has been posted, the final chapter of Shade of l337 should be up tomorrow (if my internet connection decides to play nicely...otherwise, day after), and the next chapter of ReEragon should be up soon after that! So...I'm back, please forgive me? Ehehehe...
